Kevin O'Leary on global inequality: "It's fantastic!"

enoch says...

@Trancecoach
um..did you just take an analogy i made and make that your entire premise to defend your position?

sighs.
look man.
i am an anarchist.
i am not defending the government.
why you assume that i do not know..but if i gave that impression, then i apologize.

let me posit this for your perusal.

as an anarchist i believe all systems of authority and power to be illegitimate until proven otherwise.
the burden is on those who profess authority.

as an anarchist i agree that a free market can work quite well,BUT you have never once posited the counter balance to that equation.
because even as an anarchist i have to recognize that there needs to be a system which keeps the hands on the scales that keeps the playing field even and the kids playing nice.

these systems are for the people,by the people and run by the people.
and if they begin to falter and become suspect in regards to corruption.
they shall be discarded in favor of a new system.

so when you say the government is too large and bloated and needs to be made smaller..i agree.
BUT..you stop there.

are you implying that we have a free market now?
did you actually infer that america begot its wealth and power purely through free market exchanges?
have you even been paying attention?

corporate america has been exploiting third world countries for over a century!
and our government has been the fist that punched the:exploitation, ruination and demise of those countries.hell thats the reason WHY they are third world!
hundreds of thousands of humans dying and suffering so we can have cheap crap to buy.
its shameful and if thats your idea of a free market.
well..you can fucking keep it.

you only seem to address one part of the equation.
or are you oblivious to the harm that corporate america has wrought for the past century?

who or what will keep that behemoth in check?
what do you think will happen when you take regulation off the table?
(and i am not making a case FOR regulation by the way.kinda sad i have to caveat that).
do you understand what feudalism actually is?
we are living in what is now being called a "neo-feudalism" state.
or as sheldon wholin called "inverted totalitarianism".

you point to the government but not to the invisible hand that owns it.which is corporate america.

so i am really trying to understand your position but if you are not willing to acknowledge that very real dynamic i dont know how i can take your position seriously.

then again.i am a pretty crappy capitalist.
exploitation aint my thing.
though i dig libertarian socialist.
has a ring ya?

The Big Bang Theory #00x00 - Unaired Test Pilot

Historian1986 says...

I liked the overall look and feel of the unaired pilot. The apartment that Lenard and Sheldon share is an academic's dream in my opinion; dark, cluttered with books and papers, a compact and sparsely furnished social area, a fireplace that adds character to the room and walls adorned with numerous thought structuring white boards. The apartment in the ongoing show struck me as very bright and open; I generally don’t like bright and open, though it does provide more room for physical comedy. The character development was touch and go but in the end I believe Lenard needs no improvement in either the unaired pilot or the ongoing show. I believe that Sheldon's character would benefit from a combination of traits from both the unaired pilot and the current show, most notably the social openness balanced by his high levels of humorous narcissism. I don't believe there is a way to improve on the lead female role, I don't particularly care for either Katie or Penny and find the presence of a female character that is so overly ditzy insulting. What is needed is a smart (PhD level) female character that possesses a keen knowledge of both her field (possibly Anthropology, History or Psychology) and popular culture. This would serve to distinguish her from both the Katie/Penny character and also Amy and Bernadette; both characters that have seemingly no knowledge or an air of condescension concerning popular culture.

The Big Bang Theory - No Laugh Track 1 (Avoiding the Shamy)

ulysses1904 says...

I thought the first two seasons were funny, when Sheldon's Asperger quirkiness was pretty amusing. But now that show has run its course, they got nowhere to go with it. Sheldon and Amy say nothing but stupid long-winded sitcom punchlines that definitely need a laugh track.

If a person has no job, they cannot afford to go to a casino, which employs hundreds. Since Sheldon thinks that Romney will create more jobs then Obama and more people will be able to go to the casino, and since Sheldon has actual business experience, unlike Barack Obama, I think it will follow that Sheldon is more likely to know what he is doing.
Go Sheldon! Go Jobs!

so you are saying most businessmen and ceo's are more interested in creating jobs than making profits/bonuses? what color is the sky in your world? and shareholders too are more interested in jobs created than return on investment, right? and a consumer economy can exist without a growing middle class, with a decent amount of disposable income?

i really like, "the more people the casino employs, the more people can go to the casino" point... really a proponent of debt slavery aren't you? lol

i'm sure you also believe in sustainable unlimited growth markets, and that the USA is #1 too

This. No matter what Fox and Rush and all the other screw over the working class so 1 or 2% of the population doesn't have to pay an extra 3% tax people say, Obama isn't a Liberal. He campaigned as one, but aside from bringing this country in line with every other country in the world except the communists and Islamic ones by ending Don't Ask Don't Tell (which even McCain said he would support when the military said it wanted to end it, but then didn't support it when they asked), he hasn't really done anything liberal.

I love how some on the right say even Liberals don't like Obama... yes, because he isn't the liberal people voted for, he's a centralist/left leaning Republican, at best a far right leaning Democrat. Now how much is Obama's fault is hard to tell. It could be he is a far right leaning Democrat, or he could just lack the balls to stand up the Republicans (likely), or he could be a victim of the promise the Republicans made when he won in that they would never negotiate and never give in and never let him win, that they would do everything they could do make sure his Presidency was a failure (even more likely).

I think I would rather have the guy who at least says he care about the wage slaves who can't make a living wage because some greedy ass holes think they deserve to take the money earned by those slaves so the ass holes can have a life of luxury, and thinks the greedy ass holes should pay a small amount to help those they stole from, over the guy who flat out supports those people who have stolen their wealth and thinks that the people who are struggling need to be punished more by taking away more of their support while refusing to cut things that actually need cut and would save the country billions more, because the key word in building the economy is building, and one doesn't build with the top, but you start with the bottom... let them have money to spend, then places need more people which creates jobs, which means more people spending, which means transportation needs start growing which means more jobs and more spending which means manufacturing needs to grow which means more jobs and more spending... but no, the Republican ideal is give money to the top, and while it hasn't happened for over 30 years, some day they say it will start to trickle down...

That all said, this commercial wasn't the best... they should have focused on how the feds and Nevada are investigating Sheldon Adelson's casino's actions for purported bribery of foreign officials...

A stupid video ad from a stupid Liberal. Obama is a fool of a president. He is in way over his head and doing such a shitty job that any person with a bit of intelligence will help Romney win, even if they are billionaires.

I glad I'm not dumb enough to vote for Obama.

Bitch all you want. You're still gonna lose the election.
Obama hasn't been a great president, mostly because he's pandered to the right. But he's still an order of magnitude better than Romney.

I'm not an American, I'd never heard of this guy before (not Mitt, Sheldon), but from the brief rundown on her site, he seems pretty horrible. (The fact he runs a casino was the first tip off)

And yes, Sarah is damn attractive.

Regarding your point on experience, who has more "being the president of the United States" experience? More "leader of the free world" experience? More "Commander and Chief" experience? I'm going to go with your logic, and assume that whomever that guy is must know what he is doing, and so it must follow that he is more qualified to lead this country for the next four years versus someone who has no experience being any of those things.

^ Will a poem do?

The standard model of particles, founded 50 years ago,
By abdus salam, steve weinberg and sheldon glashow.

They theorised three new forces, through which we used to find.
That gravity isn't the only all pervading influence of its kind.

The strong force exchanges gluons, of nuclear design.
Forgive the sense of humour, science needs a focused mind.

Before that comes the weak force, which must be overcome,
To fuse elements together and create a heavier one.

E-M forces follow; with yet a greater range,
"Quantum electrodynamics" uses photons to exchange.

Gravity we discovered first, Newton lead the way.
Applying it to the planets to map the celestial ballet.

From the smallest to the largest, we arrive at the present day.
The "Theory of Almost Everything"; so close yet so far away.
