Questionable Relationship Advice

Joe Rogan Talks Police Reform w/ Andrew Schulz

bobknight33 says...

The social contract is obey cops when asked. When this does not occur things escalate. Sadly both sides has amp up over the decades. Now both sides have lost control, respect and have distrust for each other.

Don't need to banning police dept just publicly change with both sides agreeing.

I propose, in big broad strokes.
No one goes to jail unless a serious crime murder, armed robbery or a warrant is out on you.

IF pulled over, be cool, comply, knowing nothing will result in arrest/ jail.

If you have a dime bag, kilo coke, etc, I don't care, they take it and fine you the value also. Also the right to gather you address and those with you. Then because e of your offense the PD ( where ever you live or moved to) has a 6 month right to knock and cursory search of your residence ( and those with you). Same deal they find, take anything illegal and fine of equivalent value. LB of weed, Kilo of coke I don't care. Take and fine. Guns take and if used in crime then warrant for arrest. Finding stuff allows cops to stop by again with in 6 months and now have right for thorough search. Same deal search, take and fine. If 3rd search occurs and find stuff then criminal charges filed if heavy drugs or amounts found.

With this in place no would / should put up a fight. Cops not to make arrest, populate jails or f over people with high court costs.

This should help change bad behavior, let minor crap slide, and bad dudes land in jail fair and squarely.

2020 Jeep Wrangler Rolls Over In Small Overlap Crash Tests

wtfcaniuse says...

You might want to watch all those videos again.

Hitting a parked car at 60km/h and not rolling would be a clearly better outcome. The parked car is not a solid wall, it cannot bring you to a "dead stop".

Hitting a barrier and rolling is clearly worse than hitting the same barrier and sliding along it, "bouncing" off it, spinning etc even if you're clipped by another car. Again even with the sharp swerve into the barrier it would never have been a "dead stop"

Hitting the car in front which has suddenly braked would be far better than a high speed roll even if the car behind proceeds to rear end you. The closest to your "dead stop" scenario and still far better than a high speed roll.

I'm arguing with you because you often backup what you're saying with demonstrable facts, in this case you're not. You're ignoring variables, using differing experience to draw conclusions and dismissing the severity of something based on your controlled personal experience of it.

"Citation? Physics. acceleration = Δv/Δt. Larger injuries come from higher g forces."

Has nothing to do with studies in vehicular CSI. I asked for a citation relating to maximum force/time being a primary factor in vehicular CSI not a physics equation and a stunningly simplified opinion. Again this is the shit I'm arguing with you about.

The Economics of Nuclear Energy | Real Engineering

newtboy says...

Kinda lost me when he claimed wind creates 11g CO² per kwh with no reference, calculations, or explanation.
Wind energy production is zero emission.
Are they including every gram produced by every step of construction and estimating a short lifespan, but not doing the same for nuclear, which takes exponentially more resources to build, run, fuel, store waste, and dismantle?
I also have a problem with him saying more expensive, higher profit natural gas plants have better prices because they're much HIGHER than nuclear prices per kwh.
He seems to ignore the spent fuel disposal/storage costs, which are significant in both cases, but while the natural gas plants don't pay for their waste (massive amounts of CO² and methane), nuclear has no choice.
Diablo canyon refurbishing was canned after Fukashima, because it's got all the same dangerous issues of being in an active earthquake/tsunami zone right on the coast with no way to shield itself from tsunamis. Before Fukashima, they totally planned to revamp and continue operations.
His levelized cost of electricity slide conveniently ignores the cost of environmental damage caused by fuel production/use.
Include all costs, coal is worst, followed by natural gas, then nuke, hydro, wind, and solar cheapest. Geothermal is great, but only in areas where it can be easily tapped, which are few and far between.

In short, his vast oversimplification and inconsistencies in what's included in his cost basis make his conclusions relatively meaningless, imo.

It's media being targeted (far from the first time) by one faction of the government, police, under supervision of the military (national guard) after being under siege from one 1/2 branches for 3+ years, the executive and 1/2 the legislative.
Fortunately the right wing doesn't control the entire government or they would be in their underwear in a wood 100 miles away and their equipment (not to mention their passports) would be gone. And they would never dare mention the incident.
If Trump wins in November, guaranteed that's where we're going, state media only, police as a club against political enemies, constant military control under constant emergency declarations, cancellation of elections, and a long hard slide into dictatorship.

Make being a police officer special circumstances instead of a shield from prosecution and the trend will reverse the day the first cop gets the death penalty.

This is not media being targeted by the government.
This is just a badly trained or commanded police force.
If this was the KGB they would be in their underwear in a wood 100 miles away and their equipment (not to mention their passports) would be gone. And they would never dare mention the incident.

This is democracy led by none other than the super intelligent and highly eloquent whatshisname whose solution to this situation is that more people need to be shot ASAP. The only hope is that the current administration is too incompetent to turn this into an outright military coup. But who knows?

Police reform? Gun laws? Stop putting people in jail based on race? Desegregate schools? Nah...

Oh dear. I knew you were halfway around the world! I am starting that slide into death called being over 65 and I am forgetting all sorts of things now. (I had to stare at my slippers for a full 90 seconds before I could remember the word. I knew they went on my feet though. Not that far gone yet.)

So yeah. Summer. We do something similar in about six months -- except it is light at 5 am and the sun sets about 9:45 pm. And never gets to 111.

I have been reading about your climate crisis challenges. My heart is breaking for you all.

It was 44.1°C (111.4°F) here yesterday at 6pm and sunset wasn't until 8:42pm. Sunrise was at 5:55am.

But anyway, happy return of the light We have an excess, I'm willing to share.

Little Girl Puts On Lipstick All By Herself

newtboy says...

I am not typical, never have been. I think you know this. ;-)

My brother lied....he invented an invisible friend who "made" him do anything he was caught doing. "Ockie made me do it." I never once tried that.
I did try to lie about some things as a kid, sure, but I sucked at it and always told lies that were easily proven false, and my parents never let me slide. Between the punishments and never getting away with them, I consciously gave up on lying before I started preschool...I just sucked at it, it never came naturally, and it seemed to consistently increase the punishment I was trying to avoid.
Also, it made me dislike myself.

BSR said:

Children typically begin lying in the preschool years, between two and four years of age. These intentional attempts at deception may worry parents, who fear their child will become a pint-sized social deviant.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

AeroMechanical says...

I was on Mr Rogers once in the mid 80's when I was about five years old. You can see me for about ten frames on Picture-Picture going down a slide at Frick (or maybe Schenley) park. So you know, I got that going for me.

What song makes a girl smile?

Hydraulics lift the assembly, and then slides it forward to set it on the ground. Then the base lifts up and slides forward and then lowers again to lift and slide the assembly forward again. Repeat. The interior view shows the movement. Sort of like a ratchet.

@newtboy can probably explain in fewer words.

Infinite Tucker Takes a Dive in a televised race.

BSR says...

That's the difference between us, @newtboy. I like to create a purpose for everything. For instance:

The dancing skeleton was happy with his victory, which was no easy task, as we can all see, it cost him his flesh sliding on the rough track. The loss was worth the dream.

The dancing deer was his dear mother expressing her happiness for her dear son achieving his dream and her dream as a dear mother. Win win.

Don't dream it. Be it.

Mueller Complained About Barr’s Letter to Congress

bobknight33 says...

Funny how the left can't get over the fact that Trump won and the Muller witch hunt came up with nothing. Fake news just can't let go of their Hillary will win by a land slide dream.

Those who get their news from CNN/ late night have been lied to.

Muller letter wanted 19 more pages released at initial 4 page summary Barr release. Barr released the full report that includes the 19 pages few weeks later when Muller's team was done redacting parts.

Sour grapes, sore loser.
