Can I Get a Fish Sandwich?

Sagemind says...

Is this real, or just a viral video produced by McDonalds?
The big McDonald's sign in the back seat makes me suspect...

Edit: And why is his beard dyed orange?

Well, there surely is a built in clientele insuring this to be mutually profitable, right? ... take THAT McDonalds! I can see pizza delivery in the future [special toppings and/or crust on request. And the special house salad dressing is out of this world]

the myth of choice:how junk food marketers target kids

Shepppard says...

Alright, I'm by no means against kids eating healthy, but this is a truly dumb and hypocritical way of going about it.

How the hell is food designed to be addictive? Welp, mostly by making it actually delicious. Fast food doesn't control the market on that, mostly anything that tastes good can be considered "addictive".

Then we go into a graph that seemingly gets larger and larger, implying that these diseases are HUGELY on the rise (which for all I know, they could be. But there's no actual evidence, just a rising graph that turns into a heart rate monitor.)

Infact, just perusing their website they have a whole whack of bogeymen arguments and excuses with nothing that really backs them up. Two parts stand out, One, they want to take action against the CEO of mcdonalds by telling him to take down a website about happy meals. The site has a bunch of stupid videos, games, and even a couple educational things about recycling and animals... very little to do with actually pushing the food on kids.

The second part was about something also somewhat touched on in the video: Food companies say that it's the parents responsibility to determine what their kids eat. Is it really up to the parents?

The answer for them is basically a long winded ":Yes, but because businesses decide to use marketing targeted at our kids, they made it REALLY hard, and therefore, technically, no."

Look, end of the day, parents are responsible for their kids. It doesn't matter HOW much advertising goes into the kids, when you determine what their breakfast will be (by buying it at a store, i.e. cereal), what their lunch will be, and then cooking them dinner, you 100% are responsible for what your kids eat.

The alternative is saying "Here's 10 bucks, get yourself something at school" which is ALSO determining what your kids eat. Kids are weak, given the option they WILL go for the fries with gravy for lunch.

Both versions determine what your kid is going to eat, and both are decided upon by YOU. Stop blaming corporations for doing what corporations do, and just take responsibility.

How The McRib Is Made

LiquidDrift says...

Oh man I used to love Grant on Mythbusters. So disappointing to see him shill for McDonalds. I don't believe that the meat going into the mcrib is as high quality as what was shown here. If it was that high quality, why grind it to a disgusting pulp and shape? Preserves better? They could use shitty meat and get the same shape, so I'm assuming that's what they do.

I recognize this branch. It's oddly very white.
All the non-whites seem go to McDonalds across the street.
My guess is this guy is homeless and though he would be gifted a free meal from Jeebus for being white and homeless. In n Out has been accused for being, shall we say, a white preferential hirer. I mean seriously, look at the people slowly moving out of the way, notice something ?

I'm starting to see a pattern of pissed off religious Americans.
This guy looks identical to this other christian gay bashing loser.

Jon Stewart Goes After NFL over Ray Rice

jimnms says...

I'm with you on this one. I haven't been following it either. My whole take on this is, why does it fall on his employer to punish him and why isn't he in jail? I can understand his team and sponsors ditching him not wanting to be associated with a wife beater, but if it was just some burger flipper at McDonald's that nobody knew, would anyone be pressuring McDonald's to fire or suspend an employee for doing the same?

On Holiday In America: Day One

MilkmanDan says...

As an American who has been living in not the USA for about 9 years now, here's a thought:

Compare the attitude of these guys with the attitude of your average American visiting anywhere else. This chipper dude's been up since 3:30 chatting up the locals and draping himself in the local flag. Average American abroad is probably busy asking where the nearest McDonalds or Starbucks is, and complaining about how they can't get any help from someone who speaks English (even if they are in, say, London)...

/I'd tag with sarcasm, but I'm only halfway there.

Walmart Ice Cream Sandwiches Don't Melt

AeroMechanical says...

McDonald's milkshakes (er, I think officially just "shakes"), don't melt either. They just kind of dry up and solidify.

Astronaut ice cream doesn't melt either. I used to love that stuff when I was a kid, but I haven't seen it anywhere for a while. Probably the same stuff. So the moral is that it's probably NASA that invented that ice cream sandwich. How many food products can you buy that required a hundred million dollar engineering budget and won the Cold War?

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Prison (HBO)

Lawdeedaw says...

Not to speculate, but the bitch who mentions the sugar seems like a lawsuit chaser. Or at least vindictive and ready to lie. Like finding a finger in a McDonald's burger...oh wait that belonged to the people trying to sue McDonald's. The hard part is that the prison can't defend itself if this isn't true. People won't believe them anyways.

John Oliver sure as hell didn't need any proof to suck her tits. (And abdominal wounds do tend to ooze...just saying...)

In fact his blatant discrimination shows itself when he attacks the guy who made a joke--yeah the joke was tasteless, but it was made to emphasis a point, which it absolutely did. Did John make note of the valid point? That inmates sometimes lie? Fuck no. Did the other guy take a more balanced position, even admitting that some inmates claims are true? Yeah.

Thanks for the intro. Let me know when you contribute some "intelligent banter". All I see is belligerent narcissistic bullshit from an insecure little boy. (if you don't watch television, how do you know what the McDonald's jingle is? Someone's fibbing again... you silly boy).

This site gives license to all-comers to speak their mind, offer intelligent banter on a variety of subjects, and oh....there's a special car on this train for folks like yourself to masturbate publicly in between the rabble and bar cars...

@hamsteralliance-Sound, sane, and sobering truth in yours, one of the only reasonable comments in this thread. Agree whole-heartedly.
