Self pouring beer machine

StukaFox says...

ALL you can drink?

This reminds me of those "all drinks are on us" cruises you see advertised on TV.

I mean, a thousand frat boys with an unlimited bar tab stuck on a boat with nothing else to do? Didn't anyone involved in this promotion see the videos of the Nickel Beer Night Riot in Cleveland? If they haven't, they really should, because the Nickel Beer Night Riot was the greatest thing to happen in the history of Western Civilization Assholery. I'm serious! If I had a time machine, screw going back to meet Jesus or killing baby Hitler: I'd grab me a ride to June 4, 1974, drop a dollar at the beer concession stand, then get hoot-chimp drunk and huck D-cells at the Texas Rangers until it was Penis Puppetry time at third base.

All-you-can-drink beer in Japan? That'd be like the Nickel Beer Night Riot, only with samurai and ninjas -- how fucking awesome would that be?! I'm half-way to the airport already!

God bless you, Japan!

First Look At Firefly Browncoats Unite Special

Firefly was very good while it lasted, but I've always been more of a Farscape fan and would much rather see a reunion episode of that.

I've watched a lot of Farscape. It is sometimes very good. Other times though it's just farcical. I mean I started watching it in the order that you're intended to watch it, and the Characters still had no consistency. You never knew where anyone stood at any particular time, sometimes they were mad, or happy, or friends, or enemies. It made so little fucking sense and the characters would change WAY too much over a very short period of time, and then go back like nothing was gained or learned.
I love their use of puppetry and the costumes for some of the characters, it was amazing. Some of the story lines and ideas were absolutely fun and great. The consistency and character arcs simply didn't exist though, they were chaotic at the best of times.

Farscape is definitely a show that has to be watched from beginning to end in order to follow the threads and feel like you know where you are with it. It's a stark contrast to Firefly where episodes are an entire story unto themselves with only a couple of background story threads being maintained at any one point. IMO Farscape's complex story is second only to Babylon 5's epic-ness when considering the story-arc aspect of sci-fi TV shows.

Also helps to be a little bit crazy to fully appreciate Farscape. A love of the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky helps too

I so did read them. Guess what else I read... the worst porn literature IN THE WORLD. So abysmal, I really enjoyed it. I'm allowed though, cos I do read reputable things too. And now I have a kindle, my new baby... fuck the kids, what kids???

Good to hear from you sugar, hope all is well in your world and your sons too. I'm glad you are only "semi-retired", the internet would definitely not be the same without ya! And Elton John died back in '97, shortly after Diana. Tragic times, we couldn't cope with the loss of two queens. Embalming fluid, puppetry and mirrors, no one knows the difference.

It's about damn time. I thought I was gonna have to kill some videos just to speed up the process. My tired, lazy, "old man" ass can't handle being on top anymore. Doctor's orders.

Enjoy your retirement. It's pretty sweet. I'm semi-retired from the entire internet these days. I actually started reading shit again. I wasn't sure if my addlepated old brain was up to it, but amazingly I can handle it. And there not even books about sparkly vampires. (Ha ha, I still know you read them.)

Now open your front door and brace yourself for a bright light. It's called the "sun". (Or maybe not. In England I think the sun only comes out once per monarch.)

I hope the kids are doing well. And you too. God save Elton John!

I am now placed firmly on top of you! Finally, my greatest dreams recognised. I can now go into retirement, save me a comfortable armchair old man xxx

Blankfist's new sock puppets (Sift Talk Post)

Just had another look at the behind the scenes member information and there is no evidence of sock puppetry - but of course that all can be faked with the right amount of diligence. If this is a sock puppet campaign it's pretty obsessive to the point of being pathological. If we'd like to ban these people on our suspicions - I say we put it to a community vote.

No direct technical evidence of puppetry that I can find. Feel free to Siftquisition if you think you can make the case. >> ^Issykitty:
Love the cats... but the sockpuppets need to die.

Or instaban?

First indication of sock puppetry -- the non-voting of their own video.

I must say, though, this is a brilliant move.

I just hesitate to free you from your Dread Red P limitations....

Ah, what the heck. I'll upvote.

It's a good video

Welcome to the sift from fellow probie @G-bar above.

Do I detect a little sock puppetry? I've heard of mano a mano -- how do you say sock puppet to sock puppet in Spanish.

Or maybe this is just what it appears to be.

If that is the case, I don't know WHAT to say. Except a more pleasant "welcome" from me.

[edit] There isn't a lot of Bollywood here, so its charms aren't appreciated. This is a much more cynical site -- love story music videos don't do that well here. Kitty cat videos? Yep. That is where the Sift's heart lies.

Steven Spielberg presents "Oscar Bait"...I mean, "War Horse"

blackoreb says...

Regarding the theater-going-experience: there are some movies are just better when viewed on the big screen - if you can catch a late-in-the-run matinee, you avoid many of the crowd-induced annoyances. On the other hand, there are some comedies that I find best viewed in a room full of laughing strangers - those I see opening weekend.

I still hope to see the stage version of Warhorse, but for now the movie will have to do.
