Hiker Followed By Bears

newtboy says...

I'm happy that I have run into bears here. It makes me feel like our area isn't as devoid of wildlife as many places are.
We have all those listed, plus skunks, possums, gophers, salamanders, elk, and yes, bears. Once I even saw a porcupine walking down the highway.
Twice I've had bears cross a river less than 50 ft from me while I was fishing just blocks from home, and before I built my fence they ravaged my apple trees every year with the elk and deer.
It's still a possibility that a bear is what paralyzed our puppy in our yard last June. We never found out what happened to her, and she's not talking, but she is up and walking.

I hope I never run into bears in my rural area! I only had seen birds, coyotes, dogs, humans, snakes, butterflies, (w/rabbit)s, horses, bun(nie)s, cat (just one), squirrels, raccoon, etc.

Awkward public aquarium "touch tank"

Shepppard says...

Normally I don't feel terrible for most animals in this type of situation.. They usually have a good amount of space, free food, and don't have to worry about predators.

This, however, looks like they're keeping that octopus in an incredibly small space

It'd be like keeping a porcupine at the zoo in a shoebox.

I don't like this at all and I feel bad for the octopus.

They are very intelligent creatures, and I hate seeing any kind of intelligent creature being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment and deprived of freedom, especially as their normal way of life foreseeably for the rest of their life.

Teddy Bear the Porcupine's Halloween Feast

chingalera says...

Porcupines are so cute and cool up close, and surprisingly familiar with humans-They don't spook easily, no doubt an attitude adaptation from having that impenetrable, spiny, predator eliminator suit.

God, what is that cute noise, a..aH..OwwWWitch!
