DJ Girl rocks your world

pcordes says...

I like how red-hat guy near the start of the video is shamelessly videoing her boobs. Watch his camera angle. I have to agree, she seems to love her boobs as much as anyone likes looking at them. Was this from a TV show or something? It doesn't look like a party, and most of the people up on the stage behind her look kind of lost and unable to dance to her rhythms. So I'm thinking guest DJ on a TV show.

As for the track, I liked it. Maybe not as much as djsunkid, though, but probably I would if I was in a dancing mood right now, instead of being a bit sleepy.

Anyone who thought this was too repetitive should avoid ever listening to plastikman, just FYI.

AWESOME! the hardest sifting man on videosift!

more posts, more votes, more comments, more discards, more saves and more promotes than anyone you can think of!

brought us Obscure Music (like Plastikman ), and Great Moments in Cinema (like Bande a Part).

loves popping, locking, and breakdancing to all kinds of music.

reminds us that the French always make better dance music, and that the Japanese have been cooler than us for over forty years.

best of all, always knows what's SUPER RARE, what's HYPNOTIC, and what's AWESOME.

Plastikman - Disconnect (trippy minimalist video)

"Richie Hawtin (born Richard Hawtin, June 4, 1970, Banbury, Oxfordshire, England) is a Canadian electronic musician and internationally-touring DJ who was an influential part of Detroit techno's second wave of artists in the early 1990s. Hawtin is best known for his haunting, minimal works under the alias Plastikman, a moniker he continued to use into the mid-2000s.

Hawtin is also known for DJing intelligent, minimal techno sets making use of high-tech electronics such as drum machines and digital mixing equipment. With fellow second-waver John Acquaviva he founded and still runs the Plus 8 record label in May 1990, and in 1998 he launched Minus (graphically represented with a boxed underscore in place of the "i"), a label primarily for his own projects."

This is nice. I like techno (Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman - his DE9 record reminds me of this) but dont know too many big names. I'm def. gonna check more out! Thanks!

Is it just me or is there a noticable slowdown (syncing the right most deck) at 1:25 ?

And a final note about DJ's. I think people dont realize the distinction between being a DJ and a PRODUCER. Any old goon can be a decent DJ and get the crowd pumped, but it's the producers - the people that create the records - that have the talent. Producers are almost always DJ's though
This is definitely a new level of DJ'ing though. Definite talent here.

In the drum n bass world, Andy C is known for his DJ skills - double drops, teasing tracks in only for a few seconds.. relentless. Curious? check out his Nightlife series of albums.

Interesting bit of trivia, one of the reasons that this track is remarkable is that is shows off Richie using his brand new Devilfish modified 303 that was sent to him by the creator in 1994.

Back in the early nineties crazy technoheads in Australia went absolutely berzerk, drilling a dozen tiny holes in the faceplate of their Roland TB303. They hacked the circuitry and more than doubled the number of knobs and switchs. Suddenly the quirky, liquid sound of the TB303 is even more eccentric than ever before.

The 303 is just smoking me . . We've never heard
anything like it . . just freaking out and literally bouncing
off the walls shouting 'Yeah! Yeah! This is what we want! This
is what we want!'"

Then I designed some circuit boards and a front panel so I
could do the modifications properly. The first one was my own
303 - which later went to Richie Hawtin. This is serial number
-001.
from: http://www.firstpr.com.au/rwi/dfish/dfspank.html

That's right, they loved it so much, they sent it to their favourite 303 wizard, Richie Hawtin, AKA Plastikman. The very first, and only one in the world. Serial number -001. Negative One.

This track is what Richie came up with. So hot!

Currently the idea of drilling holes in your 303 is terrifying. They are fetishized and totally collectors items. If you want a devilfish, you have to send your 303 to Australia and pay them to mod yours. They are so hard to find that they have sold for over $1000 on eBay. Sometimes WELL more. And this is for an instrument that has essentially one sound.

...

But what a sound.
