Indie 103.1 off the airwaves...The Police "So Lonely"

poolcleaner says...

Wow...I made it to the sift! No more Scarlet "P"! Whoot!
Thanks for the upvotes. I love this song and I'm going to miss 103.1!

I was heartbroken when I started up my car and mariachi music was playing. The sound of mariachi is the death rattle of radio. It was inevitable, but still, every time 103.1 or 107.1 -- every time a good indy radio station goes off the air, I die a little inside. Jonesy, Full Metal Jackie, Henry Rollins and Joe Escalante all on one radio station. I cry.

At least we still have Jim Ladd and Free Form Rock n' Roll on 95.5.

Long Gone - Music video

Tupho says...

Boring music, boring video! The band kinda reminds me of boredom. Another new band for me to not listen to. The fact that it was created entirely from 45,000 Photographs taken by a Nikon DSLR, is not impressive. Animation has been around for something like a hundred years and still every time someone makes an animation film everyone goes: wow! thats so...art...like! It must have taken an eternity! you must be a very patient person! how many images? 45.000?!?! wow thats a large number. you must be able to count very far.

sorry. Hope noone got personally offended.

Angry Cat Bites the Hand that Feeds

elysse says...

That thar cat is clearly playing: no tucked back ears, slapping but still giving time for the owner to move their hand. I've known cats like that, they're just very vocal and rough.. They're sort of the WWF wrestlers of the cat world.

I've actually never had a hangover, for some reason. I guess I'm just lucky so far, but I'm sure that in time I'll start to get them; I know several friends that didn't start getting them until about their third year of college, lol.

That sounds pretty neat! I mean, you are an architect, if I remember right, so that sounds like a relaxed way to put your skills to good use. I'm majoring in East Asian Studies, but realizing that I have to write a bunch of papers and that I have no clue what I'll do for a living when I graduate in another two years kind of makes me wish I had decided to go for Molecular Biology after all, haha.

I could never get TOO into real punk stuff, but every now and then I listen to something on the hard side. Mostly I go for stuff with moving melodies/harmonies. I guess as of late I've been back on a huge Death Cab for Cutie and the Smiths kick, sort of rediscovering how much I love both of those bands.

Lately I've been really into 88 Fingers Louie, and discovered The Casualties. Mostly just reintroducing myself to midwest punk. College eh, what are you studying? My side business is doing a lot of design consultant work. Basically if people need an interior designer, carpenter, blueprints, or would like a remodel, my company is there. They can also hire me to do estimates, teach do-it-yourself classes, and submit construction permits.

It's mostly residential work which is a nice break from a lot of the commercial and institutional work I do with my other job.

Don't party too hard, you gotta remember how much fun you had in the morning.

Nothing new that's been super impressive to me, though there have been a few good ones here and there. One of my favorite bands, Plus-Minus, dropped a new album on October 21st though, and I was very impressed with that. Other than that, I've gotten a bit more into stuff like Braid and Hey Mercedes. Pretty busy with school, but somehow I still make time to party harder than I should each weekend.

What sort of business is it? Doing two jobs sounds pretty exhausting.

Pretty good, how about you? I started my own company a couple months ago but kept my old job so I haven't had a whole lot of time to sift lately. Discover any kickass bands lately?

Oh man, you'll get there so much faster than you realise, it's weird how it goes. I'd absolutely love to do you a post, but i'm completely retarded when it comes to all this html stuff and it would be crap! But i'm sure it'll happen soon, you're a brilliant sifter, I really mean that

YAY indeed and thanks for noticing! Only thing is- promotes become available only at Gold-100, so it's still some time 'till I'm able to promote the sift out of... the Sift.

No worries though, with my new abilities it'll probably take even less than going from 10-25 did

In reply to this comment by alien_concept:
Yayyyyyyyy you did it! Finally, well done. Now come on lets get you promoting!

The Miniskirt Test

viewer_999 says...

Funny thing about this women might not know, is that many times, we'll have the opportunity right there in front of us (another example is the bent-over-down-the-blouse, or the squatting-whoops-I-see-crack!), and actually be unable to control the urge to look away out of shyness/shame/embarrassment/fear of being caught. This is somewhat reflected in this video.

Then of course later, we're horribly angry with ourselves for not simply staring and soaking every second of it up.

...And still other times, we get caught on purpose.

Open Letter To Mother (Femme Talk Post)

kronosposeidon says...

Happy Mama's Day to all of the ladies who've had their uteri play a vital role in the survival of the species. Couldn't have got here without you. You've taken a biological function and raised it to an art form. Raising kids has NEVER been easy, and even the best of mothers can still have their kids turn into rotten seeds. (No offense, rottenseed. I know how much you love your mom.) All you can do is your best, and I know that most of you do. My mom worked most of my childhood, yet she still found time to be warm, loving, and affectionate with all of five of us. I have plenty of trials and tribulations with just one child, so I'm still amazed at how she did so well with five little urchins at once. So I salute you, Mom, and I salute all the moms here today.

I also wish a Happy Mommy's Day to all you ladies who have not reproduced. You're also playing a vital role in the survival of the species. I'd hate to think of a world in which every woman has fifteen kids. So I salute you too.

Though some of this is tongue-in-cheek, the sentiment is real. If some of you don't care for my sense of humor, blame my mother. She encouraged me by laughing at my jests.

Groovy Dancing Girl 3

moodonia says...

Does anyone know how this is done? The filming I mean? In the other vids it looks sped up but is still in time with the music. Is that something to do with the frame rate of the camera? Like the woodstock video of Hendrix, he looks sped up a bit but its not... if I make any sense.
