McCain (accidentally) endorses Obama at Romney rally

sadicious says...

Can't blame him for a slip up like that. I see it happen with some frequency. It probably helped that I was paid to talk/listen to people 8 hours a day almost non-stop (Tech Support).

Happens to me all the time when an equal valued thought is repeated in my mind before I want to say it. Usually goes something like this...

Think: I like apples.
Think: I like apples.
Think: I like apples.
Think: I don't like oranges. Apples are way better.
Think: Oranges are the worst.
Say: I like oranges...
Think: That didn't sound right.

i had a similar problem to this
firefox tech support had me make a new firefox profile, switch to it, and all was fine

Thanks, I will give that a shot. One very interesting thing that I just encountered. When I had Flash disabled, the main video showed up just fine, but the video in the comments was all greyed out and said it was because the plugin was disabled. Why would the main video show up semi-normal if Flash was disabled?

edit: I just noticed that the main YouTube video is an iframe and the comments video is not. I wonder why that is misfiring for me.

Cop Smashes a Handcuffed Girl's Face Into A Concrete Wall

Drax says...

Jesus christ, way to scare him more lol.

I've never lived in any fear of cops so just be yourself if you encounter one. It's never brought me any problems.

All these videos are like the tech support forum for a product.. you're going to see a lot of bad, but you have to keep in mind it's all the bad pertaining to the subject.

Any cop I've ever dealt with has been pretty cool. One after getting my new car (new model) and massively speeding in the middle of the night was asking me all kinds of questions about my car, then wrote the ticket for way under what I was actually doing. Two have just let me go when there should have been a ticket (in one case) and a bit more in anohter >.>

The rest, yeah.. just be cool with them, and they'll generaly be cool back.

You'll only get something like these videos if your odds suck and you get a bad cop (odds go up depending on how south, and far from the east or west coast you get), are protesting something.. or, GOD FORBID, dancing at a memorial.

This game feels like it's been in development nearly as long as Duke Nukem Forever - I remember seeing early footage just after Quake 4 launched.

Tragic to think that after all this time, all this development and money, they've made a very visually stunning game that looks quite dull and tedious. To my eye looks exactly the same as Quake 4/3/2/1 Doom etc just with better graphics.

So essentially this is Quake 1 but you'll still need to invest an a top of the line new gaming rig just to get more than 15fps.

ID Games: a 1 trick pony that seem to think if they up the graphics enough time no one will notice the total lack of originality!

ID Tech 5 is portable across all major platforms. A high end gaming rig is most certainly not required. It's designed to make cross-platform releases have as much parity as possible. The fact that is made to run at solid 60 FPS on a PS3 and an Iphone as well as PC and 360 is probably one of the reasons it took so long to develop. I'm sure you will be able to crank up the bells and whistles on a high end PC but that was not the intention of this game or the engine.
Another reason for delay would be that Id is actually creating a new graphics technology too. Not just cranking out a game based on someone else's engine. Id Tech 5 streams MASSIVE amounts of textures on the fly into and out of memory seamlessly. Game devs never have to worry about texture memory constraints or making each platform look good. The engine optimizes everything per platform so each looks as good as possible while the developer only need make one version of the texture for all platforms.
Another reason for a long delay would be that Id licenses it's engines to a bevy of other game companies who could not pursue or afford the R&D of developing new tech. Part of selling such a high cost package is they need to provide usable tools for artists and programmers to interface with. This is a priority for their profitability down the line because if the tools suck there will be heavy tech support costs to fix them and maybe a lawsuit. "Rage" is just half of the equation here.
Finally, I believe the delay in this game could be attributed to it being a semi-open world exploration game, with a story line, and with a sizable racing component thrown in as well. It is not just a first person shooter as you see in this clip. In fact the multiplayer part of the game is said to be just the combat-racing. Not deathmatch or CTF. It's a pretty big departure from the "one trick pony" you describe.
Personally, I would like game devs to release a game when it's fully completed and not draw unfair comparisons to 3D Realms' laughable situation. There really is no similarity at all if you know the facts.

Maybe you just don't get the jokes you disrespectful twits. But don't feel bad, I feel the same when I read the 100's of dumb-ass conservative "jokes" that my mother gets emailed from her crusty, "conservative", religious, nut-job, "friends" (and yes I read my mother's email sometimes... (but only while doing tech support for her ).

I had another call this week from a prospective design client who thought I might want to also throw in some tech support. It took me way too long to learn to just say "I am not in the tech support business, I pay people for tech support" when getting that kind of inquiry.

OSX?! Why in Q's name would the enterprise run a proprietary OS? It's pretty much against the practice and philosophy of Star Trek. I never heard anyone calling up tech support for a computer bug. You fix it your self, and the only way to do it is open source.
