I will always remember this song as the hold music on the Simpsons when Homer loses Maggie & calls the missing children hotline.

One of the best running gags on that show was the ironic hold music.

They didn't show the part where Maggie fired the parrot from its government job, started a nationalistic war to get it to vote for her and lectured it for not showing true Victorian values.

And she also didn't mention that the avant-garde comedy she is referencing would never be allowed in her status-quo dream society. Funny that.

My parents burnt an effigy of Maggie Thatcher way back.

It's good to see that her time at Ayn Rand's School for Tots didn't go to waste. That's right, Maggie. A is A.

It's definitely based on Penny's farm. However, that song is a pretty basic depression era song. Dylan's lyrics are more of a declaration of independence from his former musical ideals and the people who saw this as "pure" music. So it's pretty cool that he performed that song the first time he ever played electric on a stage, and at the Newport Folk festival no less.

The only reason I believe dylan stole the song is because the lyrics imply the same metaphor and values. The original is a little better. Not trying to troll, just saying, check out the original.
