Trump Wants to "Cause Chaos" in the Democratic Primary
Best summary of how we contemplate voting in the USA:
At the end of the day most Americans just want to get some Ranch (dressing).
MAGA Catholic Kids Mock Native Veteran's Ceremony
Did you check out the summary of the video evidence posted by eric3579? Or in the nearly 2 hr one I linked skip to 1:11 and check out the interaction between the drummer and the kids.
The kids stay in their group, and the drummer and his followers wade right into them, with lots of room to go around. Phillips is on audio recording declaring that he did NOT feel that he was blocked from any closing ceremony, but that he wanted to go in and separate the kids from the black Israelites to 'descalate' the situation. Eric3579's video again has Phillips audio statement about what he was doing, listen to that and then watch the longer video for a minute or two at 1:11 when Phillips wades in. He's clearly lying, he went in aggressively pushing into the middle of the crowd of kids, hardly what any sane person wanting to deescalate the situation would do.
Sorry...some details that were hastily reported have turned out to be more nuanced than originally thought, for instance it's now being reported that there were adult chaperones there, but the kids absolutely surrounded, taunted, and acted threatening to the native American elder, mocking his ceremony with racist chants and tomahawk chops to derisive laughter, they were not trying to join him as some have tried to claim.
They also blocked the progress of the planned, permitted closing ceremony, intentionally or not.
More video has surfaced of what appears to be some of these kids shouting at and harassing other people (the video I saw was 6+ MAGA boys screaming at a pair of girls) on this trip, away from this incident.
These aren't angels caught up and unfairly painted, these are kids who have reportedly posted videos of at least 4 of themselves dressed in black face and the whole school's bleachers chanting "caramel" at lone black basketball players at their school functions apparently with the full support of their teachers and school....that video just removed from the school website, but after going public.
They've already been invited to the Whitehouse.
We explain "Nordic Socialism" to Trump
I know the original concept was fictional, but the general ideal does exist in theory. I can find numerous articles that discuss it and even Scandinavian politicians refer to it as being somewhat entrenched in the society.
Perhaps a better way to look at it would be the secondary summary given by Kim Orlin Kantardjiev. The law might be summarised as "You shouldn't think you're better than everyone else."
Of course it isn't a 'law' in the rulebooks, but when you have a mostly homogeneous society that believes in a certain cultural norm, then it might as well be.
I suspect we will disagree on whether it is truly a factor, I can only offer my opinion based on what I have read and studied. One of the nasty side effect of my crippling fear of flight is the likelihood that I will never visit a country I can't drive to or take a short sea voyage to.
Janteloven is fictional, from a satire piece. Successful Scandinavians are celebrated, not put down.
Side note: The law was not written by Aksel Sandemose - it was found and twisted. The original laws were taken verbatim from the sobriety movement, where the list of laws was hung up on the wall. Although Sandemose did one change - each law ended with "...when you drink". And then the laws suddenly make quite a bit of sense.
Sandemose's contribution was to remove this crucial point of the laws, that it fit mentality he had seen elsewhere. Like all good satire, it has a grain of truth, but it is by no means a defining description of Scandinavians - it works just as well in a lot of hickwille towns all over the world.
But Intelligent People Believe in God...
Sorry Shiny, I posted directly to you rather than quote.
I'm glad someone else saw it at least. The summary of his entire point can applied to literally any topic, as you've pointed out.
Though not surprising after seeing the focus of the channel. It becomes clear he has a bone to pick with religion showing that the argument is formed emotionally rather than logically. I'd rather have seen an argument which was formulated around the bigger picture and applied to various topics than used as a poker to try and stick religion with.
As for the other persons comment on this being a young account, yes it is. Ok?

Trying to explain bitcoin
Video is pretty much a spot on summary of Bitcoin / crypto
John Oliver - Mike Pence
Missed the Jordan Peterson reference. Being Canadian I've seen a lot of hate thrown his way from the left, but only hyperbole as reasons. Would you have specific things he has done or said to justify this?
Edit: The summary of my familiarity with Peterson is here

It's #1 on amazon at the moment, beating the other bunny book as well Jordan fucking Peterson too.
This makes me so goddamn *happy
Penn Jillette: The Case For Libertarianism
Libertarianism is for teenagers and idiots.
Any well-adjusted adult with any ability for critical thinking can see how stupid this is. Even his premise is idiotic. The government doesn't use guns to enforce parking violations (for example) they certainly don't use guns to provide healthcare to people. When was the last time a bus driver pointed a gun at you and said, "Get on the bus, it's public transit, cars are illegal now!"
Just because America has a lousy political system and therefore generally a string of bad governments, does not mean government is bad. It just means American government is bad. The countries with the highest levels of citizen happiness, the greatest spread of wealth, the highest education standards, the longest lifespans, the lowest infant mortality rates, the lowest crime rates, all have the kinds of governments Libertarians rail against.
Libertarianism, in summary, is childish, stupid, and immoral. No big surprise @bobknight33 is a fan then.
John Oliver - Iran Nuclear Deal
Best summary of the current situation: A scared monkey on a submarine randomly pushing buttons.
Which, like he said, is funny until you realize we are all on that fucking submarine with that fucking monkey.

No Signal And Black=Guns Drawn
A firefighter has no idea what he's getting into when he's doing his job and rushing into a burning building. He wants to go home after work, see his family, make it to another day of life. If he feels the need to pull his gun until he confirms the situation is safe, then do it!
You see what I did there? In both instances, ignoring protocol and going in with a loaded weapon is far more likely to create a dangerous situation than it is to save their own life.
Offering cops a blank check has resulted in many thousands of unnecessary civilian deaths. Meanwhile it's actually increased the danger cops face, because many black men (correctly) assume they're going in to a life-or-death situation.
In summary, do you hate the police and want to see them die? Because that's the only logical end-point on the path you've chosen to defend.
The cop has no idea what he's getting into when he's doing his job and pulling over a car. He wants to go home after work, see his family, make it to another day of life. If he feels the need to pull his gun until he confirms the situation is safe, then do it!
And he will stand there while you hurl needless insults.
Rubio VS Comey: The altimate summary to Comeys testimony.
Altimate? That's like the ultimate "alternative" summary, right?
Note...again, republicans can't grasp the meaning of the different conjugations of "is". "Was not" does not mean "is not", and he refused to say Trump is not under investigation personally at this point, he only said that that was the case in January.
Also, note that releasing your own, personal, non classified notes is not "leaking" as the word is customarily used, and absolutely not illegal or wrong in any way (unless he pledged personal loyalty to Trump, then it's wrong for them, but still patriotic).
Trump pushes aside NATO ally and Preens for the camera
An apt summary of his entire life.
Act like an entitled arse and then look down on everyone you fucked over to get there.
Rethinking Nuclear Power
A relatively good summary, but it's worth noting that Transatomic have been criticised for their sums not adding up. They may have fixed this by now, but in my opinion the best approach at the moment is Thorcon who have a design that uses no new technology of any kind and can be built right now with existing manufacturing processes. They have the people and the resources to do it too, they just need the financial and regulatory backing http://thorconpower.com/
NHL Evgeny Svechnikov - Future Trivia Answer
I tried to track down a Wings game summary video last night after getting home from a different hockey game; too many barley pops to seal the deal so thanks Milkman Dan for posting this and thanks for detailing the significance; I'd just heard young Russian scores shootout gamewinner and had visions of Datsyuk v2.0 even though that it will likely not work out as well for Evgeny; a boy can dream though...
Can Trump read?
But a real estate mogul who NEVER reads rental agreements that he signs?
A businessman who NEVER reads contracts that he signs?
That's pretty abnormal.
After 50+ years of doing it, would would expect him (or anyone who can read) to have picked up the terminology, wouldn't you?
Now he's a president who probably doesn't read the laws, executive orders, and military orders he signs and has no experience at all dealing with any of them. Terrifying. If he's not prepared to read fine print, he absolutely should not be running a company, much less a country. Details matter, ignoring them in favor of his interpretation of a verbal summary (that he can't review or compare with other sources) puts his advisors in total control. No thanks!
Can he even read the constitution? How can he defend it if not? I need irrefutable proof to move on to his next disqualifying flaw, because to me this one trumps all others.
I think this is a tad bit overblown; I have to review agreements, (T&C/MSA/etc.) all the time and sometimes the wording is INTENTIONALLY vague and broad, and sometimes legal meanings of words and phrases are not the common definitions. It's why you have legal counsel.
I'm no fan of Trump, by any stretch, but a 70-year old dude who doesn't like to read fine print isn't terribly surprising to me.
