Mad Max: Fury Road

9547bis says...

Hmmmm,
* I don't care much about the continuity, it was always paper-thin in the previous movies anyway.
* But if it's a prequel, he must end up with a sawed off shotgun and a handful of dud shells. And a stray dog.
* I hope it doesn't turn into a 300-fest; that's a lot of shit jumping in slo-mo.
* I hope it doesn't get too MichaelBaysed, that's a lot of Orange And Teal.
* One-armed warlord Charlize Theron: more of that please.
* Max tied to that car-pillory thing: awesome idea. Turns a gimmick into a cultural thing of sort in that universe.
* ...and it's not a 'Pursuit Special' anymore. It's the last of the Interceptors.

As mentioned above, this is a prequel to Road Warrior, part 1.5, so the 'V-8 interceptor' should be in it....BUT....it looked like they destroyed it in the trailer, and it HAS to come out of this movie intact to make any sense, because it's NOT destroyed at the start of the 'next' movie.
Also, you don't start your interceptor with the blower engaged, you just don't. The whole point of a 'selectable' blower is you can turn it off both for easier starting and better fuel economy. Come on guys!

All that said, I really can't wait for this. I'm taking my coma drugs now, someone please administer the antidote 2 days before the premier so I can get in line for tickets. Thanks.

Why was the Falcon interceptor featured in the trailer? It was destroyed in the second film. BOOOO. No respect for canon. I refuse to see it.

Honest Trailers - Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones

I thought he was pretty good in Jumper, but then again I didn't hate the star wars prequels as much as other people apparently. I mean, they were worth it for the Yoda light saber battle alone imo

I sometimes wonder if maybe Hayden Christensen would have turned out to be a great actor if it weren't for his first major role being directed by George Lucas.

Okay, maybe not, but I do feel for the guy because it clearly is the directing that ruined his character.

So... if Star Wars is all about action, adventure, chivalry, pirate movies and swashbuckling, WTF is up with the prequels?

Lucas forgot about all that and thought, "You know what this series needs is some galactic C-Span, whiny teenagers, overly contrived plots, and cutesey CGI comic-relief characters. Oh and don't forget a double-dose of nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (because Luke didn't sell it enough in Empire)."

Man of Steel from a Baby's Perspective

Just watched it two weeks ago and I thought it was much better than the reviews gave it credit for. However, I do agree with some of the critics' comments. For example, I felt the romance was forced plus the kiss scene just felt off to me--it would have been more natural if they had just been friends in this film and they saved the romance for a sequel.

There were also some just plain weird scenes--Superman flies to his Mom's rescue but only plows down Zod while leaving his mom alone with five or six of Zod's officers...wtf?

I tried showing the movie to my 2.5 year old (she likes action movies) but the fighting and effects were a bit too realistic for her and she got too scared to watch it. Star Wars (the prequels and the Clone Wars series) are more her speed.

This film was, to me at least, the greatest super hero film to date. Ever. I just can't get enough of that action, and the pacing, dialogue and maturity of it was just icing on top. Superman is my least loved (most hated, even) super hero of them all, and I love this film.

The Emperor Voiced by Mark Hamill's Joker

That was really well done. *quality

Looking back on it, Vader without the mask actually kinda sounded like Bane.

But the really interesting thing is, after all the bullshit prequels, I'd forgotten just how good the end of Jedi actually was. Ok, the ewoks were annoying, but on the other hand, you had the death star space battle and tunnel run (still one of the most exciting set pieces on film IMO), and the fantastic confrontation with genuine pathos set to one of Williams crowning musicals achievements.

It's just awesome, and it made me remember why I loved Star Wars so much as a kid.

That and the Emperor fucking terrified me.

It always bothered me that Kenobi's description of him in Star Wars as "He was the best star pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior. And he was a good friend" didn't jive with what we got in the new prequels.

God, Alec Guinness was amazing in that movie.
