Dave Attell On Conan (lots of good jokes)
I didn't get the Dave Attell thing in the 90s but I certainly do now. He's one of the funniest comics there is and wherever he goes he seems to always kill.
Apparently there was competition between him and Louis CK and Attell obviously won, but I glad he did so Louis could mature, get better and now dominate. The Free Market of Comedy works!
Bill Burr on Abusing Women
While I agree that he is a physical comedian, I would argue that there's nothing wrong with that as a device to enhance his performance. In the same way Steven Wright uses a monotone voice and lackluster delivery to enhance his mundane observations (which are hilarious in my opinion), or the oft-imitated cadence of Dave Attell, Dane found a voice. That's not new in comedy ("I get no respect" - Rodney Dangerfield).
Do me (and yourself) a favor and seek out a Dane track that you've never heard (audio only) and try to listen to it without cracking a smile. Don't fight cracking a smile, but see if you can last a whole track without doing so. Maybe try a couple. That's the test I take whenever I think I'm judging a comedian too hard based on my perception that could influenced by external factors.
Note: It's a fact that Bill Engvall is NOT funny. I've listened to an entire album and did not crack a smile...he does NOT pass the test
I don't hate on Dane Cook because it's hip or in. I simply think he's not funny that relies on physical over-emphasis of uncreative observations. Hyperbolic pronunciations of words and repetitive loudness does not translate to funny.
And I, too, am a lover and connoisseur of stand-up. Have been since I was a kid.
He simply rode a wave of over-rated popularity. And now the rational comedy-lovers have pulled him back down to where he belongs - in the group of comedians who don't belong at the top.
Doug Stanhope on Osama, Politics, Trump, etc
I saw Dave Attell in NYC and he was not very funny. Also, U.S. did not want to bury Osama to stop people from making a shrine out of his tomb; they buried him at sea the same day in accordance with Islamic law. But of course, ignorant people will understand half the issue and conspire the rest. I would downvote this video if I could.

Who is the ?David Tell? he mentions... need vids
I highly recommend you grab a copy of the Dave Attell Insomniac Tour. It's Dave, Sean Rouse, Greg Giraldo and Dane Cook. The best part is, yes, Dane Cook comes on last so you can just push stop there rather than having to fast forward through it.
Dave also had the show, Insomniac, on Comedy Central for a few years which was both hilarious and interesting.
How Meth affects our body
"Let's say you're in a situation where crystal meth can help you. Like -- I don't know -- you have too many teeth." -Dave Attell
The brain shutting down dopamine transmitters in response is one of those things I like to mention to intelligent design advocates.
Every Bitch Must Tip! - The Wiener's Circle
When I first saw this unique hot dog stand on TV it was via Dave Attell's show Insomniac. Because of the nature of the show they only showed the "all in good fun" side of it and it wasn't until I started looking for a clip from that show did I find this one that also shows the darker side.

Lewis Black - Two Bowls of Shit
I heard him on stage a couple years ago with Mitch Hedberg and Dave Attell. One of the Comedy Central tours. Hedberg was very drunk but still kinda funny. Black was good, but I had just listened to his recent CD. Big mistake there... lots of recycled material. Attell was the best guy and his was (rightly) on last.
"The Wiener's Circle" in Chicago (in my old neighborhood)
I lived just a few blocks down from this place in Lincoln Park.
It isn't necessary to be drunk to enjoy the "atmosphere", but it helps.
From Wikipedia:
Wiener's Circle is a popular restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. It is located at 2622 N. Clark St. It is best known for its interesting staff members (the most famous being 'Poochie') and the 'Chocolate Milkshake' (where if you go late at night, pay $10 and ask for a chocolate milkshake you get flashed by one of the almost all African American staff). It has been seen in popular culture on Comedy Central's Insomniac with Dave Attell and NPR's This American Life.
Five More Minutes of Mitch
When I saw him in Connecticut with Lewis Black and Dave Attell, he was incredibly drunk. Even brought a beer on stage. He's not stoned normally... that's just how he was. Though when he was drunk, he was horrible.
