It's all good. I have my STI for about 6 years now. There is a larger than normal amount of people here at work that own WRXs and STIs. I think we have around 6 or 7 here. We had one guy that had an EVO, but he sold it a year later for an STI.

While I love driving my car in summer, winter is where it really shines. With my excellent Nokian winter tires, I am able to drive mostly unhindered by the snow. Stopping is very good, too, but it means that I actually have to watch the guy behind me, because there is a really good chance he cannot stop as fast as me. I have to allow for that at changing red lights.

But yeah, screw those EVO guys!

I'd like to apologize for generalizing you into the admittedly small group of EVO and WRX drivers I've encountered over the years. You're honestly the first person that doesn't fit my particular prejudice.

The very epitome of hipster driving.

I personally can't stand the way some locales actually ALLOW bikes to "lane split" or "filter". Everything about it just reeks. I do however enjoy when some Ken Block wannabe can't keep all four of his overpowered, all-wheel-drive should-be-simple-to-control-but-balls-are-bigger-than-brains econobox hipstermobile wheels on the road.

So despite many of these encounters seeming like they could have been better resolved without the interference of random strangers, this illustrates surprisingly well what ought to be a universal practice.

Feels are all well and good, but you don't have to descend into the pig sty of emotions and sentimentality to recognise the utilitarian principle that whenever you can pay a small cost to give someone a substantially larger gain then humanity makes a net profit. You're enriching the entire world; and you live in the world, so that's usually a good idea.

Kindness? Pah. Karma? Pah. Game theory and rational cooperation? Yes.

Tell the FCC that they should reclassify broadband internet as a telecommunications (or "Common carrier") service. Right now broadband is regulated like TV or radio, which doesn't make sense.
This is a public comment for the public record...official government stuff... so you'll have to include your actual name and address.
You can also email the FCC directly here: http://dft.ba/-tell_the_FCC

to be fair, if they could make this method of parking more economical, we could probably reclaim a lot of land that just goes to ugly parking lots.
There are plenty of automated parking garages. Next to my office there's a new-ish apartment building with 2 automated garages http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=40.739964~-73.983752&lvl=20&dir=0&sty=x~lat~40.739964~lon~-73.983752~alt~-19.33~z~30~h~206~p~-3.2~pid~5082&app=5082&F

TOYOTA GT86: The Real Deal Advert

braschlosan says...

To add to Mizume's post, don't let the fanboys fool you - this is a Subaru mechanically with the styling done by Toyota. It is essentially a later revision engine in Subaru's line of completely computer designed engines, starting with the EZ30. Reliability, weight, clearances and overall size have been optimized for the application and this is part of the reason 0w-20 oil is specified.

People would try to convince you that its "Toyotas" direct injection design but this is not entirely true. The specifications for the components in "Toyotas" direct injection setup are from the same suppliers that other auto makers have access to. To give you a similar scenario know that the engine computer from an Evolution of recent years are nearly the same as the engine computer from an STi.

While not sharing parts directly it is obvious that the FA20 (BRZ engine) and the FB20 (Impreza engine) are of the same design. There are already plans for an "FB20 Turbo" so it is only a management decision holding up a turbo BRZ.

I'd argue the biggest issue holding up tuners from making big changes is the gasoline direct injection. Yes there are people who have dealt with GDI tuning but this is a relatively new field.

The Evolution of the Apologist

messenger says...

The difference between religion and science is that science updates its knowledge based on evidence. That's how we make fun of religion: pointing out they do not update their knowledge based on evidence. Your question is about why we make fun of religion. The answer is that for a set of knowledge that is contradicted by evidence, we believe religion has undue influence, and we seek to reduce that influence. One example is that abstinence-only education programs correlate with rises in sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Abstinence-only education is religiously motivated. Science would recommend giving people condoms and educating them on how to use them, reducing both unwanted pregnancies and STIs.

People can read and believe whatever they want. When it starts to matter is when people who believe false things gain real political power and create laws that harm people based on the false information. Another's right to act on their faith ends when it begins to unduly affect the lives of others.>> ^dirkdeagler7:

I do think that poking fun at the bible, and the old testament for that matter are seen as more clever than I feel they really are. I mean religious people could make endless videos about some of the most brilliant men in history PROVING to the world something that we now know to be not quite right, and then using them to make the point that science changes its mind and has inconsistency too (is matter points or waves people?)...but what would be the point?
Harping on the lack of logic in a book written by and for people in antiquity is a waste of time, even if the book was divinely inspired why assume that it would be any different than all the other books/literature at that time? If a prophet spouted off things about big bangs and everything being made up of tiny dots that sometimes acted like waves back then...he would have been laughed at or burned!

This is not an accident. The typical extremist Christian position on AIDS is that it's punishment by God for your sinful act. They do not believe they are curing these people any more than we do, they are simply taking away that which keeps them alive so that "God's plan" can take its course. If that includes infecting even more sinners before you go, all the better.

I can see no other reason why there are so many efforts made by Christian churches to stop the prevention and treatment of STI infections.
