Special Ops Death Truck [Surprise Gatling Gun]
>> ^ant:
MythBusters had this one in one of their episodes to shoot a dead tree down.
They also shot a fish in a barrel with it.
Special Ops Death Truck [Surprise Gatling Gun]
>> ^supersaiyan93:
okay, i get the panels on each side of the shooter, but dude, his balls are behind just glass.
Do you think that they are gonna spend that much money on the gun and the modification to the roof and NOT replace the windshield and other windows with bulletproof glass?

you're telling me that is GUNFIRE? that is from the gatling gun on this beast? oh my god they are going to put an eye out with that crap
I wonder if that effectively vaporizes a large part of the body. Instant vaporization would be a great way to go. You didn't think the conscious should be shut down gradually did you?
As the gun is designed to shread Armor, that is -tanks-, it would have to be somewhat overmatched for anti-personnel duty. Which is what the cluster muntions are for. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
A-10 Close Air Support Hits Too Close
The GAU-8 Avenger on the A-10 Warthog is meant as a Anti-Tank weapon thus it is loaded with a combat mix munitions composed of Armor Piercing Incendiary (DU) and High Explosive Incendiary rounds.
The combat mix is a practice solution for what is essentially a belt fed system in the air, changing munitions out is not ideal within a combat zone where targets of opportunity would change requiring a change of attack profile, the A-10 landing and switching out rounds would not work.
I believe this is a video from Afghanistan not Iraq. CAS is provided by US forces for International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which is an operation of NATO nations including the U.S. BBC News would report casualties, while close calls like this is a daily occurence for operations both in Afghanistan and Iraq. This was from MilitaryVideos.com

I see what you're saying: That 90% of tech submissions would be of the geeky nature...
In reply to this comment by dag:
I hear what you're saying, but I still think the cross-over would be too great. 90% of the tech posts would also be geek posts. That means we're taking up 2 channels where 1 would have done. With growing channel proliferation, we want to conserve those 7 allotted channel spots to be as distinct as possible.

Choggie, you must live in Maine, because it's exactly how you described it.
Than you all for the wonderful comments, and Dag, about the channel thing:
I argue that the crossover is MUCH less than people have made it to be.
For example, I cite these videos:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Solar-Air-Conditioning
http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Antikythera-mechanism
http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Aquaduct-pedal-powered-water-filtering-vehicle
http://www.videosift.com/video/Computerized-model-of-how-a-Gatling-gun-works
http://www.videosift.com/video/Get-tasered-from-100-feet-away
Things like that get slapped with "geek" even though it really is more of a plain "tech" thing.
I think Rembar (where the hell IS that guy?) summed it up nicely in this channel.

Future Weapons: The Dillon Gatling gun firing tracer rounds
>> ^Aemaeth:
Call me ignorant, but I can't imagine anything we need to fire 3000 RPM at instead of 2000 RPM. At what point is it just ridiculous?
Suppressing fire. You hear that gun, you run. There's no two ways about it. Not to mention that what it really has a stunning effect on is light armored vehicles. You don't even have two shoot at anything for a full second. Just a nice quick squeeze and a thousand rounds say, "No one is getting out of that car."

Because its 1000 more dead terrorists per minute...
i don't think this gun will see many terrorists..
