But there used to be a class of leader called a statesman...a rare, and possibly extinct breed. One that cared more about improving things for society at large than just shoring up his political party. Hell, even some politicians used to occasionally do what they thought was right, instead of toeing the party line.

But that pretty much died once Ronnie started (or took advantage of) the culture wars.
