NCIS- The ultimate slap in the face for computer geeks

One of my favorite shows. As a computer tech, I learned to let go of this stuff a long time ago. You just have to think of it as metaphorical. It's just a way to get all the grandmas watching the show to understand that they were under attack through a computer.
Whatever your specialty is, there will be an absurd portrayal of it on television somewhere, written by people who don't understand it for the entertainment of people who don't care if it is accurate.

ditto on all accounts. I love the show and it always amazes me the new "inventive" ways they get the IT angle into a episode. I'm sure using vim in an ssh session makes more realistic scenes, but four handed keyboard double typing is just plain awesome.

turns out normal people don't find realistic computers scenes cool or interesting, who'd have thought it ?!

Zero Punctuation: Bioshock 2

NinjaInHeat says...

I hate when he just slams games for the sake of slamming, I really liked Bioshock 1 and I absolutely loved Bioshock 2, most of the things he points out as annoying/pointless/unoriginal are simply not... gathering with the little sisters is an absolute blast, it also compliments the improved combat system and the level design, setting up an area for a fight is much more satisfying than in the first game, especially when playing on harder difficulty levels. The dynamic between yourself (as a big daddy) and the little sisters is plain awesome, walking around with a sister on your shoulder and hearing her comment on things you do never gets old. The game is much longer, the levels are interesting, nothing feels repetitive, the finale is great (it sucked balls in the first game), I could go on and on about the great dialogue and the new weapons/plasmids but the point is: this game rocks, it's more than a worthy sequel and you'd have to be retarded to dismiss it the way he does (an observation I remember making about him after seeing his review of Demon's Souls).
Ranting can be fun, but when you're doing it from a so called "intellectual" point of view there's kind of no point to it when you wouldn't be able to recognize quality if it crawled up your ass.

The Worst Boxer Ever

Priceless. I could watch people with mullets getting savagely beaten for days, and not get tired of it. Just plain awesome.

And good sportsmanship from Rainford. He had a good 3 or 4 seconds to throw a few more punches after landing the Knock-out blow, but wisely thought better of it. The delayed KO reaction really makes this vid an instant classic.

Baldur's Gate II - Shadows of Amn Intro

SDGundamX says...

One of the best CRPG's ever made, IMHO. Planescape, Icewind Dale... fantastic. They don't make CRPG's these days like they used to, unfortunately.

My one complaint about BG2... Yoshimo! Yoshimo was just plain awesome and had the best random comments next to Minsc.

"Hiiiii-ya! Tourists love that stuff."

And then he gets perma-killed half-way through the game which seriously gimps your party since he was the only decent thief NPC available. I remember how pissed I was the first time through the game since basically I was tripping every trap and having to leave locked chests behind since Imoen and Nalia were such piss-poor substitutes. The second time through I purposely rolled a thief just to make sure I got all the loot in the game.

Seriously, the game allows you to return your vampire-cursed girlfriend (who you wind up having to destroy) back from the dead but not some poor thief who got insta-gibbed? What's up with that?

No worries Raven, if you didn't do it somebody else would have, actually I am glad you caught it when it did or maybe a bigger fuss would have been made. I am used to submitting full length docs so I don't really think about the whole copyright issue..since full docs usually stay online, but Animal farm will probably be pulled within days anyway.

I totally know what you mean and I sympathize, sometimes while trolling through Google I'll stumble across a film that I love or is totally important to a point I'm trying to make, or, as was often the case with the HorrorShow, I just thought was plain awesome... So I felt kind of bad discarding your sift, but sadly, rules are rules and copyrights are a bitch... as for that version of Animal Farm, I think it was made for TV several years back, perhaps as a miniseries, I vaguely remember watching it, but not in a theater.

Thanks Raven, you're right...sometimes I just get excited, I had actually never heard of the adaptation before today... I always thought it was just turned into a cartoon.

Hate to be a narc... but full length films that aren't public domain are against posting guidelines... sorry Fed, I know its a great novel, and a commentary pertinent to the times we live in, but... guidelines.
