This movie was basically Left 4 Dead the movie. Thus, it was great!

This game was a disaster. What a waste of $60. Stupid story, no genuine terror aside from jump scares, sluggish controls, poor collision detection, terrible facial animation, linear, lacking in variety, lacking in bosses... The formula of the game is 1) enter a room 2) fight off 3-5 waves of enemies 3) wait 10 seconds for the door to the next room to open 4) yawn 5) repeat.

Unlike Yahtzee, I really dug DS1. It was scary because you were alone and underpowered. In this game, you are Rambo and there are NPC's everywhere. In the first game, the sound design gave you subtle distant growls to let you know monsters may strike at any moment. In this game, a bombastic soundtrack beats you over the head any time a monster is about to strike. I actually played a good portion of the game without sound, listening to my ipod. In the first game, you are this Gordon Freeman style silent, solitary figure who only reveals his face at the end. In this one, your annoying character talks and shows his poorly animated face constantly.

The multiplayer is also a mess. It's a hackneyed, poorly thought out rip off of Left 4 Dead. (Valve really should make a Left 4 Dead in space game) Not only is the multiplayer horrible, but you need an EA license to play it, which means that whoever buys my used copy is going to have to pony up even more money to EA. Fuckers.

What a bloody disappointment...

Combine using G36s instead of MP7s? I'll buy that that was all you could get your hands on.

Left 4 Dead style zombies instead of the proper Ravenholm Head-Crab zombies? Annoying, but I guess the CG or costumes would have been pretty hard to pull off.

Fucking Ninja Combine with a sword? GTFO! I nearly hit stop there. What a disgrace.

There was no dialogue, no story, just some random chase and action scenes cobbled together with a really wasted ending. I'm with Xax, focus on story and believability not the action and effects! These guys nearly put Uwe Boll to shame.

Really makes me wish I could downvote.

Slow zombies, absolutely no help with fast zombies. Which in Left 4 dead they all are!

The other side says Obama and the Democrats sold us out, that they're co-conspirators with the corporate Republican party, and it's time for us to make our voices heard...by trashing Obama and Democrats as much as possible.
I'm mostly sympathetic with the first group (mockingly referred to as "Obots"), while I'm mostly disgusted with the second (mockingly referred to as "firebaggers").
That said, I do think that while most of our problems can be chalked up to filibuster rules and conservadems, I think progressives as a whole have to reexamine how they practice politics. Instead, they spend an inordinate amount of time trying to couch progressive ideas in conservative frames. For example, Democrats talk a lot about how health care is going to fix the long-term budget, but not so much about how it will help people who were being left for dead by the old system.

I believe that the way to practice politics is to be as objective as you can muster. Here's my stab:

You're spot on about the health care bill argument. The real conservative vs. progressive discussion would have focused on our privatized system vs. single-payer health care. Re: the political direction however I would say the following:

Quite a few people who think the Democrats sold the majority of American people out to the corporations don't fault the Obama administration or the Democrats specifically for anything. While there can be a some well-intentioned people in any given political system, the majority are spineless rubber stamps for corporate money. This majority is spread nearly identically on a per capita basis across all current representative parties. This effect impacts the entire spectrum, stifling the overall voice from the depths of poverty all the way to up the middle class.


Only without this influence can the people's voices be freed. To your final point, I think this is the only thing that would allow for the left to actually stand up for populist ideals.

... on top of that it would be nice to see any party represent legitimate, non-corporate welfare business ideals as well.
