Awesome. I love how it seems to prefer the same kinds of sounds as Attenborough's [sp?] lyrebird did, rolling trembling sounds. My favorite from this one is the drill that segways into a a sawing sound, which the bird seems to have stored as one single sound-experience.

Holy Grail of Energy?

Anyone remember the Segway? Those things were supposed to be as significant an advancement as the personal computer. I think I've seen two in real life...

Hype is cheap, if they really had this going as well as they claim they'd be mass marketing them already. This stuff was developed in 2006, do you really think that if it lived up to it's hype they'd have let 1/3 of it's patent life slip by without making any profit?

Ridiculous Electric Bike is Oddly Classy and Compelling

I really wanted to see it take on a Tall Starbucks Mocha Valencia pothole or maybe a half Venti Toffee Nut Latte curb.

ROFL :-D

but judging from the shaking movements of his hands i don't think that thing is a very stable ride. And because the price is in the range of a segway, it has to compete with that. If i had to decide between the two i would definitively go for the segway.

It does seem to have a bit of the wobblies...

Stormsinger says "Only 20 kph, and 7-9 km", which isn't far, but I think the idea here it to compete with the Segway-type of vehicle. It is intended to be something between walking and riding I think. The other thing that I see as being problematic about the riding position is the incredibly wet crotch you're going to get.

Very cool concept, but in practice it seems like it would have some issues. Speed is definitely one, but the steering mechanism is what kind of makes me feel it would be iffy... A normal bike has you hunching forward which allows you to keep your bodyweight balanced easily. With this thing, it seems like you would have to keep your posture in a rather uncomfortable position for a vehicle.
Of course the other question is how far does it go on one charge?

Still, it is a very cool piece of engineering

Your Opinion is Requested on a Court Case. (Politics Talk Post)

If usernames were blacked out on this page and I had to guess who the nutcase with the pink background calling everyone childish names was, I'd either go with imstellar or that halfwit Texas secessionist from the recent TYT clip.

Seriously, blankfist, Statist? Stalinist? Are you sure you don't want to go straight to Fascist Highway Nazi?

But to the topic at hand... I think traffic control laws and procedures need an overhaul. I doubt being a dick in traffic court is going to bring about much change, though.

The Privileges and Immunities Clause has absolutely nothing to do with this. That protects people visiting another state from discrimination based on their guest status. It also protects people who move to another state from being discriminated against as an outsider or newcomer. They can't stop you at the Nevada border and tell you "Californians aren't allowed here!" Neither can they hold you in Nevada when you attempt to leave based on your Californian citizenship. They can, of course, hold you for breaking a law or something of that sort. It doesn't matter if you're driving a car, a motorcycle, a tank; walking; riding a bike, a bus, a pogo stick, a Segway or a unicycle.

Looks cool! I wonder if there will be patent disputes with Segway since both use "intuitive leaning control" and gyroscopes for balance. Also refreshing to see a cool invention that I'd never heard anything of before -- unlike the thing that was going to change the face of human existance forever!

According to wiki the Segway turns around using the handle bar, only forward and backward movement is possible just leaning, same as this thing. So it already does the same things the Segway does without external controls.
