CycberTruck Beats a Porsche 911

newtboy says...

So the top of the line Tesla truck costing over $100k can beat an old base model Porsche while towing up to 2300 lbs (my guess is it’s probably just a shell at +-500lbs) under Elons supervision in a 1/4 mile. How many runs did it take to get this shot? Absolutely more than one.

Total fake. Let’s see it in real life booby, with a new 911 turbo that’s sub 2.2 seconds 0-60mph (road and track said 1.9 seconds), not an old used base model against a race prepped truck and not using launch, in fact not even reving the motor for a fast start, you can barely hear it, but you hear the truck tires chirp. Also, given another 200 ft, even that Porsche would have won, of course EVs have better off the line acceleration, a leaf beats a Porsche in a 1/8 mile. Nice try Elon.

Elon is still butt hurt because Porsche beat him at Nürburgring last year, taking the lap record from a special plaid using a standard Taycan (which is cheaper too), so he’s trying to save face with this fake comparison.

He’s promised big before and fell flat on his face, remember bullet proof windows?
Notice the specs he lists are his claims for an unloaded high end special >$100k model, not the base model and absolutely not the race we saw.

Don’t you hate being lied to? I do.

To remind @bobknight33 in a place where he can’t erase it and pretend he doesn’t know what a baby criminal his MAGA daddy is, Trump, coward that he is, walked away from two retaliatory lawsuits today, one against Cohen for revealing the payoff to a porn star to hide his affair and humiliating sexual performance because he was absolutely terrified of being deposed by someone who knows his secrets, and the other against the judge hearing his NY fraud case Judge Engoron, and then he ran away in shame after saying he would show up in court every day to stand up to the judge and DA, but instead fled to Florida after 2 1/2 days of grumbling in his seat. 😂
Trump claims he will refile against Cohen after he wins his criminal cases, so never. Cohen will be filing if he hasn’t already to recover maybe millions for defending the frivolous lawsuit and he will win.

Trump was tossed off the Forbes richest Americans list, citing a $650 million loss on Toth Senchal, the closure of all of his New York businesses, and the absurdity of accepting his own valuations for his properties like $650 million to $1.5 billion for Maralago he himself said wasn’t worth $20 million last year in court in an effort to try to avoid taxes. Truth is he may be exceedingly deep in debt well beyond the true value of his holdings…in debt to hostile foreign powers and criminal organizations.

Republicans have finally realized rules they put in place make him ineligible for speaker…you might think they would have looked into that before floating the idea but no. You people are so inept and incompetent.

Again he’s been exposed showing top secret highest classification level military secrets to foreigners for no reason beyond braggadocio. This time exposing nuclear submarine specs including payloads and stealth capabilities to an Australian who instantly told everyone he knew and some he didn’t…making the military secrets public knowledge. That’s treason…you know the penalty for treason, don’t you? String him up! 😂

Big daddy T is having a very bad really terrible day/week/month/year. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.

EV Global Market Share Exploding;

newtboy says...

Interesting to get a video about all the competition Tesla now has, many with more advanced features and better specs and price, from Bob who usually argues that Tesla controls the entire ev market.
More surprising, the only Tesla news it contained was about their current financial struggle and how they need new revenue sources like sharing charging stations with other manufacturers, making it harder for Tesla owners to find one not being used in high demand areas (assuming they modify them to use standard universal charging connections).

Odd bob isn’t voting for his own video.

Tesla Cam captures INSANE crash

visionep says...

I hope everyone escaped without long term injuries.

I wonder how liability works in a case like this.

Possible scenarios:
1. Freak accident, no one is liable.
2. Truck owner is liable, but only because they modified their car from manufacturer spec?
3. Truck manufacturer is liable, faulty construction?
4. State or federal government is liable because of something in the road that make the truck's tire fall off.
5. After market kit provider or after market kit installer is liable because their modification lead to the failure that caused the tire to come off.

I wonder how it all worked out.

Tesla Reveals Robot at AI Day 2022 (HIGHLIGHTS)

If you really believe their claim here that the first untethered walking test was done at a press conference in public, I have some hurricane proof property in Ft Meyers to sell you.

Under $20k…I hope that’s not as overly optimistic as the semi truck specs were.

It’s pretty far behind Boston Dynamics in ability, they can do flips, hop, even dance. I hope the production version is all they claim, but I’m not holding my breath.

Tesla DESTROYS Q1 Earnings,

newtboy says...

D’oh!
Hovering in the low 700s now. So much for this surge. Oh boy indeed. Lol.

Bad news, Ford just announced they give customers a right to repair their own vehicles, unlike Tesla.

Tesla keeps its tech secret, uses proprietary tools they don’t sell, and goes the extra mile to make sure only Tesla service centers can work on a Tesla, allowing them to charge $15000 for repairs that should cost $700 (and do at the few after, aftermarket Tesla repair shops). This is because Tesla is a software company like Apple, and tries to use the same hyper control scheme that Apple does….essentially saying you just rent your Tesla, it’s not really yours to modify or repair.

Ford designed its crate motor, now available for aftermarket projects btw, the same motor in the E-mustang and soon in the e-f150, to be simple to work on with normal mechanics tools. They’ve indicated a willingness to make their systems open source so anyone can fix them. This is going to make Ford a much better choice even if their specs don’t measure up, and it seems they will.

Sorry, @bobknight33, it’s not looking great for your “all in on one stock” plan. So you understand, in order to be a good deal, Tesla stock still needs to drop by 4/5…or down to around $150 +-. That would put its PE ratio around 20….still high, but considered decent these days. 100 PE is just insane.

Waiting for the spec that says it akes 10 minutes to inflate, battery life last 10 mins and 10 more mins to deflate and pack up. All for going 5 miles per hour - maybe.

Might be better to just run for 30 mins and arrive faster to the destination, and not be saddled with a useless backpack.

I'll wait for ver 3.0 before I'm on board.

Exclusive Look At New Killer Drone Small Enough To Fit In

spawnflagger says...

If that's the selling price to military, probably includes licensing/chips for secure comms, as well as testing & certification to some arbitrary mil spec.

and while it's way cheaper than a Hellfire missile, this thing wouldn't take out a tank, and likely not even armored car. might be enough to penetrate the tank of a fuel truck though...

newtboy said:

Why are they even $6k? FPV drones aren’t 1/10 that much, and explosives are cheap. Any terrorist worth his salt could make 10 at home for that cost.

Drawing strangers on the NYC subway

StukaFox says...

I totally understand the woman who outright bursts into tears. NYC can be a lonely, alienating place. You close down to live there. If you're friendless and alone, if your entire world is a studio in Brooklyn, if you feel like a spec of nothingness and that your life is stripped of all higher meaning, imagine what it would be like to feel human contact again with a simple act of joy and kindness. For one second, she was a human being again. For one second, she saw the light of man's humanity and empathy towards others. For one second, she mattered.

Simple acts of joy and random act of kindness.

When people forget every other buggy game they ever played including Witcher 3 on console. The eyes in the game are customizable (did he skip character creation options?).

Yes it was buggy AF at launch. Most games are, especially massive complex games, 1.03 fixed a lot of bugs, so did 1.04. Even massive big budget releases like RDR2 had game breaking bugs, scripting fails, AI fails, etc.

Doesn't help that they had to try and make it run on console hardware that is well below minimum PC specs.

Introducing the Compact Disk

ChaosEngine says...

It's funny how he talks about the dynamic range of CDs, when producers decided pretty quickly that range was for pussies and What We Needed Was MOAR LOUDNESS!!

Regarding the scratch proof thing, apparently, the original spec for the CD was very fault tolerant. You could actually burn a cigarette hole through it and it would still play. However, it only held 60 minutes of music and the head of audio at Phillips demanded that it could hold 74m for one of Beethovens symphonies (I forget which one).

That story is probably apocryphal though.

Response to Trump's Video Game Montage - #GameOn

ChaosEngine says...

I'm glad they went this route.

There's a certain attitude that says that only cute, indie games about children with big heads lost in a scary world can be art (shamelessly stole that from Zero Punctuation), but big-budget action games are disposable nonsense.

And there certainly ARE plenty of good, clever, indie games and insanely dumb, tone-deaf, "press f to pay respects" AAA games.

But you can have violence be a part of your story and still be a good story. Hell, your story can be about violence and what it does to you. Spec Ops: The Line is a great example of this.

It's disingenuous to say that video games are nothing but sadistic murder simulators, but it would be equally disingenuous to pretend they're all sweetness and light.

The first God of War is as brutal and sadistic as they come and it's a great game. "Hatred" sets out to be the most brutal and sadistic game ever but it's terrible.

newtboy said:

Ok, it just seemed odd in a video responding to Trump's m rated game video. It made sense to me to counter that with a g rated game video with no violence at all. Granted, this is more honest in it's depiction of games in general, but doesn't juxtapose as strongly.

What if we get really good at drone AI and batteries?

ChaosEngine says...

"BTW, the batteries comment because: short flight life"

Yeah, but how far does the drone actually have to travel?

Even the most basic drone can fly for over a kilometre. The range is generally limited by the control signal, more than the flight time.

I would hazard a guess that a decent spec autonomous drone could easily fly 5km with existing battery technology.

Isn't that enough for this kind of purpose?
