I don't agree with Chomster's smugness completely, I think that theory & leftfield (pseudo) "intellectualism" needs to have a niche that is entertaining, of which Zizek surely fills the void of. But, Chomsky, is a stick to the facts sort, which is why I find Chomsky to be so important. We can't refute the facts and Chomsky is a great analyst of history.

What is it that Zizek exactly does? He is influential for being a sort of thinking man's political comedian, a jester to a degree; I think that is, in and of itself important (even inspirational) but I can see Chomsky's critical perspective in seeing it as just a bunch of posturing (jester prancing in a circle; ouroboros) that gets nothing done.

What does Chomsky say about Zizek?

Henry Rollins vs. Techno Viking

Ah, Rollins is just displaying his ignorance. For every terrible run-of-the-mill dance track or mindless slab of Eurodisco, there's something amazing by Orbital, Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Lemon Jelly, Portishead, Basement Jaxx, Leftfield...

How could you forget Royksopp? You make me a sad panda.

those are actual bands...they play instruments..trip hop is amazing.
again,as i stated..i like techno, but i do not agree that having the ability to use reson or acid pro should be a validation of supremacy over actual musicianship.
talented?creative? of course.
more relevant than actual musicians? never.
the bands you posted are just that...bands.
oh..and i am in LOVE with beth gibbons!!!!

Even Pat Buchanan makes sense debating the Gaza-massacre!

Wipeout 64 / Pulse / Pure / XL / 2097 / HD / Fusion

Farhad2000 says...

Wipeout has been one of my favorite games since it's release on the PC, it was the first I remember playing that would really convey the feeling of actually racing at preposterous speeds.

The interesting thing is that the original developers actually hired professional designers to come up with the distinctive look and feel of the futuristic world, especially in the logos and various billboards around the race tracks. Some of which you can see in the video above.

The soundtrack was perfect as well featuring throughout the series artists like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Leftfield and Cold Storage. Electronic techno beats that leaded themselves perfectly to the anti-gravity racing.

I have nothing passive agressive to take out on any Sifter - I've been busy in my real life, and come back to the Sift to find you pulling crap like this. And I'll say it again: editing your description like that is the shittiest thing I've seen you do on here - there's no excuse for it.

In reply to your comment:
It wasn't meant to be rude, that video is my favorite of all time I wanted it to be in my collective. Am sorry if you misconstrued it as such but it wasn't meant that way. The same situation raised with other sifters and I never had such a response from them.

I discarded the Leftfield sift because it did make us both look bad so I took it down?

My collective is not elitist, ask anyone who asked for an invitation.

Have you tried to converse or PM me normally? No, you always get passive aggressive with stupid silly crap like this online, like you have some crap from your daily life that you need to take out on people. So I don't appreciate that.

It's a video, an extremely rude discard and an insultative, blatant editing of a description to cover your tracks plus make my comment look random/agressive. It's the latter that I find truly disappointing; the other two are minor, but your elitist 'Obscure' attitude makes me feel like treating you the same.

Look I don't care okay? I honestly don't. Excommunicate me whatever. It's a video mate.

A 'personal thing'? If anything, it's your blatant editing that's to blame for any tarnishing of that Sift - and also the reason you pulled it. Honestly Farhad, after you posting this, discarding your Sift I saved, and doing the shit on this Leftfield vid - I'm struggling for a reason not to excommunicate you.

Leftfield - Release The Pressure

Farhad2000 says...

Someone please tell me why this pumping ass version never made it to the album? The album version is shit compared to this! This is my favourite Leftfield song

Leftfield were a duo of electronica artists and record producers, Paul Daley (formerly of A Man Called Adam and the Brand New Heavies) and Neil Barnes, formed in 1989 in London, England. The name Leftfield was originally used simply by Neil Barnes for the first single Not Forgotten but after this Paul Daley was involved firstly in remixing songs and then in the creation of following music[1]. The pair were pioneers in the fields of intelligent dance music and progressive house, being the first to fuse house music with dub and reggae [Release the Pressure (1995)]. They furthermore were among the first electronic musicians to incorporate live guest vocalists, along with The Chemical Brothers and Underworld. Ultimately the duo have been influential on the electronic genre as a whole, with The Crystal Method's Scott Kirkland referring to them in 2005 as "The best Electronic band period."

Their downtempo music style has inspired a genre which has been recognised as simply leftfield, with several charts appearing in magazines such as DJ magazine and Mixmag. The genre is also known as "Chillout".
