Gully goes where you think he shouldn't

Retroboy says...

When someone gets around to capturing stuff like this with dual GoPro's that can be played back through Oculus Rift, there will be a lot of vomit on PC keyboards.

P.S. 1:46 : Oh look there's a convenient cliff to push the guy with the vuvuzela off of.

Death by Return to Home. It's a shame the rock which blocked the signal also blocked the path home.

From http://www.diyphotography.net/drone-looses-contact-operator-activates-return-home-crashes-gopro4-rock/

The lens was damaged, good scratch on the bottom that was noticeable in later videos. Drone’s electronics were all fine, smashed up the arms and propellers which he has plenty of spares for. This isn’t his first time doing this, he did the same thing last winter and found the gopro a few months later still in perfect condition without the case. He has the video on his page, it’s pretty cool

Nixie: Wearable Camera That Can Fly

ChaosEngine says...

@My_design good info, thanks.

A few things though:
they're not actually looking for crowdfunding at the moment (at least, it's not on their website http://flynixie.com/ )
there are some videos of them launching a proof of concept from the wrist http://youtu.be/_VFsdPAoI1g
but admittedly, you don't see it fly and it's not a slap band as of now.

I have a gopro and it does broadcast, although not in HD in real time. You can connect it over wifi to your phone and see the shot as it is being framed with about a 2 second lag in SD. Both of which are fine as long as the footage is captured in HD. I'll grant you the weight is an issue, but most of that is in the battery and the housing. Nixie wouldn't need a housing, and I'm guessing the wifi/camera power requirements are much less than the motors. Plus it only needs less than a minute of flying/recording time.

Out of interest, since you seem to know about this stuff, have you heard of Hexo+ and if so, what do you think of it?

Golf GTI Paints with Light! - Motor Trend

1 GTI, 100 GoPro cameras, 100+ hours of footage for.... what? Something that could have been literally done in 5 seconds in photoshop? I love me some VW GTI but jesus, what a waste of time for everyone involved

Reggae Shark - Key of Awesome

spawnflagger says...

Just tap into the undersea fibre, there are repeaters every few miles.

Seriously though, I never thought about it. My guess would be not very well, and after a quick search I found this video - http://youtu.be/49K2hjV9OOY ("How to make your GoPro WiFi working underwater"), so there wouldn't be a need for such an "antenna extender" if WiFi did work well enough under water.

Any submarine experts on the sift??
I suspect that very low frequencies could work, but there is probably a max depth below which they couldn't communicate well.

I get what you're saying, I just think the title reads as "homemade-drone video" whereas you obviously meant it as "amateur drone-video".

I just got a GoPro myself and I cannot tell you how tempted I am to buy one of these Apparently you can even get them to follow you down a track or mountain. Awesome bit of kit

lucky760 said:

It's homemade because it's just some guy who bought a drone and flew it around composing professional-looking videos.

I wouldn't imagine he'd have to build a drone from spare parts and only record video inside his home for it to be validly considered homemade.
