Scientific Roadkill Experiment. It needed to be done.

Obama - healthcare law is constitutional

chingalera says...

Constitutional or not? Forget the constitution for a moment.
Ask yourself if the Mafiosi during prohibition (or now for that matter) who exacted payments from business owners in neighborhoods in Chicago under promise of either protection or retribution for non-compliance were protected under any laws save those of corruption, graft, extortion, and thuggery.

No difference here simply an emperor in new clothes. Rather than allowing such insanity to continue why don't we all pull our collective heads from our asses and wake up to the crime being perpetrated in just about every piece of legislation set forth from now on?

Let's suggest a solution to the health problem in the United States: Train the next two generations of TV-Addicted robots to stop putting poison in their bodies and place serious limitations on adverts for crap food. Dismember the Agri-lobby crowd inside the beltway. Dismantle Monsanto and other poisonous corporations dead-set on CREATING the health problems of the U.S. , etc. Ban advertising of a battery of staple products, fast-foods, etc.

Charge MORE money for crap food instead of making deep-fried roadkill from MC D's, Pizza Hut, etc. dirt, fucking cheap. Make the Mayo clinic's power foods list the most affordable stuff on the planet.

Reprogramming of dysfunctional habits is what is needed. Not some crap president's evil plan to keep the statusquo. He's a tool, his plan is bound to add to his legacy of shit. Fuck, the man is FROM the most corrupt city in the country!?? Can't those with an IQ over 110 get the gist?

Angry Grandpa learns a life lesson

He's trying to have his cake and eat it too. He's trying to be accepting of homos, and be a bigot too. This level of piss-warm "good" performance expectation comes from communities where they teach you how to clean roadkill for dinner and wash it down with moonshine to kill what you didn't cook off right. It ain't even safe for himself, God help him.

Dead Squirrel, Little Girl and a Video Camera

Skeeve says...

What I want to know is, how is what she did "wrong"?

I can't think of any moral reason why a girl, so young that she doesn't even conceive of death, holding a dead squirrel is wrong... unless you ascribe to the belief that all life is somehow sacred, in which case if you aren't a Jain or a vegan then you are a hypocrite.

There might be some cleanliness issues that might make you consider it "wrong" but she wasn't licking it or anything (not something I would be surprised about, considering her age) so if her parents clean her up she will likely be fine.

The people who clean up roadkill use a shovel to scrape a body off the road and into the back of a truck so it can be dumped in a hole in another location. Is what they do "wrong"?

I saw a girl, with no notion of death beyond a word her parents used, holding a squirrel she loved and wanted to keep so she could pet it and play with it. I don't see what's wrong with that.
>> ^schlub:

Yes, I do. And I wouldn't hesitate for a second to tell them what they are doing is wrong. You don't let kids do things simply because they like it. You have to draw a line somewhere.

Do you have children?

Louis CK: Interview on Lopez Tonight

nadabu says...

Sorry, Louis. Honking is often legitimate. For instance, when the person just ahead of you in the next lane decides to change into your lane and obviously doesn't know you are there. Maybe you're in their blind spot, maybe they didn't check their mirrors, maybe they're on their cell and oblivious to the world. The point is that the honk lets them know you are there and saves you from dangerously swerving or slamming on the brakes.

But i probably most frequently use the horn to honk at stupid animals that are gonna get hit. Neighborhood dogs and cats. Idiotic deer. Or other would-be roadkill...

Amazing Squirrel Fights off Crows - Protects Dead Friend

schmawy says...

I agree, or possibly a roadkill squirrel would have lots of scents and fluids emanating which would make other squirrels go sort of nutty.

>> ^sillma:

not that sad if you ask me. And he wasn't protecting the corpse, he wanted the meal for himself.

How smelly is the durian?

What IS this creature?!?

Playboy Bets He Can Take 15s of Waterboarding

dannym3141 says...

Terrible argument pennypacker, i'd chip in on the debunk but everyone's doing such a good job..

I'll say this though;
There is no argument about whether this is torture or not. It is. No one can debate or argue their way out of that, this is torture as accepted.

You can sit at a PC and speculate with your crew cut and your reflective sunglasses and a gun slung over your shoulder with a roadkill cooking nicely on the stove, but take a few seconds to take the word of experts. People who have done it, and people who have had it done, people who deal with torturous acts on a regular basis, people who know how to classify human acts:

"It is considered a form of torture by legal experts,[4][5] politicians, war veterans,[6][7] intelligence officials,[8] military judges,[9] and human rights organizations.[10][11] As early as the Spanish Inquisition it was used for interrogation purposes, to punish and intimidate, and to force confessions."
-- Wikipedia, please visit the site and check the sources yourself.

I think the difference here is flat out ignorance. You have been raised in such a way as to not consider to the fullest extent the impact of your actions on other people (or perhaps certain types of people who you don't class as people). The end result of which is that, whilst i can imagine what it's like, and feel the terror of being tortured on a regular basis for something i don't know, you can't even come close.

"During World War II both Japanese troops, especially the Kempeitai, and the officers of the Gestapo,[64] the German secret police, used waterboarding as a method of torture.[65]"
-- Wikipedia.

Now go and tell your precious war veterans that you salute to your flag every morning on your crisply cut lawn that they didn't suffer torture of any real kind you cunt.
