Not so much non-vegans, but companies that sell non vegan products are viewing it as a loss of revenue. Even a 7% drop in sales is a lot of money on a country sized scale. They're constantly putting industry sponsored spokes people on talk TV to tell you that being vegan will make your dick fly off like gluten :-)

Particularly primary agriculture industries. Companies further up the consumer chain just end up selling a vegan line of their product, so they aren't so worried about it - which is also why I'm more inclined to believe that the figure is closer to 7%, as I'm seeing even mainstream companies sell non-dairy variants of their flagship ice cream, and large pizza chains with vegan pizzas on their menus. I'd imagine it wouldn't be worth their while unless they had some good numbers to go by, and would otherwise leave it to niche companies.

But it could also just be that they've discovered that vegans will basically do their brand promotions for free over social media, and could just be exploiting that. (Every time a company releases a vegan version of X, a Facebook storm ensues, and companies like free advertising)

I'm addressing his comment about the invasion of Iraq happening because of "Saddam's campaign of genocide against his own people and his conquest of Kuwait." when that's absolutely not how the invasion was sold to us by W. That's only partially how Desert Shield was sold by Sr. (Keeping in mind the gassing had happened years earlier), but that didn't remove or even target Saddam and barely went into Iraq, so clearly wasn't designed to remove him from power or stop his atrocities, just to stop his expansion into our allies territories.

The invasion of Iraq and direct targeting of Saddam was by W, not Sr. and are what led to the current state of the region far more than any result of Desert Storm...what I thought he meant by "blaming Sr. for Iraq"....I read that as 'blaming Sr. for the current state of Iraq and the region'.
I may have misunderstood what he meant by "blaming Sr for Iraq", but I can tell the difference between bushes.

Kavanaugh replaced a moderate ( Kennedy ), which tilts the supreme court to the right for once in a long time.

Next might be Ginsburg. At 85 and looking frail. A hard liberal stepping down and being replace by a moderate would make replacing Kavanaugh look G rated.

Replacing with a conservative would be an XXX storm by the left.

What i was trying to say is that the thousand year rain event is not a one storm event. What makes it a thousand year rain event is that there were two of these storms in a two year period. That was my understanding. Maybe im wrong but it's what i took from that quote from the Washington Post article. The thing is the title of the article(basically same as yours) makes it awfully confusing to what's what. I give up.
