CryEngine SDK 3.4: Seriously pretty graphics!

Fletch says...

>> ^JiggaJonson:

The fact that they can render CGI this beautiful in real time makes me want to throw up when I think about all of the generic/cartoony CGI movies out there.
I know we've come a long way, but even shudder Star Wars has fallen victim to horrid CGI. Give me a puppet any day over something that looks like a cartoon.

TPM was released in 1999, a LONG time ago in CGI development. Less-advanced CGI doesn't bother me as much as its overuse (think Michael Bay) and using it for its own sake on crap like a Jar Jar Binks.

EDIT: And btw, this is a real-time video game engine. There isn't a single scene in this video that wouldn't like like absolute crap edited into a movie with real actors/locations in it.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (Preview Trailer)

gwiz665 says...

Because Pandas are pandas, not some fantasy creature. It was all well and good when it was just a little off-shoot in Warcraft 3, and hell, they could even have an homage in WoW, whatever, it's all good. But to put it so front and center, makes the whole thing silly to me. At least Draenei were something entirely different.

I seem to be having the complete opposite reaction than you - I can't understand how people can take it seriously.

I will give the expansion this, though, mechanics-wise it looks to be a big improvement.

In what way is this sillier, or more out of character for WoW, than space goats?
>> ^gwiz665:
I like wow in general. I played the damn thi, ng for 2500+ hours, but while they have had many silly elements mixed in with their more "high fantasy", this puts the silly front and c, enter.
I think this is way sillier than anything they've done before, partly because it's so "centered" in view. Have small references and general sillyness in the outskirts of the game is just fine, but dammit, wow was a perfectly good game, but now it's gone silly!

You people are all nuts. Maybe it's my general interest in Asian culture speaking, but this looks pretty awesome to me. I honestly do not get why everyone is reacting like this is the worst thing since Jar Jar Binks. Someone seriously needs to explain that to me. What looks so bad about this?

Since you asked...
Since launch, WoW has been a remarkably shallow game. It's success is attributable to oooh, shiny!, furry culture and, most importantly, people's tendencies to gambling addiction. The WoW team is kinda infamous for not coming up with any new or interesting ideas.
So when they suddenly whip out a new expansion that's based on an April fools prank by one of their artists from 6 or so years ago, yeah, it seems especially cheap. No matter... the furries will gobble this up and the money will continue to roll in.

Well sure, I mean, I can understand why some people dislike WoW in general. And of course those people aren't going to like this, because ultimately it's more of the same.
What I'm asking is why people who are actually fans of WoW are reacting so vehemently to this.

Shia LaBoeuf gets DROPPED in Vancouver CA

Fletch says...

>> ^Tingles:

Tbh if I ever saw/met this guy in Van, I would punch him as hard as I could in the face for every spoken line he had in Indy IV. I don't apologize if that makes me seem like a bad person. He voluntarily helped ruin and rape Indiana Jones.
Keep this man (Tingles) away from Jar Jar Binks, Scrappy Doo, The Great Gazoo, Wesly Crusher, and every orphaned kid added to a sit-com family in it's final year.

Jar Jar's New voice for Star wars blu Ray- Better or worse?

djsunkid says...

I think Jar Jar would be better if they replaced his voice with an alien language. You'd need an extra line of dialogue where obi wan mentions that he can understand it because it's similar to the language x aliens speak or whatever.

Similarly, the ewoks could potentially be made much better with some clever edited and subtitles. Turn them from teddy bears into a warrior race, kind of a na'avi thing or whatever, maybe without the hippy part.

Daffy Duck is a Lazy Metal Wizard

mas8705 says...

The video only gets an upvote for being an interesting music video... Outside of that though, I hate this show with a passion for being completely stupid and sometimes offensive...

I mean, Daffy in the old cartoons was either so crazy, he can outwit anyone, or he was so clever, he can make anyone do anything he wants (of course, when bugs is involved, Daffy gets knocked down one or two notches...) Now imagine that Daffy stayed in that "Outwited" status for every single episode...

He makes Jar Jar look like Samuel L Jackson! Daffy is so incredibly stupid you wonder why even he exists (One episode dedeciated to him not getting his newpaper and he spends the whole episode accusing his neighbors and at the end you find out he never renewed the paper... Where's the Humor!?!)...

I'm sorry, there are very few things that set me off in this world, and while current cartoons are one of them, new cartoons being based off of old cartoons is like a slap to the face...
