Pretty good, but the singer really needs to start smoking cigars, her voice is too smooth.

Why Should You Read James Joyce's "Ulysses"

ulysses1904 says...

He definitely put years into it. I first tried reading it cold, with no prep. I read the first 3 pages over and over and gave up, it made no sense. A few years later I read a book about it which was a huge help. Then I found an entire section at the Connecticut College library dedicated to it.

I'm still finding "hidden tracks" in it after reading it and reading about it for 25 years. Like how the first 3 chapters parallel the last 3 chapters. How Bloom's path at a certain point in the city resembles a question mark. The barmaid Sirens, the drunken lout Cyclops character, and all the other Odyssey parallels.

I visited the Martello tower from Chapter one when i went to Dublin, that was so cool to be there. I never did find Nelson's Pillar though. ;-)

I think this may be the book that Joyce said took him a lifetime to write so it would take a reader a lifetime to read (comprehend)

So you support a cheating lying bitch who fully endorsed a Senator Byrd , a Grand member of the KKK and You are saying Im drinking the Kool-Aid?

Robert C. Byrd was a recruiter for the Klan while in his 20s and 30s, rising to the title of Kleagle and Exalted Cyclops of his local chapter. After leaving the group, Byrd spoke in favor of the Klan during his early political career. Though he claimed to have left the organization in 1943, Byrd wrote a letter in 1946 to the group's Imperial Wizard stating "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia." Byrd attempted to explain or defend his former membership in the Klan in his 1958 U.S. Senate campaign when he was 41 years old.

In this context what does that even mean. You do realize that every white supremascist, neo-nazi, and racist organization in America supports your friend Trump don't you. Given that how can you support him? Oh wait, right nevermind.

lol - Cable is the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey's clone.
I must be a geek, but I've been waiting from the beginning of the x-men movies for Cable and Bishop. They had Bishop in the Alt universe in the last X-movie but we didn't really get to see him much. I'm hoping he comes back with Cable.

Wrath of the Titans Official Trailer #2

yellowc says...

I was excited momentarily until I found out this is a sequel to Clash of the Titans, I could not even enjoy it for action or effects, as neither was really that good quality at all.

I also dislike the enormous disbelief we have to put in to Sammy boy wiping the shit out of everything, I'm sure he'll take down a Titan single handily, even though he'll struggle against the Cyclops.

This is Tom Hardy, the actor who plays Bane as Shinzon from the hilariously awful Star Trek Nemesis.
Note the goth "Rainbow Brite" outfit and Dr. Evil similarities.
The character Bane is 6'8" and 350 lbs. Hardy is barely 5'10".

I continue getting high now...

This is the problem I had with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Although Jackman was pretty great, he's 6'3" and Wolverine is like 5'5"!

But they didn't have any idea what was going on cause in the 3rd movie they killed Cyclops and that just isn't done...ever.

Some people have an irrational hatred of obamarx. The rest of us hate his Progressive, communist, anti-American agenda, failed spending schemes and fraudministration of tax cheats and alinskyites.

Anti-Insert Country Here agenda arguments only seem to work in countries that are under totalitarian rule. In a real democracy people aren't ridiculed or attacked for their differing views they are argued against. Calling something Anti-Country is a tool used by Dictators and should be laughed at like in almost every other country on this planet. Go tell an Italian that his views are Anti-Italian...it's just retarded, and shouldn't even be a part of the conversation.

So why's everyone down on the Matrix trilogy? (Scifi Talk Post)

demon_ix says...

Crake already said most of what I had to say regarding why the second and third made the first movie worse. QT also made that point very well, as Fusionaut pointed out.

The Matrix Reloaded had exactly three good scenes in it. Neo vs. The Smiths, The Chateau Fight and the Highway Chase. The rest is an attempt to surpass the first movie's philosophical ideas that fails miserably. The entire Merovingian segment was just sad.

The Matrix Revolutions had the same problem as many superhero movies seem to have. When you have a character with too much power, it soon becomes problematic to create plots that aren't solved with "Neo flies in and saves the day". So instead of thinking up an actual challenge to those powers (or, to delay that challenge until the end of the film, with the Smith fight), they simply disable the hero.
Cyclops gets disabled in every single X-Men movie. He's more a cripple than a superhero.

I don't want to get into the whole prophet, architect, control and the rest of the philosophical concepts they try to introduce in Reloaded and Revolutions, because, while in the first Matrix they were so subtle with their actual message, in 2 and 3, they simply cram them down your throat like it's a classroom.

The magic in the first movie is completely obliterated by the sequels. That's the best way I can describe how I feel about it. It's also why I don't regard them as relevant when discussing The Matrix with friends.

So you´d prefer Wolverine´s claws or his mutant healing?

I've always thought that Wolverine's superhealing was - by far - the best mutant power out there.
Also, the way these two acted at first reminded me of a gay couple adopting their first baby lol

Best mutant power is easily just any kind of omega-level mutant like jean or jubilee or whatever. Jubilee was meant to be one of the most powerful mutants ever, apparently limitless in power, and being omega-level supposedly makes you all but immortal. Hence jean dying doesn't necessarily mean she's dead. The phoenix rises, etc.

I realise how nerdy this looks, but after watching it yesterday on film4, i decided to read up on what exactly happened to cyclops, which led to jean, which led to omega-level mutants and to jubilee and onwards....

Honestly.
