Marvel Studios' Black Widow - Official Teaser Trailer
For those who are interested:
The Red Guardian
"Alexi Shostakov was one of the Soviet Union's most acclaimed test pilots whose heroism caught the attention of the KGB. They arranged for Shostakov to wed Natasha Romanoff , a top agent of the secret Red Room Academy, later known as the Black Widow. Intending to manipulate Natasha years after the couple’s marriage the KGB arranged for a rocket Shostakov was supposedly piloting to exploded, giving the appearance of his apparent death.
Shostakov’s “death” drove Natasha deeper into the Red Room’s service, although, in reality Shostakov, was alive and recruited into the KGB. He was given the identity of the Red Guardian, a costumed heroic guise first assigned to Aleksey Lebedev (aka Volodymyr Fomin) during World War II by Soviet Premier Josef Stalin, but the costume had become the property of the Red Room. Through the Red Guardian, the Russians hoped to hone a national hero to represent them just as Captain America (Steve Rogers) represented the USA. During Shostakov’s training the Black Widow, who was again using her maiden name turned against her superiors, and defected to the USA, becoming romantically involved with Hawkeye (Clint Barton) of the Avengers."
Father Rescues Son from Tree Well
Am I missing something here? Ending up in a tree well while skiing in a copse area is quite common. Maybe not quite as deep as this kid got into, but its hardly an act of heroism here...
Don't you want this to turn out to real?
But yes..., that's the point!
Helping our common man should be so ingrained in us that the mere act of picking someone up and helping someone shouldn't be an exception. It should be the normal.
And since it should be the "Norm," we should never have to emblazon such praise on a task that should be so basic.
We have become a culture where we bestow praise on people that are doing what should be considered nothing at all. In this we are lowering the standard of what greatness is.
Helping this man, shouldn't be an act of heroism, it should be an obligation. But no, we pick up our cell phones and celebrate a task that is so basic, that we have made the sublime, exquisite!
Amazing Pilot Skills - Saves His Plane
So, he thought it was a computer system problem when in actuality (very end of video) something basically blew off the back end of the jet nozzle assembly and by implication damaged the tail assembly? Gutsy. And if they figured why and could fix it in the other production planes, heroism worth the title.

True heroism.
Interview with the man who rescued three kidnapped women
This guy kept it real.
could it be that Charles Ramsey just improved race relations by leaps and bounds with that single selfless act?
did black people suddenly become less scary to white folks because of his heroism? God I hope so.
WW2 German Fighter Pilot Escorts American Bomber To Safety
Time changes so much. I wonder, how long does it take for our viewpoints change enough that dereliction of duty to becomes heroism?
If, say, the USA went to war with Iran now, and some US pilot spared an Iranian plane - or land installation, as would be more likely - how much praise do you think they'd earn?
If only we could have the perspective of a few decades more when we look at our current times...
Man Saves Kid from Burning Building
Good job, but not sure of the veracity of the; "What an incredible display of heroism." description.
Man Saves Kid from Burning Building
I've decided I don't care how much the stupid people deserve what they are getting while watching a "Fail" video, I'll always much rather watch a "win" of humanitarian heroism such as this.
Policewoman Kills Hostage Taker Solo
I saw this video about a week or so ago. I thought about sifting for the policewoman's heroism and her nonchalance, but ultimately decided that this was basically a snuff film.
So, I downvote as well. It is an amazing video, if true, though.>> ^SDGundamX:
Yeah, I downvoted. I don't believe videos like this contribute anything of value to the Sift. There are plenty of other sites where you can go to watch people getting horribly maimed or killed. VideoSift shouldn't be one of them, IMO.
As a reminder from the VideoSift submission guidelines:
I'll leave it to other Sifters to decide whether this video runs afoul of the guidelines or not.
Joe Horn: Has Shotgun, Will Defend Neighbors (911 call)
>> ^braindonut:
Some people watch too many cowboy movies and dream of getting to play hero... I'm surprised he even called 911.
He wanted to make sure his "heroism" was properly recorded for posterity.

Hero Cop Saves Suicidal Woman From Rooftop
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero
"Later, hero (male) and heroine (female) came to refer to characters who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self sacrifice—that is, heroism—for some greater good of all humanity. This definition originally referred to martial courage or excellence but extended to more general moral excellence."
Anonymous - OPERATION LEAKSPIN - A Call To Action
4chan can best be understood in D&D terms as chaotic neutral. Like the Norse god Loki, you can expect a certain amount of evil entropy for any dead done. For every act of heroism, there will be a corresponding level of evil implicit in the way they operate.
