how every debate i have had with a libertarian looks like

VoodooV says...

funny that he invoked Adam Smith. Adam Smith wanted strong regulation of Capitalism. Nothing wrong with Capitalism with regulation.

I'd also say that there is nothing wrong with capitalism when it comes to non-essential commodities. you want the latest iPhone or that other luxury item with the latest bling? yeah, get a higher paying job so you can afford it. Basic internet service, on the other hand, should be a public utility.

people like that always seem to love Ayn Rand too...but Ayn Rand sucked on the gov't teet quite a bit.

Iowa Presidential Thanksgiving Forum Highlights

dystopianfuturetoday says...

Wow, what is not to understand about the requirements for tax exempt status?

No one is stopping you from preaching politics. If you want to pray to the Republican party, then have some fortitude, stop suckling the on the public teet and give up your tax exempt status. I don't want to have to pay for your destructive and primative fundamentalist rituals anyway.

are you talking about the deregulation of the banking system and Wall Street that led to not just this crash but the previous one? because, yeah... the oh-so-lovable working class were behind that

Oh, no, more about the Let's-Give-Free-Houses-To-People-We-Know-Can't-Pay-For-Them-But-That's-The-Banks'-Problem-We-Just-Buy-Votes-From-The-Poor-Act.

The left likes to call it 'deregulation' as if that were a dropping of vital safeguards keeping the wealthy in check. It was more like a creating an opportunity for certain parties--not all of them wealthy--to take stupid risks thanks to government offering to cover their butts with taxpayer largesse. Not the same thing.

or the banking bailouts, where instead of using the money to cover the banking losses (see above) wasn't used to get lending going again, but for banks to consolidate and buy each other out... leading to banks that are even more TOO BIG TO FAIL

I was 100% against the failouts, but not much you can do against a leviathan government made that way by worshipers of leviathan government as the solution to every problem. You don't create a Kong then act surprised when Kong does what he wants instead of what you want, do you?

and how exactly is Trickle-Down Economics, which have been repeated over and over by the rich as reasons not to tax them, not completely horsesh_t considering the last 30yrs?

Why do liberals insist on calling 1% paying 40% of all taxes "not being taxed"? They're being taxed plenty already, and if you try to confiscate the rest, they'll just beam it overseas or keep it in tax-free products where it won't get invested or circulate. And that's ignoring the moral issue of why someone gets taxed proportionately higher for the 'crime' of having more?

of course, regarding that link, I assume your first response is... "Well Rachel Maddows, that's all I need to know about that link"

No, but I'm not sure what the point of that link was, really. Due to increasingly efficient software and other tech advances, over time a job that once required a thousand workers can be done with only 300. It's called "creative destruction" and yeah, it requires you to be on the ball.

I will say, if you already don't, you should lobby for some rich interests... I'm sure they got a teet for you... because you sure a capable job of touting the rhetoric without providing any concrete details

I've never been offered a job by a poor man, have you? Unless you're a vote-buying politician, you shouldn't overly concern yourself that someone else has more than you, nor blame them. Economics is not a zero-sum game.

The average oh-so-lovable working class stiff is chock-full of wrongful assumptions about business, law and government.
The most harm has been done and money wasted in the past 60 years by governments trying to guarantee an equality of outcomes.

Mr. T has the greatest hair in the world!

pho3n1x says...

Mr. T is still my hero. Everyone's got to make a buck, and this is how he does it. Surely you can't expect him to live on cameos alone. If I had a choice I'd suckle from the teet of Blizzard too (or Google) whenever given the opportunity. Can't blame him really. At least it's not Foot Odor or Herpes commercials. (I pity the fool's genitals that don't use this creme!)

I shall buy a mohawk grenade tonight, knowing that I'm paying Blizzard, who in turn is paying Mr. T, who may buy another bottle of mohawkonditioner.

Disgusting Procedure on Cow - With Hilarious Results

id49606 says...

It looks like they're draining an abscess, from how much blood is coming out. The clear fluid is the infection, and from the lack of puss, looks like this isn't the first time they're done this to that infection point. Then again, this is infection knowledge is bases off of doing the same thing to cats and dogs. You'd be surprised at how much puss a tom's face can hold after a battle with the local alpha male.

A quick google search suggests they're draining an infection in one of the teets. The infection can kill a cow pretty quickly if drastic measures aren't taken.

Bruno (new movie from Sacha Baron Cohen) -- redband trailer

keitholbermann says...

http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=12586

While the moronic Ron Paul was campaigning for the U.S. presidency, Bruno cleverly tricked him into a dark bedroom during an interview. Bruno made passes at the homophobe Paul, and at one point Bruno dropped his pants in front of the congressman. Paul ran out of the room yelling, "He's a damn queer!"

I commend Sacha Baron Cohen for taking extreme risks in the name of outing known homophobes in our representative government. It's obvious Paul hates gays by that comment alone.

Cohen also cleverly tricked the equally moronic (and equally fringe libertarian) Bob Barr into eating cheese made from human breast milk in the Borat movie. I like to think the breast milk came from the teet of a poor working class single mother without enough welfare to care for her family of eight.

Platypus - bird, reptile, or mammal?

10175 says...

Upvote for the future conquerers of the planet Earth.

This clip doesn't even go into detail on how interesting of a creature this is. I wish National Geographic would get back to representing the facts about interesting animals, instead of sounding like an episode of America's Most Wanted.
They lay eggs, though they're warm blooded, they can hunt by electrolocation when using their bill to forage, females have two ovaries but only one is functional. After hatching, the young still feed from milk produced by the female, not from teets, but from pores in the skin.

They're just crazy animals. A real wonder of nature.

Rolling Stone Inserted Undercover Into Reverend Hagee Church

volumptuous says...

Choggie thinks a guy who spent 5 months undercover in Hagee's church, then two months with US Forces in Baghdad, is a "shit" journalist?

I forgot that in Choggie's world, *real* journalist are merely stenographers for the WH and the Pentagon, cheerleading every immoral plan hacked by the biggest thieves in US political history.

Choggie loves him some Jonah Goldberg, Michelle Malkin, O'Reilly, Althouse, and all the rest of the war-mongers who suck the bloody teet of imperialism, lapping up dead Iraqi children's marrow like kittens to their mother.
