Craig Ferguson speaks on the Aurora Colorado shooting
>> ^bareboards2:
Actually, there was plenty of silliness, as it was recorded the night before.
He starts with audience interaction and a monologue. Both those were cut, especially since the monologue was about Batman.
There were plenty of jokes and pre-tragedy innocent fun.
>> ^ant:
What was the whole episode like? I assume no jokes and stuff. I remember 9/11 was like that. I think some hosts were crying too.
Ah, interesting and thanks.

"Do you know who wants to have sex with men with really big muscles? Other men with really big muscles."

This guy may be looking at the wrong team.
You should try saying that in front of a man with really big muscles.

Me too. I can't stand the fakiness and the obvious contrivance.
His shows aren't always good, and he interrupts too much in his interviews, but the shows are always alive in a way that is unique to an overly controlled medium.

I always liked Craig Ferguson he's the only late night comedian I'll watch anymore.

Paul Foot at The Melbourne Comedy Festival '11 - Eating Cake
I've seen him somewhere before. Craig Ferguson maybe? Or perhaps it was a top comic competition? Anyway, he made an impression and makes me laugh too =o)
President Obama Slow Jams the News
Yeah, Craig Ferguson is on at the same time as Fallon.
Being a CraigyFerg fan, I was disappointed that Obama didn't go on his show. Then I realized -- he probably doesn't want to reach the stoner audience. Stoners and women of a certain age who are already voting for him.

Trying to reach the young voters there eh Mr. Obama? Working hard I see.

Tyson Schools Maher on the Meaning of Faith
>> ^Yogi:
>> ^hpqp:
Oh Maher... you need to learn the meaning of words; first "atheism", now faith?
Faith is confidence or trust in a person or entity. He can have faith that they will be good guests because he has confidence built up by previous visits.
Oxford English Dictionary:
a. Confidence, reliance, trust (in the ability, goodness, etc., of a person; in the efficacy or worth of a thing; or in the truth of a statement or doctrine). Const. in, †of. In early use, only with reference to religious objects; this is still the prevalent application, and often colours the wider use.
You are right that people sometimes use the words "faith" and "trust" interchangeably, something I deplore, since trust is evidence-based (people "earn" our trust by proving themselves trustworthy), while faith, in it's original sense, is not. I realize I am nitpicking though.
