The Roots of Punishment, Gun laws, and Death Penalty in USA
Down vote: The author of this book (which I shall never read a word of) let loose from the go with a string of insipid statements and loaded language-The prison system, as well as ANY so-called "deterrent" to crime offered by the penal, law enforcement, and judicial systems of the United States is broken, in that it has become a beast that only works to line pockets of assholes, foment race hatred, and insure that eventually, EVERY CITIZEN will become a criminal as free will and natural law becomes some illusory fantasy.
The death penalty WOULD function to reduce crime, if the people running the system were not themselves, the most egregious of criminals.
Can't repair the prison industrial complex, it should be scrapped in favor of (insert sane alternative here).
Slavery is not gone in America folks.....The hydra has many heads.
A poem for FTL
This damn game! I have sunk waaaay too much time into it.
It's like an abusive relationship. It starts out all nice and friendly.
It's all "you rescued some colonists, have some scrap" and
"here, have a cool new gun" or
"awesome job killing that pirate".
Then suddenly... FACEPUNCH!
Asteroids, bitch! and now you've been boarded. and they've killed half your crew. Look at you, leaking oxygen and simultaneously on fire somehow. You disgust me. Why don't you just explode already?
Oh... you did.
I.... I see. christ, I didn't mean to hurt you...it's just.. look, I'm sorry. I just ... lose it sometimes.
Come back... please.
Next time will be different. I swear. I'll prove it. Here's a new ship!
And like a fool, I think "maybe this time...."
Jennifer Lawrence Bombing a Speech in the Most Endearing Way
These customary circle jerks are rather painful to watch. I don't care if protocol demands it, just scrap those pre-planned speeches already.
Police perform illegal house-to-house raids in Boston
Who crafts the language of the law and the descriptive terminology used to codify offenders? The argument here (see out-dated scrap of guidelines) is when does your average Joe become the "exigent circumstance" and who decides what, when, who, how, and where such a circumstantial decision leading to action should be brought into play....and at that point, what action and where is the agreed-upon line drawn? The justification for a door-to-door in Boston this week did not come from the referenced, " American law of criminal procedure" which is quite possibly, a fluid, up-for-interpretation piece of horseshit.
At face value...Jack-boots in armor going door-to-door with adrenaline pumping leads to fucking chaos or police state, and, sorry men-in-black, there are better ways to looks for kooks. Fuck the po-lice and their newfangled ways of doing their half-assed assignments! The goddamn bomber would have found his own ass in 3 more hours trying to buy tampons to stick in his wounds if half the cops looking for him were on a 3-day-drunk ANYHOW!
Yeah-The fucking police violated rights and used some jihad-teen's actions and their own balls as license, don't care how the law reads.
Black Woman Pretends to Be White, Job Offers Skyrocket
I'm calling shenanigans. I'm fairly sure browsing employers cannot see the race at all, so that eliminates that as a possibility. I know from experience whenever I've scrapped an old job search profile and created a new one...I got hits, when I hadn't heard from anyone for months. They may have something interesting going on with the name...I'm not sure. In my personal opinion I think it's far more likely the creation of an entirely new profile is explanation enough to account for the increase in attention. Racism and discrimination is still an issue in this country, but I don;t think this is a very good demonstration of the problem
Keep it simple R/C plane
It is indeed. And they're not that hard to make, but it does take some attention to detail, and a fair amount of time. But the friend that got me started built his first kit (which included building a plastic coated balsa wing from scraps) before ever flying a damned thing, and it worked fine.
My preference, if you're gonna build one, take the extra 10 hours and do it right. Then you'll know how to repair it after the inevitable crash. LOL
I did not mean that people would be inspired to go out and buy a piece of plastic with an electric motor. Just seems obvious to me that this is geared towards those that like inspiration and have the capacity to build things. Buying a wing sure made me think about trying it, Other wise I would have to build my own wing and that is some stuff I am not 100 percent comfortable with, the wing is the thing that makes it go in the air right ? ?
How it Feels (through Glass)
You're still getting a little too excited. This is a simulation. None of this is final. But even the promise of this does not obviate the need for a phone, The interface certainly does not have the richness of a phone. And I've not seen them suggest this is a phone replacement.
There are areas where it will struggle:
Simply being able to see a large amount of information from the device and without interfering with normal sight. With my phone I can read quickly and then be back in the real world by looking up. I don't see myself reading reams of data with this thing. I'd love to try though!
The interface is different/more limited. You lose haptic feedback and long-presses to expose different functionality. I'd love to see how good a feature-rich note-taking app will work. Voice-recognition is the most likely use.
But voice recognition remains difficult and performs variably.
And nothing to say of how slow it might be to change networks, adjust settings etc. Many things might be locked down to ensure a smooth experience for the average user.
So, integration (or how Glass will be useful).
Glass will serve as a nice entry-point into the phone experience. You could open the notifications in Glass but you might want to focus on recording some video.
Or you hover on a film poster and have IMDB open up the details on the phone. You might have a lot of these moments in a day. Imagine building up a list of pictures, quick ideas/notes, something useful someone said and then take your phone out only when you sit down. Everything is there for review. Glass might be a very good inbox.
I could instantly sync my photos. It's thus backed up on the phone straight away (and later on the net) and could be auto-shared - I don't need to issue copious voice instructions. Same with video. Glass will gather data but you might want it to hand stuff off to the phone. And net access isn't always guaranteed.
Looking up real world objects, scanning barcodes, even raw data and have it converted into usable data. You could hold up your phone but it's a nicer experience to have a document rendering onto your phone while you look at a page of data or even take a phone call. And you don't have to get the phone out of your pocket. Multi-tasking for the win!
I view pdfs and spreadsheets on my Note 2 all the time. I've not scanned much because it seems hit and miss and there's no cool software to do much with it. This would be amazing with my laptop. I often get printed documents or scraps of paper. Being able to instantly scan and digitise on the go would be almost revolutionary.
The point is Glass will be a very useful *extension* of the device you are already carrying around. Which people will be carrying around for many years to come.
I hope it's cheap as chips because getting it pinched off your face would be fun
I'd like to hear what sort of integration you have in mind, because I can't think of one that would be useful.
Glass is literally an Android phone in a new form factor. I haven't seen Glass doing anything yet that my phone doesn't do, the lone exception being attach itself to my face.
If they can solve the battery problem, I think they could bring Glass to market by 2015. That's not to say more traditional phones will be instantly be replaced but Glass will be able to fully replace the phone of those who do purchase it.

George Lucas' Response to Clerks and the Death Star Contract
Just a bunch of termites? JUST A BUNCH OF TERMITES??!! Friggin racist asshat!
First the pseudo Jamacian Jar Jar, then the Jewish scrap wheeler dealer and now termites having no intrinsic worth in a world of rational multi-species interaction. What a nazi.
How To Hot-Wire a Car
I have a car with a knackered lock barrel, so I had to hot wire it (I didn't have to - I could have bought a new lock barrel, but it's going to be scrapped soon so I thought I'd see how hard it would be to do this). This can all be done safely and without cutting any wires by just taking the thing apart. If you've got the time and all the tools it's easier and nothing needs to be broken.
I took the covers off, then disassembled the lock barrel. You can get to the rotary switch that is operated by the key and simply remove it from the barrel. You can then just use a screwdriver to turn it, and it will work exactly as the key in the ignition. Remove the lock barrel completely to remove the steering lock. This is far safer than breaking it open like in the video, as it won't slip back into place while you're driving. I've replaced the cowling around the wheel and the rotary switch now sits under the dash. You'd never know from the outside that it had been done. All I'd have to do to fix this is buy a new lock barrel and key set and fit them.
What key can start any car? A pikey.
Someone doesn't want Big Brother watching over him anymore..
Did they carry it away and sell it to scrap metal dealers?
The White House Experiments With Weed
This fetid incarnation of the federal mafia has nothing to do with freedom. It should be scrapped.
Self-taught African Teen Wows M.I.T.
I didn't see anything. He put together scraps to make dodgy equipment. Is there any universal application? Maybe...but I haven't seen anything beyond a bit of good ol' fashioned ingenuity.
Teen Girl Punched in Random Attack
human garbage.
Sorry, no justice for someone so far gone-
Britain has quite a reputation for brawlers, yobs...Would most eyewitnesses there immediately call 999 if they witnessed this? I know if this happened in Texas there would be at least 3 people chasing this asshole down to throttle him, before the police got him....The constabulary once he'd been arrested would not treat him much better.
He'd be handcuffed to a hospital bed.
Personally, if I had seen it, I would have stalked the guy after finding scrap metal or a 2X4 had I no aeresol can and lighter.
This Machine Creates ANYTHING
It certainly seems to like feminine hygiene products...>> ^doogle:
I wonder if you can specify what it can make, or it just forms whatever it can out of the scrap it has.
