New Zealand Distracted Driving PSA

eric3579 says...

Name of the yt channel is WestVancouverPD, but the video is from New Zealand.

Youtube description...

#SafetyVideoSaturday on WVPD Social Media, featuring some of the best Traffic Safety Public Service Announcements we can find from around the world.

Great use of humour in this New Zealand Transport Agency commercial on #DistractedDriving?

This is the West Vancouver Police Department in the province of British Columbia, Canada. This is not New Zealand.

Angry pedestrian gets instant karma

Thanks Captain Obvious I know how humour works.

You're making an assumption that I'm bent about her opinion. I'm not. I think she's 1. not funny (requirements for being funny = being funny), and 2. not a deep thinker.

Yes, I've seen some terrible things (more than just seen, I've been right in the thick of it), but I was never bothered by those situation - they were the "fun" jobs. Most paramedics are like that.

With comedy It can be very funny just like most things in life. Maybe you are unaware that Payback is ALWAYS poking fun.

I have a hard time finding suicide funny. A joke about suicide has to be pretty spectacular for me to not feel uncomfortable. We all have OUR things based on OUR experiences. If you want to get bent about someone joking about 'road safety', that's on you. I do however understand why you would feel this way based on your job as a paramedic, and what that has comes with.

Bonus hilarious joke about suicide

Oh don't I?

You didn't think to maybe ask (since I haven't said anything about what I find funny or not).

Hint: paramedic = sense of humour 10 x darker than yours.

You still haven't answered my first question.

Sorry, didn't realize until now you don't have a sense of humour or the absurd. Noted for future reference.

You don't have well thought out opinions. Your examples are very poor.

Love with a VR boyfriend

I don't know what I'm more jealous of. That VR setup or the girlfriend with the HIL-AR-I-OUS sense of humour.

How little sis tells rest of family about leukemia diagnosis

noims says...

Not sure how to put this in the context of the video, but...

My gf was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months back and has just finished chemo... now prepping for surgery, radio, and hormone therapy. I know that's a world apart from chronic leukemia - like flu and aids are both viruses - but her attitude was/is:
"Ok, I'm sick, I've got to go through some crap and I'll be better than I am now, even if I'm not fully cured. There's no point raging out about the big fight, or raging inwardly about how unfair it is. I've just got to do some stuff.

"Sick or not, going to work is annoying but necessary. When I need to take care of my child or bf it can be annoying, but necessary. There's no promise that life is easy, but you just do what you can."

I think it's great that people have the strength of character to rage against the disease and not give in to depression, but I will forever be astounded and impressed by my gf's incredibly practical "meh" attitude.

She's Russian. They're a strange people with the weirdest and most practical dark sense of humour, but it's amazing how practical that whole side is.

Samantha Bee - Strange Bedfellows

FlowersInHisHair says...

You know what? I believe him. I buy it. I want to hear more from him. What convinced me? It's the little specks of humour from him in this video. It's like a rational mind has been buried beneath apocalyptic rightist bullshit for so long. Maybe his self-awareness only brings him so far to "my side" but it's undeniable that his is a unique perspective, and while time will tell, I will have an open ear for him for the next 4 years at least.

Postmodern Jukebox - Virtuoso Gunhild Carling does it all

FlowersInHisHair says...

I've been following Gunhild for a while - have a look around YouTube for her other stuff. She's a huge talent. Breathtaking virtuosity mixed with style and humour is always going to win me over. If she were around in the "Music-Hall-Era" she'd have been a global superstar.

Well then, I somehow, quite presciently, manage to miss all of the departments that are easily stereotyped by caustic British humour.

That was really my only motivation for getting a Master's in Peace and Conflict Studies - nobody knows what the hell it is.

Ok, I thought he said swim, but it didn't make sense to me in the Tarzan context.

Like I said, I don't find racist "humour" funny, so I really don't keep up on the stereotypes.
