Bicyclist avoids crashing into a car, hits a light pole

jmd says...

bike is so in the fault. The car was inching although did end up slamming the brakes to avoid a full collision. The problem is the bike was going so fast and saw that in order to avoid the couple he needed to take his right side path around the pole. What he didn't see was the second vehicle behind the parked car that kept him from taking that path safely.

Turning too fast

I think the load crushed the grey control box (next to the telephone pole), so they went to the default flashers like most are designed to do in a malfunction.
I'm more curious how they went back to green.

how come the lights understood danger immediately? (started flashing yellow)

So dumb...

See, if you wanted to take a square right at 50ish mph you really shouldn't have nicked a Jeep.

Good fortune they hit that pole and not people.

Testing the ice

SFOGuy says...

I was taught to:
1) drill or chop holes close to shore first to check thickness
2) Carry a long pole/piece of wood (6 feet plus) so that if you fell, you wouldn't go under the ice (the idea of being swept under ice and not getting back to the hole you fell into...)
3) If going to rescue someone, tie off/get a line around yourself, and spread your body weight out by crawling/using a saucer/pan/kid's plastic sled...and offer them a line, pole, or thrown sleeve of a garment, not your hand.

anyway, looks like it was pond--they just lost some dignity.

Without it, it looks to me like it would have been worse. More directly head on with the drivers side of the 4x4, which would be moving, adding to the impact, and no steel poles absorbing some of the energy.

I still don't understand this traffic calming island...but even without it, this dude may have still been hit. Scary as hell.

Made you sandwich, dude. Table is set at the South Pole.

Good for her.

Impressive.

...but what's with labeling it the "longest journey to the north pole by any woman for two years."? Wasn't being the youngest person to ever do it enough without finding some other narrow set of circumstances where she's also the best at doing it? That felt bit Trumpian for no reason.

New Rule: Distinction Deniers

HenningKO says...

I think you can put everything on the spectrum of "rape-ish" "creepy" whatever... but still recognize that the spectrum has two poles, and a gradient in between. I don't have a problem with publicly discussing WHETHER some behaviour belongs on the spectrum, nor WHERE on the spectrum it belongs. Both are very much the point.

So...long and short of it seems to be that Reagan didn't really win the cold war and now we're decades behind.

I really wish we could make the whole region international, like Antarctica. The idea that even the poles will be dotted with oil platforms soon is really depressing.

Classic Example of Karma

From the yt description. The car has a bent axle from hitting a curb earlier in the day.

How unlucky do you have to be to be hit by a falling light pole? I guess they are just lucky they didn't get hurt.

@Fairbs

look at what i wrote.

i totally agree with you,and the mounting evidence that:

russian intelligence may have attempted to influence our elections, but name a first world country whose intelligence agencies do NOT try to influence elections,or unduly influence legislators to implement legislation favorable to their interests?

the argument isn't that russian intelligence did what every ..single..intelligence agency does on a global scale, with US intelligence agencies being the biggest offenders.

the narrative being shoved down our throats is that the trump campaign COLLUDED with russian intelligence to install trump as president,of which there is NO evidence..zero..zip..nada.

is there evidence that trump may (and let us be frank, most likely)have engaged in some suspicious and possibly illegal financial and business dealings with russia?

considering that no american financial institution will touch trump with a ten foot pole, and his global credit is in the shitter.also considering his blatant abuse of his son in law to garner financial loans from china with the promise of "presidential favoritism" (which is soooo fucking illegal).

i think it safe to say that trumps business and financial dealings with russia are,how shall i put this?
colorful and inventive?(and possibly illegal).

but does this translate to collusion to install trump as president?
nope..just a crooked car saleman abusing his status to broker deals with crooked russians.

you mentioned the 13 intelligence agencies.
do you mean the SAME agencies that were POSITIVE that saddam had WMD's?

the same agencies who were CERTAIN that assad had used sarin gas on civilians?

the very same agencies who were 100% proof positive that gadhafi had killed his own people?

THOSE agencies?

the very same agencies who are making the argument that russian intelligence colluded with the trump campaign and have not provided ONE lick of evidence besides:"trust us,we know".

sorry mate, you know i love ya,but i am gonna need some proof, because THOSE fuckers have lied to me more often than not.the term DEEP state is referring to the very agencies that have lied to us time and time again.

and i ain't buying it.

and for CNN to get pantsed in public by the likes of a slimeball such as james o'keefe and breibart..FUCKING BREITBART..they need to just walk out into traffic and end themselves.

not that i gave CNN much cred to begin with, but now they are just dead to me.a pimple on a syphillis infected rhinocerous's ballsack.

so much fail...but corporate bobbleheads do not experience shame,or guilt.

cuz they get paid to lie, obfuscate and gaslight you,and me.
despicable human beings...the lot of them.
