Child Birth as Orgasmic Experience

dag says...

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

^No, I'm not kidding. I've experienced an atmosphere of intimidation in a standard hospital birthing ward. I've also experienced a home birth. It's night and day.

In the hospital, women are strapped up to incredibly uncomfortable fetal monitors and made to lie in a certain position so the computers back in the nursing station can get an accurate reading- there are women screaming, alarms going off and an atmosphere of medical emergency. It's no wonder that labor often stops - when women feel they are not in a safe place - and a Caesarean becomes necessary.

The birth of our second child was in an environment much like the one in the video - except no pool. We had a qualified midwife there to help us- with all of the gear, and a backup hospital on standby. We also had my partner's trusted friends - a group of strong women to be supportive through the whole process. Back rubs, soothing music and lots of support made for a fantastic birthing experience that I would recommend to anyone. Our baby was breach, and over 12 pounds.

My partner was also a member of a 100 strong homebirth support group, and we did six months of Bradley classes - so no, I don't think I'm speaking from a position of ignorance- but I'd love to hear your story, and why you think I am.

Rage Against The Machine - Testify

The movie ran through me
The glamour subdued me
The tabloid untied me
I'm empty please fill me
Mister anchor assure me
That Baghdad is burning
Your voice it is so soothing
That cunning mantra of killing
I need you my witness
To dress this up so bloodless
To numb me and purge me now
Of thoughts of blaming you
Yes the car is our wheelchair
My witness your coughing
Oily silence mocks the legless boys
Who travel now in coffins
On the corner
The jury's sleepless
We found your weakness
And it's right outside your door

Now testify
Now testify
It's right outside your door
Now testify
Yes testify
Its right outside your door

With precision you feed me
My witness I'm hungry
Your temple it calms me
So I can carry on
My slaving sweating the skin right off my bones
On a bed of fire I'm choking on the smoke that fills my home
The wrecking ball is rushing
Witness your blushing
The pipeline is gushing
While here we lie in tombs
While on the corner
The jury's sleepless
We found your weakness
And it's right outside your door

Now testify
Yeah testify
It's right outside your door
Now testify
Now testify
It's right outside your door

Bachmann: Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh's 2% Are Critical Mass

MaxWilder says...

Those shows are so popular because they provide rationalizations for the pervasive cognative dissonance that is necessary to support many conservative positions (not all of them, some are quite justified). Ideas like pro-life and death penalty, religious charity obligations and anti-welfare or health care reform, or religion and gun advocacy, are all contradictory stances which need regular reinforcing rationalizations in order to sooth the anxiety that is produced by ignoring or denying their own logical fallacies.

My theory is that the popularity of these shows is directly proportional to the unsustainable nature of their positions.

I never heard the Alex North's score.

Vangelis is very soothing. I actually found a internet radio station called Bluemars that plays alot of really nice spacey chill music.

Anyway here is the embed, just change the embed src with this i highlighted the change in bold, and it will start from the song.

=en&fs=1&start=110">

In reply to this comment by UsesProzac:
I don't know how to do that fancy embed stuff. Maybe you could help me? If I spoke Japanese, that intro would be more entertaining..

I love Vangelis' soundtrack for Blade Runner. It's amazing.

Alex North's original soundtrack for 2001--which didn't get used, ultimately--is pretty great, as well.

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
I love having this movie play in the background just for the atmospheric music and dialog. Same thing I do with 2001 and Blade Runner.

Might wanna add a $start=160 or so to kick it off from the music. The introduction is pretty lengthy.

Is This Change?

despite my feelings about alex jones' wingnut positions on the trilateral commission, bilderberg, and the cfr...

i'm upvoting because the essential message the vid infers is, as 'the who' so succinctly put it, 'meet the new boss, same as the old boss'

here are some legitimate gripes i have with obama and habeus corpus:

http://www.videosift.com/video/Guantanamo-Bagram-Is-there-much-difference
http://www.videosift.com/video/BBC-Investigation-of-Abuse-At-Bagram-Air-Base
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/04/11/bagram/

imho, the difference between bush and obama is black and white, literally... although obama can pronounce 'nuclear' ... i believe that his message of change wasn't much more than to convince the american people and the world that he was some sort of harry potter, who could fix all that was wrong simply with a wave of his big black wand

in reality, and from primarily an international perspective, he's the usa's global apology card, primarily to a western europe both worried and not-a-little-angry with america because 1. it gave them 8 years of gw bush, 2. was the sole remaining superpower in the vacuum left by the ussr's collapse, and was now viewed not as the cold war's 'great balancer' but as a post-cold war threat to both global security and international parity, and 3. through the burgeoning of instant mass communication afforded by the internet, the uneducated and largely impolite rabble of europe and the us were better able to ruffle each other's feathers, both innocently and maliciously

this two-way estrangement between the decades-long, erstwhile allies needed and continues to need to be smoothed over, and what better way than to present the world--at least on the surface--a polar opposite to bush and his ilk... a well-spoken, apparently sincere man of intelligence whose humble platitudes and defacto apologies at least try to serve as a soothing balm to the inflamed passions, old rivalries, petty grievances, and genuine concerns that had long lain dormant during the cold war, but were coaxed back to their previous vigor with the ill breath of the three enumerated items in the previous paragraph, which reput would be: 1. american arrogance, 2. a nascent eu's competitiveness and envy, and 3. the ignorance and polemics of the internet's unwashed masses

so... who 'won't get fooled again?'

Blankfist roasting on an open fire (Parody Talk Post)

Ornthoron says...

What the fuck? I come back from a week on vacation and find the roast already over? But then again, who would bother to take time away from their vacation to spend on blankfist. I know he will read this anyway, because he craves the attention, no matter how deprecated. You can't really blame him though, when the only human contact he's experienced are his mother and disabled hookers. He did try to spike up his social life with World of Warcraft at one point, but it didn't work out so well.

The forces that be obviously don't want me to grant blankfist the attention that he most definitely doesn't deserve, as my computer crashed trying to upvote comments in this thread. I had to take a pause from reading the comments and play some Bach on the piano to soothe my nerves, which were frayed from a mixture of pity and disgust. I will go through with it though, since the image of blankfist whimpering, yet unable to turn away from his computer is worth some frustration.

He likes to chastise others for their sense of humor, which is a little tragical given that his own perceived height of comedy is copying and pasting the word 'a$$gr@vy' into his comments.

If you could choose your own way of death, what would it be?
Death by holding my pee.
Not surprising, given his reputation among LA hookers as a urophile. He hates himself for this, and death by holding his pee is blankfist's idea of quitting his habit cold turkey.

I could write more, but this short comment should keep blankfist's fragile psyche in distress for a week or so. And frankly, I've got better things to do.

Can you help again?

In reply to this comment by Ornthoron:
It is not Air on a G string either; that one is an adaption for solo violin and piano. The music in the video is the real thing, by Bach himself.

Edit: Although it should be mentioned that the title "Air on a G string" is often misattributed to any version of this tune.

In reply to this comment by cybrbeast:
I think it might be Bach after all.
