Yeah, It's been a few years, and I just missed the water festival last time I was there- but it's a very cool place to hang out. I got my wisdom teeth pulled there. I could really go for one of the green coconut curries I got in the markets there.

Chang Mai water festival is the bomb!

Japan is a lot of fun. Very different from Vietnam for sure. One of the things I've noticed is that Japanese people don't consider Japan to be part of Asia. For them, there is "Asia" and then there is Japan.

My favorite place in Asia, outside of Japan, is Northern Thailand- around Chiang Mai. Great food, laid back people and elephants everywhere.

Prospero says...

Back in college some friends of mine tricked a guy into watching this (as he had previously mentioned a fear of clowns) and, when Pennywise came out of the background of the old photo of the town, I swear the guy almost had a nervous breakdown.

I didn't think it was funny, and I always thought my friends were jerks for doing it... you really shouldn't mess with people with issues like that.

Hmmm... does Tim Curry play Pennywise? There's a certain similarity to the facial structure.

Fugu - Preparing and Eating Deadly Japanese Puffer Fish

PostMortem says...

I've seen baby fugu for sale in Japan in pet-fish shops. They are really cool looking!!! They look almost perfectly square, like dice!

My friend was thinking of keeping pet fish and really wanted to start with fugu. He and his wife have an often stormy relationship.
So we spent some time checking out pet-fish shops and the baby fugu.
He was telling me about a fight he'd had with his wife that morning.
And as a joke I said,
"With the kind of relationship you have with your wife you may not want to keep fugu around the house. You never know if she would drop one of the babies in your curry-rice at dinner....ha ha ha...."
He then looked like he was thinking about it seriously and said,
"Yeah, good point" without a hint of joking!
He never did buy any fugu for his fish tank!

I have a young son and wouldn't dream of keeping pet fugu just in case my son got too curious.

Trademark laws are such that if you allow people to abuse your intellectual property, your hold on it weakens. Even if they want to share it, for the valid reason you suggest above, it can hurt them b/c of how the legal system works, sadly - hence the hyena like behaviour.

It's promising to see CBS and others releasing "legit" clips we're free to post without fear of takedowns; if only they got more aggressive.

I'm confident that we will see the day - in fact, I just cited examples of it happening - where we (sifters) will be a highly courted "market"/group that professional programmers will want to curry favour with to promote their shows.

And with great power, comes great responsibility, yadda yadda, it's just videos, let's enjoy.

In this first part, the girl(Becky) meets the five cubs prepares a living room for her to stay and tries to be friends with them by playing with them.

Automatic upvote/downvote policies are the prerogative of the Sifter - there's no official policy on how you use/enjoy the Sift.

I totally agree with your point of view, although I have automatic upvote "policies" of my own. With the caveat that I usually think of them as "semi-automatic" upvotes. I'll watch it first to make sure it's actually a good vid (once in a while there's a weak posting of Simpsons or whatever), but anyone seeking to curry favour with me will know

On that same topic, I've said it before and I'll say it again - I have a semi-automatic Family Guy upvote policy which usually cancels out theo's downvotes. Although when InvaderSil joins in, it's still a net -1 against the vid.

This vid mixes nicely with http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=14746&where=queue
