Cluster munition used on Stepanakert, Republic of Artsakh

StukaFox says...

"Some damned fool thing in the Balkans."

Armenia, currently on the losing side of this idiotic pissing contest, is trying to negotiate a truce. Azerbaijan has absolutely NO reason to stop, however. Turkey's getting involved, Russia's trying to figure out how to work this to their advantage and Israel is trying to sell more arms after this current "download the demo" of their export munitions.

How the fuck Artsakh ended up in the middle of all this (not speaking geographically, obviously, as it is EXACTLY in the middle of all this) is somewhat beyond me.

WHAT IN THE FUCK IS A "POLICE JURY"?

The police jury is the governing authority for each parish that operates under the police jury system provided by the general laws of the state.

The police jury is both a legislative and administrative body. Its legislative and administrative functions include enacting ordinances and resolutions, establishing programs and setting policy. As an administrative body, it prepares the budget, hires personnel, spends money, negotiates contracts and, in general, directs the activities under its supervision.

Police juries carry out their administrative responsibilities in various ways. Some parishes, for example, have made their secretaries responsible for over-all administration. In others, this responsibility has been delegated to the police jury president, who is selected from among the jurors. Some parishes have hired a parish manager as permited by LRS 33:1236.1. The law sets no qualifications for the position other than being a registered voter of the parish. Act 85 of 2006 repealed the provision that allowed a police juror to serve as the parish manager, but did allow for a police juror already serving as a parish manager to continue doing so. In still other parishes, there is no principlal administrative official, and all parish employees report directly to the entire jury or to committees.

How it Starts

newtboy says...

Really? I remember you being on the side of the Bundys both times they became an armed group of anarchist criminals running amok, and calling Obama a criminal thug for trying to stop them.
So it's not the criminality, not running amok, not armed takeovers of public areas and expulsion of police, it's only the Democrat part of your label you have a problem with.
Since he didn't use that word, and you answered you would have been delighted, you're a liar. You weren't delighted when he did it.

You gladly cheer for Trump sending in Federal officers to attack Democrats based on blatantly false, thoroughly debunked right wing propaganda, and cry and whine when they're used to restore law and order from violent armed anarchists by Obama after months of negotiations because those armed criminal anarchists running amok were Republicans.

Then again He did nothing for the black community. or criminal reform.

Not strictly, as I pointed out in multiple ways.
Do you contradict anything I said, or are you switching to a constitutional interpretation discussion to avoid it?

If they don't, he vetos, back to square one. It's happened, but it's rightly seen as a total lack of governance and dereliction of duty by congress to not negotiate and pass a budget that will be signed, so become law. Not sure that's possible anymore, the negotiating with the president part I mean.

They can, if 2/3 of them are willing to push it through twice.....good luck with that anymore.

We were discussing veto, and overriding vetoes.

Not the timeline I recall, but I'm not willing to dispute it.
Did you note how often the Obama administration complained that investigations into Burisma and it's founder were dropped, they never tried to stop an investigation. Did you note Biden wanted Shoken out because he shelved investigations into Burisma and Mykola Zlochevskiy ? Did you note that the UK found nothing illegal when they investigated?

Did you note that Hunter was hired before the investigations (by corrupt Russian prosecutors, btw) mentioned in the article had started, so couldn't have been hired to get them stopped? Impossible according to that timeline.
Did you note there was never any hint that he tried to stop any investigation?
At the time he was hired, there was no investigation to stop....and if he was hired to get American help with future investigations that backfired badly because we went after investigators that DIDN'T investigate or dropped cases, not ones that made cases or investigated thoroughly.

Most importantly, did you notice that there was NEVER any investigation into HUNTER for Biden to try and stop, as is the claim. None at all. Nada.

scheherazade said:

The constitution puts purse authority strictly in the hands of congress. Congress can pass any budget it pleases.
Reviewing any budget submitted by the president is a courtesy, not a requirement.

Actually, congress can pass laws that require (or forbid) the president to do things.

I am not discussing veto. I only mention it as one of the few presidential powers - and that I'm glad he has it, as it means less laws on average.

edit, According to this timeline, Hunter was working there since April 2014, in time for all the investigations.

Why The Right Wing End Game Is Armageddon

shinyblurry says...

The bible was written almost exclusively by Jews, both the Old and New Testament. Jesus was a Jew and so were most of His apostles. The events of the majority of the books in the bible happened in Israel. Christianity is a Jewish religion. So, it shouldn't really surprise anyone that the bible has a lot to say about the Jews. Where they came from, how they got there, and what happens to them in the future.

Christian support for the Jews is a relatively new phenomenon. During the reign of the Catholic church, Jews were persecuted by Catholics and forced to convert to Christianity. The Jewishness of Jesus was lost to history; this is why you see much of the art during the middle ages depicting the Lord as a European man.

What changed is that the Jews returned to the land of Israel in 1948, something that many scholars of time past assumed was impossible. The general teaching was that God had broken His covenant with the Jewish people because they rejected Christ and that the church was now the new Israel. This is called replacement theology.

Yet, the Jews did return to their own land, a unique event in all of history. Never before had a people group been displaced from their own country, scattered all over the world for thousands of years, and then regathered to their original land with their cultural and genetic purity intact. This is a true miracle which anyone can plainly see is evidence of the hand of God working in the Earth on behalf of His chosen people.

The video makes it seem like the idea of Israel being integral to end times prophecy is some kind of leap, yet anyone who has studied the bible seriously knows that nearly everything predicted about the end times revolves around Israel, and particularly Jerusalem. There are numerous prophecies in the Old Testament stating plainly that God will scatter His people and gather them back to Israel in the last days.

The scripture predicts that the Jews will build a third temple. At this moment the Dome of the Rock, the golden domed building you see in photographs of Jerusalem, stands in the place where the third temple must be built. You could sum up the entire tension in the middle east in two words: "Temple Mount".

Not only are the Jews ready to rebuild their temple in a moments notice, they have created all of the implements of the temple and have been training priests to serve in the temple. The scripture declares that for end times prophecy to be fulfilled there must be a third temple. I can confidently predict that this will happen sometime in the future and the Dome of the Rock most likely be destroyed.

I also wanted to mention one other thing. The name "Palestine" was given to the area by the Romans. The Palestinians are not a people group, they are Arabs who settled in the area after the Jews were dispersed around the world. The video really does you a disservice by neglecting to mention the fact that it was the Arab nations that attacked Israel unprovoked on multiple occasions and the Jews against all odds defeated them. It was their right to take that territory and they are under no obligation to return it.

In the end, there will be much more conflict in the middle east, all revolving around the Jews and Jerusalem in some way. You may doubt the scripture but you will see this unfold with your very eyes. One day a charismatic man will come on the scene who will negotiate a peace in the middle east between the Jews and the nations of the world. He will seem at first to be someone who can solve all of our problems but eventually he will establish a one world order and rule the world with an iron fist. He will go into the Jewish temple and declare himself to be God. This is who the bible calls the Antichrist.

So, if you want to know where we are at in the end times, watch Israel and Jerusalem. Jerusalem is Gods prophetic time clock. When you see the Dome of the Rock being replaced by the temple, know the Lord is near, even at the doors.

Trump Turns Our Military Into Mercenaries

newtboy says...

Do you really not understand the difference between making allies pay for some of the protection we provide in the interest of the United State's national security and renting the military for cash to murderous and terroristic regimes?

Also, Obama did do this, making allies pay for our protection, successfully, just as his predecessors did with 5 year plans going back at least to the 80's. Trump has been incapable of negotiating and simply demanded a 400% increase this year so there is no payment agreement right now. *facepalm

bobknight33 said:

Bunch of hypocrites.

Trump Turns Our Military Into Mercenaries

newtboy says...

No. Do you think Obama was the one starting payment agreements 30+ years ago? I think that would be Bush or Regan. Obama didn't end the practice of negotiating payments for military support, but he certainly didn't start it.

What we've done in Korea and Japan (and elsewhere) after fighting wars on their shores has no resemblance to how Trump is renting our military to Saudi Arabia.

What I'm saying is Trump has bastardized our process of asking allies to help fund our military actions in their countries that also benefit them into a process of asking non-allies (including the country who spawned and funded the worst terrorist attack on the U.S. and viciously murdered an American citizen recently, edit: and committed a terrorist attack in Florida this month, with 21 more Saudis being deported from the same military training program he was in for not only posting jihadist anti American material but also child porn not caught by the current vetting process) if they want to rent our military for their military actions, actions that don't align with our foreign policy and make us new enemies. FAUX won't touch that story.

visionep said:

So you are saying that Obama is the one who turned our military into mercenaries?

I bet you could get FOX news to run with that story.

Trump Turns Our Military Into Mercenaries

newtboy says...

I think he believes he gets to keep that blood money from Saudi Arabia.

As for his South Korea claim....there is no agreement for them to pay a dime next year, because Trump could only negotiate a 1 year extension to the 5 year payment plan Obama negotiated. Contrary to Trump's ignorant lies, for >3 decades the cost sharing agreement has been negotiated on a 5 year basis with S. Korea paying the U.S. yearly, but Trump has been incapable of negotiating and today there's no payment agreement at all. Only 4% of South Koreans support paying what Trump's demanding, making his current near $5 billion demand (a 400%+ increase from last year) a clear deal killer....which might end our cooperative agreement with another ally.
Japan's cost sharing agreement is up for renegotiation next year, expect the same level of absolute failure in those negotiations and the loss of another ally and the loss of more US influence in the Pacific.

*promote exposing the ridiculously easily debunked lies being used to hide the total failure to negotiate successfully.

US China Trade War This is a War of Values Curtis Ellis

newtboy says...

Oops.
Ok @bobknight33, time for you to gloat. I was totally wrong about it costing us $50 billion per year....

....but I was dead on with the $87.5 billion per year figure according to the federal reserve's report....not including the tens of billions of taxpayer's money handed out to factory farms in Trump's enormous (bigger than Obama's) socialist handout program (but not to smaller privately owned farms who lost more). It also doesn't count the thousands of good jobs, factories, and farms permanently lost.
For all that money we still have no trade agreements and are in a worse position to negotiate one than when he started. No country trusts Trump's administration to fulfill it's obligations, so most negotiations are grinding to a halt.
All told, it's costing the U.S. well over $100 billion per year for just this one facet of Trump's total failures at negotiation and his utter ignorance of international trade and finance.

Winning!?! Only if you're Russia or Iran.

newtboy said:

Really?! A Trump apologist wants to ask if CHINA can be trusted to keep an agreement?! *facepalm It's like they're too starstruck by exalted leader to admit Trump is famously unconcerned with meeting his contractual (or civil, or moral, ethical, even familial) obligations.

Make no mistakes, this is a $50 BILLION per year tax increase, mostly on manufacturers, with a threat of $87.5 BILLION more coming soon. China doesn't pay a dime of that.

They're still planning the G7 for Trump's club during it's off season (filling the otherwise empty rooms).
Just gonna leave this here for @bobknight33 before he tries to defend and excuse yet another blatant violation of the constitution....

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

Emolument: a salary, fee, or profit from employment or office.

Any fee of any kind whatever....so no, claiming he's renting the resort "at cost" means nothing....less than nothing when you understand that he claims his subcontractors can make any profit they wish as long as the property doesn't profit, and he uses Trump subcontractors that can set their own price with no negotiations. That's exactly how he bankrupted his casinos.

The Amazon isn't "Burning" - It's Being Burned

diego says...

good video but a rather important thing he missed is, that many governments DO pay brasil to maintain the rainforest-

"Norway has followed Germany in suspending donations to the Brazilian government’s Amazon Fund after a surge in deforestation in the South American rainforest. The move has triggered a caustic attack from the country’s rightwing president.

Bolsonaro rejects 'Captain Chainsaw' label as data shows deforestation 'exploded'
Jair Bolsonaro, whose move to meddle in the environmental organisation’s governance led to Norway’s decision, reacted by suggesting that Europe was not in a position to lecture his administration.

“Isn’t Norway that country that kills whales up there in the north pole?”, the Brazilian president said. “Take that money and help Angela Merkel reforest Germany.”

After weeks of tense negotiations with Norway and Germany, the Bolsonaro government unilaterally closed the Amazon Fund’s steering committee on Thursday. The fund has been central to international efforts to curb deforestation although its impact is contested.

Brazil’s environment minister, Ricardo Salles, said the Amazon Fund had been suspended while its rules were under discussion.

In response, Ola Elvestuen, his Norwegian counterpart, said an expected payment of about $33.27m (£27.36m) would not take place as Brazil had, in effect, broken the terms of its deal. Norway has been the fund’s biggest donor, and has given about $1.2bn (£985m) over the past decade.

“He cannot do that without Norway and Germany’s agreement,” Elvestuen said. “What Brazil has shown is that it no longer wants to stop deforestation.”

This week Berlin had said it would withhold an expected payment of about $39m. Norway and Germany questioned an initial proposal from the Brazilian government for the fund’s steering committee to be reduced in size, and had warned against any weakening of the structures of the fund.

Grave concerns about the rate of deforestation since Bolsonaro took power have been repeatedly voiced by the Norwegian government and others.

According to Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research, the government agency that monitors deforestation, the rate increased by 278% in the year to July, resulting in the destruction of about 870 square miles."

while I do agree that for 3rd world ex colonies it is extremely tiresome to hear lectures about ecology from the US and Europe, who tore up the planet to achieve their status and continue to consume far more than 3rd world people do, Bolsonaro is dead wrong here and sadly it has to be said this is what the democracy and capitalism produce: shortsighted win-now, defer the costs decisions.

Counting Trump's False Claims Using Gumballs

newtboy says...

No Bob. That is simply not factual....except the anti Trump leaning part, but facts are anti Trump, just as Trump is anti fact.

The Obama line is also not a bit factual. Not by a factor of 1000. Obama didn't get everything right, for certain, but I'm not sure he ever outright knowingly lied to the public, which Trump does 4 times before getting out of bed daily. Need I remind you Trump founded the birther bullshit that was a total racist lie and strung you rubes along with promised mind blowing announcements that never came...need I remind you of fraudulent now defunct Trump University, or the fraudulent now defunct Trump charity? How many Obama organizations have been shuttered for fraud, or gone bankrupt from outrageous, even criminal mismanagement?

Yes, Tim Apple was nothing, until baby Trump couldn't let a nothing mistake go and fell over himself making up dumb lie after dumb lie to try to deny it...HE made it something, not CNN, not MSN....lil ole DJT all by his lonesome.

My what is no better?....it's no better that all the rest do what? WHAT?!

Bob, he admitted collusion with the secret Trump tower negotiations. It doesn't have to be illegal, only secret, which that was...he's not being charged with collusion, ok? Happy? We've been over that, you need to do your homework, you're failing class and you're going to have to take summer school again.

And to be clear, like Nixon, it's the cover-up, not the crimes committed on his behalf that's coming to bite him....but also to be clear, this is a much bigger malfeasance than not clarifying "what "is" is" to a hostile lawyer. Trump sent his lawyer to lie to congress about Trump's business, which he did, and knowing that he had lied, Trump did not correct the record, indeed he worked hard to further the lies and hide them.

I know you believe that, but you believe Trump who (ghost) wrote a book about lying to rubes get what you want, so your reasoning skills are in serious question. I'll just say I hope you are wrong, but if you are right and most Americans vote for him, he's the president we deserve.

Near 100 Captive Orcas & Belugas at Risk of Freezing Drownin

Mordhaus says...

Sadly, I am sure it is for much the same reason Japan gave up on faking scientific reasons for whale kills and just basically gave the international community the middle finger.

That reason is that we quit trying to force/persuade/negotiate other countries into doing what is right and no other country (or group of countries) cares to take our place, or they haven't figured out how to do it.

I'm sure the EU/UN/some other nations are frothing about it, but they'll never DO anything so who cares?

Trump Is Losing the Shutdown Fight: A Closer Look

RFlagg says...

I don't get how Trump and the GOP say the Democrats need to be willing to negotiate. They are offering $1.6 Billion in additional funding. But Trump is acting like Veruca Salt, and stomping his feet, saying he wants $5.7 Billion, and he wants it now. That's not how negotiations work. You want $5.7, they offer $1.6, you come down to say $4.6, they come back at $2.3, you come back with $4 and permanent residence status for Dreamers, they come back with $3 and permanent resident status, then you meet at $3.5 and permanent resident status. You don't just keep acting like a child throwing a temper tantrum and demanding the $5.7, and if you don't get it, the other side is the one's being unreasonable.

The "Pro-life" party, that loves the death penalty and war, so not really pro-life at all, is now holding millions of Americans (800k, plus their families, plus the millions of people who depend on those services) hostage in an act of economic terrorism, until the other side fully caves into their demands. They are the ones not willing to negotiate, but are doing some 1984 level doublespeak, and blaming it all on the Democrats. And the Fox News types are eating it up, which is probably why Trump thinks he's winning. "Just look. Steve says I'm doing good and that all real Americans support me."

They need to pass a law, that Congress, their aids and staff, the President, their aids and staff, the White House aids and staff... all don't get paid on any shutdown. If they've already given up their salary (I love how Trump followers commend Trump for giving up his salary, while ignoring he makes more a year off the Secret Service than he would in years of salary) then they have to reimburse that salary they would have made in that time. Congress and the President may not take back pay, and it takes a 60% vote to authorize the aids and staff back pay, but only if all other Federal workers also get their back pay first in a separate and prior authorization.
