What Makes John Bonham Such a Good Drummer?
I totally agree, John Bonham was a totally amazing drummer and his untimely death was such a loss to music; as were the early deaths of Marc Bolan and Jimi Hendrix. I would love to have heard how their music evolved.
There are few drummers in the world that can compare to John Bonham, one of those few is Neil Peart of the Canadian rock legends RUSH. There was a article a few years back in Rolling Stone magazine which listed him as number 4 (Bonham was number 1!!). I think Keith Moon was second, although I don't know why. Peart is far better!! I can't remember who was third.
Thank you for this Oritteropo! Keep the beat mate!
black sabbath-electric funeral-remastered
@ChaosEngine
hehe,specifically it was a dude i was in boot camp with.he was a massive hendrix and zeppelin fan and was not into sabbath.which of course our first liberty we both got drunk and traded our favorite songs from both bands.
but i even heard it when i moved to jacksonville florida.everybody told me that zeppelin were the masters of metal and sabbath were only good for a couple of songs.
say whaaaaaaaa?
i had to show them the error of their ways.
James Hill - Voodoo Child (Hendrix Ukulele Cover)
Jesus that sounds just horrid. Voodoo Child is one of my favorites, so its not the song. Don't try to play Beethoven on a harmonica, don't try to play Hendrix on a toy either.

Jimmy sings "Barbara Ann" with Five Wax Jimmys
That song is called Barbara Ann???
Mind = blown.
All these decades of my life I've never seen it written and I've thought it was a meaningless, kitschy "Bop bop bop - bop bop a ran."
In the immortal words of Jimi Hendrix, "Excuse me while I kiss this guy..."
Get Lucky Played by 10 Epic Famous Guitar Players
...or Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, etc, all of whom are/were much more influential than Kurt Kobain...sheesh.
Elton John about 2CELLOS
Well, I'm going to respect Elton's opinion on this one. I believe he's got enough clout in songwriting and singing, playing and recording to know when he hears some talent. As someone who was there to hear Hendrix live as well as most of rock as it developed, he's got the experience, earned first hand. I know the internet is filed their with covers, but I do believe they write their own music as well.
Comparing them to Hendrix is pretty disingenuous.
Hendrix was not only technically innovative in terms of the way he played guitar, but he could also use those techniques to write music.
The 2Cellos guys are certainly great musicians, but so far all I've seen them do is covers. I could be wrong and they might be writing amazing original pieces, but they're famous for their covers.

That was cool, but not quite as awesome as Jimi's version
