The Floating Water Bridge - Startup & Expansion (Real Time)

ACTUAL FOOTAGE of the Videosift database server on 3/11/2009

"The jaws of life can't cut through those cars." (Wtf Talk Post)

kempire says...

It comes from the fact that the hybrids and electric vehicles present unique hazards to emergency responders that require extra training and caution when being cut apart. There is limited information and practical experience about how to safely cut them apart since they're not very common yet.

Air bags and side-impact bags also have the potential to be dangerous and require rescue personnel to be aware of the hazards associated with working and cutting around them.

"It's not being paranoid about doing extrication with hybrid vehicles, it's just being aware of different aspects of the vehicle and how to address them."

What's different with gas electric hybrids is the electricity. High voltage cables run from the motor in the front to the battery in the trunk. "This is a 200 volt nickel metal hydrate battery pack (in the trunk)," says (Assistant Fire Chief Dan) Furseth.

It is with great pleasure the committee presents this years Nobel prize to a man who has advanced the understanding of high voltage desserts. Presenting our award tonight, please welcome, Mr. Bill Cosby.

how to do the cell phone popcorn hoax

Like I said here ... it is very dangerous (as in lethal / deadly) to touch anything inside your microwave (even if it's unplugged) if you do not know what you're doing. The high voltage capacitor still has the capacity to kill you if it's not discharged even if the microwave isn't plugged in.

Crank:High Voltage HQ trailer w.720p download (for joedirt)

EDD says...

Yeah, let's just shoot the messenger. IGN said it was HD, so I relayed the info. turns out you can DOWNLOAD a 720p version, but they're streaming a ~480p one. And yeah, I now what HD means (720p/1080p+); this time I just didn't verify whether they were streaming as advertised (not that I think it's a criminal offense - I don't think a lot of sifters browse videosift on FullHD displays).

>> ^joedirt:
STOP using "HD" if you don't know what it means.
This is not HD, it is high quality or 640x360 High-Resolution which is just marginally as good as NTSC. (or 40 year old technology).

Big straw man.. "given the alternative"
I could point to 100 internet videos right now showing taser use and in every case it was never the situation where you might draw down on a suspect. It is a convenience tool now used for compliance. Yes, they can be safe and useful and save lives in certain situations, but the majority of the use ends up being lazy or "bad" cops using it for sadism or efficiency of results or just for compliance.

Failing to comply to an officer is a sure fire way to be detained and/or shot with a high voltage electric probe...or a gun. As most any lawyer will tell you, you can avoid the crime but you can't avoid the ride. There is a difference between police brutality and police powers of aresting.
Your argument is actually the straw men in this case as it is the lawful responsibility for a person to abide by the lawful requests of an officer. Any diviation from this results in a use of force by the officer to be determinded by his discresion...and when you are putting yourself at someones discression expect to experince pain and/or humiliation.
I don't know what your would rather when people are being hostile or standoffish with the police. Would you rather them have to call 4 other officers with feather dusters and tickle a person into submision? If so, none of us would get any protection because the police officers hands would be so tied because of their inability to reasonably enforce the laws.
I understand the problems you have though, I too also worry about police abusing their powers. That is the subject of a different conversation though. In short, if you act in unlawful defiance of an officer expect a hard body check to the floor at minimum and a cold electric probe in your flesh at a maximum.

How the Cell Phone + Popcorn Trick Really Works

joedirt says...

I personally think everyone watching this should flag it on YT.
THis is the most dangerous video I've ever seen. You know how many people will try this?? First of all, isn't the magnetron leads also connected to some very large high-voltage capacitors? I'm pretty sure those will kill you with two handed discharge. (You;re probably ok poking around with one hand).

Also microwaves are very dangerous. Aren't most of the studies coming out now showing the cell phones cause DNA damage to children. It might not be ionizing, but I'm pretty sure it wrecks DNA, unless it is too tuned to vibrating water, and hence all the water absorbs all the energy.

Anyways, for sure all the idiots around the table watching it would have their eyes cook. Also the energy falls off as 1/distance^3

For anyone contemplating digging around inside their microwaves, be aware you can receive a lethal shock even when it's unplugged because of it's high voltage capacitor. Very irresponsible for whoever made this to leave that out.

Darwin works his magic.
Anyone willing to do this without knowledge of electrics, and a radiation shield...well I say go for it.
Its about time we had a mass exodus of stupid from the gene pool.

IMO, this video is staged. The burns are electrical, but are from being 'grabbed' by high voltage, usually by workers, not during a lightening storm. Cooking like that takes time and high amperage.
When you are in a car, what protects you from ultimate harm during a lightening strike is that the roof and body act like a Faraday Cage, protecting you from carrying the current.
What's important here is what you (or anybody) can do with amateur special effects and a little mild misinformation. We'll probably see some more of this just before November. If you do it right you can change the course of history.
