All I need is my flying/submersible tank and and a parachute and I'm straight.

Wing-suiters aren't messing around, it takes some fit musculature and control, and definite body-mind-type reflexes under free fall conditions already plugged-in through a lot of parachute work. These guys are fit and professional that do the wing suits, I dare say if the novice strapped one on and jumped-off a cliff they'd drop like a rock without the kind of above experience mentioned.

I suggest getting to know your local airport and start a new hobby-Jumping from planes every weekend for a year or two, maybe join a chute club-Research the craft and travel to an event once the love of free-fall is all up in yer brain. You may soon claim your new drug of choice adrenaline!

Not really "insane". He HAS a parachute.

Looks like his chute opened backwards. I don't know anything about parachutes, but does that mean he packed it wrong?

Calling BS on the title...the parachute didn't fail, he hit the wall. He didn't "fall" 1000 ft, the parachute worked fine until it twisted, and still slowed the fall after it was twisted. After pulling the chute, he was never in freefall.

Not exactly a parachute failure, more of a parachutist failure in a sticky situation... he's fortunate it wasn't worse. He says he hit the ground

with enough force to 1. make an 8 inch divot in the ground with my feet, (which hit first) 2. Make a 3 inch divot with my arse (which hit second) and 3. knock my camera helmet off my head and smash my Cx12 off it's flatlock mount, tearing the guts out of the camera. I bounced up about 6 feet and forward about 10 feet and ended up on my chest (cracking my sternum and breaking 3 ribs).

I wonder why this is necessary. It seems all the planets we want to land on-and can land on b/c they're not made of gas or are on fire-have at least a little bit of atmosphere. It makes more sense to use parachutes and giant electric ducted fans or even heli rotors to land. Stop with the rocket fuel. And launch from the edge of space if possible.

I'm not sure what I just watched . . . People flying in the air behind cars? Parachutes galore? WTF Mate??? lol And damn, windows only.

Why would doing a cool sport be scary? Like parachute scary? There's no danger to her that I can see.
