If he had tried this on the edge of the highway, or while juggling flaming swords, well, that's a whole new eia ballgame.

What's even more impressive is that all the gymnasts you see at the Olympics winning the medals have faceplanted and otherwise epic fail-ed a huge number of times in their training. While they have harnesses and such to learn with, at a certain point they have to get up on the balance beam and do a somersault, and let hilarity ensue.

I've never seen the movie, but that smoke pouring out of the faceplate of Yeager's pressure suit helmet was pretty chilling.

I'm partial to educational videos and things you just don't get to see in normal life. I tend toward witty or intelligent humor. Faceplants and nutshots are a dime a dozen, but once in a while one will stand out.

I'm pretty stingy with my votes and I'm probably one of the more active downvoters. Before voting I usually ask myself, "Does this belong on a list of the internet's best videos?" Most of the time the answer is no, at least in my opinion, and that's all I can offer.

This is an idiot getting punished for his idiocy; that makes me laugh. If the video was 2 minutes longer and we actually saw that his foot had been severed, I would probably laugh quite a bit less.

How would you feel simply knowing that the foot was severed, rather seeing it in the hypothetical extended video? Would that change the humor value?

In retrospect, perhaps. On first glance, no. I feel for him, both for the severed foot and the minimal intelligence.

That is not really the point. The point is that in this example it's his own fault, therefore I don't feel bad about laughing at his misfortune. Faceplants in general are of this sort, people who behave stupidly and are punished (sometimes severely) for it. A car accident is most likely not the injured peoples fault, and I would feel bad about seeing humor in that. If the above video ended up hurting another person, who was completely innocent, I would not see much humor in that either.
