Don't mistake disrespect for increased security. A respectful security agent is at least as effective as a disrespectful one. All of these searches could have been done in a more respectful way. (You'll notice nobody is complaining that there's too much security, just that it's disrespectful.)

When I used to travel by air through the States, the security folk had this attitude like I had no choice but to travel through the States, and that gave them licence to bark orders at me in O'Hare and JFK, like I'm a convict being admitted to prison. But I do have a choice, because I'm only passing through, so I never travel through the States anymore, if there's any way to avoid it. And I'm safe. And respected.
