Anthony Weiner - THE PICTURE WAS OF ME & I SENT IT

My_design says...

He would have shown more moral character by not getting into this situation to begin with. He only came out with the truth because more proof of his infidelities were becoming known. I asked my wife if sending a pic of my member and having sex based conversations with other women would constitute cheating. Her answer was "Yes, and if you ever do it, I will kill you." Now he may have a different arrangement with his wife, but since he felt like he had to hide it and keep it from his wife, I think she and my wife may feel the same way. So he knows he was cheating, otherwise no guilt - hence no moral character.
My guess is that he knew it is wrong and got off on the fact that he was doing something that carries great risk. I also think that the writhing in quilt and the punishment is something else he secretly enjoys and once it is all said and done, and he has gotten away with it, he will repeat all his transgressions.

And he showed his moral character by coming clean on the incident. Took him awhile, but 10 days? I'll give someone 10 days to writhe in guilt at getting caught.
So you should be proud of him, right?

>> ^My_design:
The problem that people seem to be missing is that he cheated on his wife and knew it was wrong. He felt guilty and lied about it. This is important in that if it had not become public his indiscretions could have been used to manipulate a US Congressman. That is why MORAL CHARACTER is actually something that we should use to evaluate our representatives. Lord knows Illinois could learn that lesson. When you put someone into a position of power that lacks moral character, such a Bill Clinton or Blagovich, you wind up wasting time and tax payer money when their indiscretions eventually comes out.
If you don't use moral character in evaluating a politician you risk their being found out and causing an uproar as is the case here or far worse they become open for manipulation by corporations, organizations, or other countries.
How do you think Soviet Russia managed to manipulate many of their sources? Hell the oldest cliche in the book is to take a morally questionable US representative, or military official, out on your corporate yacht/plane/resort with a bunch of hookers, drugs and high end liquor. Before you know it you've got a Kennedy in your pocket and a ton of grainy black and white photos.
The problem is how do you determine that someone is actually moral? Because I liked Weiner and thought he had moral character. Tricked again.

Sex Scandal Flowchart (Blog Entry by NetRunner)

I just want to make sure you have the facts straight.

Bill Clinton
John Edwards
Eliot Spitzer
Gary Condit
Gavin Newsom
David Paterson
Barney Frank

These are the most famous politicians that I am actually familiar with. I didn't do any research on obscure politicians from the sticks. I'm sure we can all agree that I could go on, but what's the point. Same as the republican party - there are more than have been previously mentioned.

Paterson is still Gov of NY so he obviously didn't resign
Newsom didn't resign
Clinton didn't resign
Edwards didn't resign or get pushed out of anything. He had already removed himself from the Presidential race before anyone knew about his infidelity.
Condit didn't resign even though there was more than just cheating involved in his scandal.
Barney Frank is still "spraying it, not saying it" to this day.
Only Spitzer resigned.

Edwards and Clinton have continued to be active in politics since their affairs were made public. Clinton remains popular among some democrats (he was very active during the last Presidential election) and Edwards gave an interview last week in which he stated, "What happens now? If you were to ask people during the campaign who's talking most about [poverty], it was me. There's a desperate need in the world for a voice of leadership on this issue. . . . The president's got a lot to do, he's got a lot of people to be responsible for, so I'm not critical of him, but there does need to be an aggressive voice beside the president."

I guess he thinks the world needs him. Doesn't sound like a resignation to me.

And don't get me started on all the TAX evasion scandals this year: Charlie Rangel and Tim Geithner to name the two biggest.

You guys are all so cute with your delusions and wild imaginations, though. It was a nice attempt at winning the game of "partison politics."

It's pretty clear to me who has a "holier than thou" attitude here on the sift and on the news.

"Missing" Gov. Mark Sanford Admits Affair in Argentina

Psychologic says...

>> ^Fjnbk:
Mark Sanford has been an idiot on the fiscal and monetary front, but he's never said that much about moral matters. Yes, he voted for Clinton's impeachment, but it's disingenuous to paint him as a Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell type politician.

He supports teacher-led prayer in schools along with displaying the 10 commandments in school. He defines marriage as "one man, one woman" (and mistress?) and stated that South Carolina should not recognize same-sex civil unions. He also opposes adoption rights for gay couples.

Sure, there are far more vocal (and extreme) people out there on such issues, but that doesn't change Sanford's stated view of the importance of marriage and opposition to allowing homosexuals to take part in it.

He's certainly free to not like homosexuals, but it kinda sucks to see people use political office to promote religious "morality" at the expense of the rights of others. His infidelity doesn't change my view of him, it just makes his stance on marriage even more laughable.

Bill Clinton in major showdown with Fox News anchor.INTENSE!

pho3n1x says...

i wanna know why everyone is hung up on his cigar/intern fiasco... this kind of shit happens ALL THE TIME in big business, and no one cares. not to mention the fact that his infidelity is an issue for him and HIS WIFE, not the entire country. tell me the last time ANYONE has been indicted for something of this nature.
i think that International War Crimes far surpass Infidelity on the 'Sins against mankind' list.
