California can't pass a state budget, and I found a blog... (Politics Talk Post)

blankfist says...

Johny has two quarters, four dimes, six nickles and twelve pennies. He needs to pay for his state subsidized school lunch which costs $0.86 plus $0.37 for a half pint carton of milk. He also wants to buy an orange to eat with his lunch which costs $0.44.

How much money would Johnny need to steal from everyone in the cafeteria to pay for his orange? Please pick the correct answer:

1. (Libertarian) He will have to go without an orange, because stealing is wrong.
2. (Republican) If there was prayer in school, his cup would runneth over.
3. (Democrat) $0.35.
4. (Green Party) What was that milk carton made of? Is it biodegradable? Is that plastic cutlery? Whoa, Johnny cannot have this lunch until its carbon foot print is known.

Got this feeling that today doesn't like me
Oh, the air tastes like flowers and paint.
There's a sink full of bottles and cutlery
And the car has got a list of complaints.
I just wish I were a toothbrush or a solder gun
Make me something somebody can use.

We can wish on the pop of a lightbulb
Or those photos lying yellowed and curled
Loose in boxes near abandoned electronics
In the corners of the basements of the world.
Guess our wishes don't do dishes or brake repairs
Make them something somebody can use.

Got a face full of ominous weather
Smirking smile of a high pressure ridge
Got more faults than the state of California
And the heart is a badly built bridge
Seems the most I have to offer doesn't offer much
Make it something somebody can use.

Make this
Something somebody
Can use.

Worst Parents in World Trick Child on Xmas

smibbo says...

LeadingZero: you're focusing on the package more than the kid is; he's not so upset that he's not getting an xbox (before he ripped the wrapping off, he didn't think he was getting an xbox either) he's upset because he was lied to and then mocked and teased for believing the lie.
FOr you to trivialize his experience simply because the object in contention is an xbox is callous. His pain would be just as real if he had been hoping for a pair of jeans and opened the box to find a cutlery set while everyone mocked him for being disappointed.
