Coulter wants DADT for all of Society

"uh huhaha hua huahuaha oha hahaha" - Ann Coulter

I hate her stupid fake laugh, and the way she talks.

She only makes good points no one else makes because they're blindingly obvious. Men can be effeminate without being gay? Some people who think they're gay might actually be straight? Yes, we know. We just aren't going to let it stop us from making fun of or enjoying jokes about Michele Bachmann's "wife".

She's also really confused about the military matters Joy Behar brings up (lol). What Happy meant is, if 'teh gay' was a problem for military preparedness, we'd know it from these other countries. But problems are not apparent. So Ann dodges the question and says they rely on us for military protection. If that's so it's because of our ginormous military budget, not because our military is uncontaminated by teh gay and girl cooties. Which means that in this exchange, Joy Behir comes across the military expert among the two. TrolololoLOOOOOOL.

Obvious sure, but funny. Fake laugh at that, bitch!

Gay teen suicide: Seth Walsh speaks from the grave

bareboards2 says...

Have you listened to any gay people talk about their experience? It runs the gamut -- people who knew at age 5, people who didn't admit it to themselves until they were in their late 20's (I'd bet it would have been sooner, except for societal pressure).

Heterosexual kids are the same. Little boys who have girlfriends in kindergarten and boys who are in 9th grade and still think "cooties!!" as you say.

The human experience isn't rigid, it's fluid. The only test of "truth" is the person themselves.

Seth knew he was gay in the sixth grade. Certainly to be as abused as he was for so many years, if it wasn't true he had plenty of time to change his story.

I don't think it is for us to "argue" with someone about their personal self-knowledge.

Uhm, that's my point. at that early of an age, I would argue it's generally too early to have any sexual identity. Even a hetero kid might think girls have "cooties," so to speak, at that age.
The hormones inside kids, hetero or homo are going nuts at that stage, making a determination at that age seems premature.

I -did- make sure to put free-market in quotes, and add "so-called" to the description, just to make sure nobody mistook my comment for a claim that there's anything like a free market in this country. Sheesh...should I have used caps lock too?

All I was trying to do was represent that there are also plenty of folks who believe that we've waited long enough for "self-organizing systems [that can] often yield more efficient solutions than puppet-strings" to show that they actually will. It's time to try something else...way past time, IMO.

And just for the sake of accuracy, there isn't really any such thing as "THE" European system...there's a bunch of different systems used in Europe, from fully socialized to private non-profit highly-regulated insurance. Virtually all of which are demonstrably more effective than ours.

All that said, I don't expect much...I expect that our government-by-lobbyists will continue to keep any real reform of the inherently fucked-up fee-for-service approach from being considered. Even though I hope I'm wrong, I no longer believe we're going to see any real change until after the apparently inevitable violence, and even then it's questionable.

And why does the preview look fine, but the quote gets messed up when actually saved?

Like I said, it's worked well for Singapore. Is there something I don't know about Singapore? Does it have more cooties than Europe or something?
Also, for the record, I'm not exactly Blankfist. In fact, I referred to myself when talking with Blankfist as "statist swine." I get paid by the government to do public funded research in human vision. I supported the stimulus, and thought the bailouts necessary. I don't support Ron Paul. I hate tea-baggers. I just happen to think maybe the European system isn't the be-all and end-all of efficient healthcare.

Godless Billboard Moved After Threats

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

If a courthouse had a display of a dozen different ancient law codes, and the ten commandments was one of them, I don't think it would be a problem for most atheists. The problem is when that is the ONLY one displayed, especially in the form of a 2.6-ton granite monument.

Atheists need to be more willing to acknowledge America's historical roots. America's formative underpinnings were always steeped in Judeo-Christian values. The 10 commandments are THE document that epitomizes the origins of both values and laws for that culture. Atheists need to lighten up in that respect. To have a courthouse want to pay homage to one of the most important documents in Judeo-Christian legal history is not a big deal.

That said - if the ONLY thing American courts ever displayed were the 10 commandments then atheists would have a point. But of course that is not true and never was. Courts, schools, and public locations frequently display a great variety of thoughts from many cultures. The 10 Commandments are simply the stock in a stew as far as that goes.

And if you take another look at the ten commandments, only two of them (murder and theft) are still against the law.

It's still the most important 'document' in regards to the historical origins of the values & rules that the courts hew towards. Honoring your parents, not coveting other people's property, telling the truth, and honoring your marriage vows are values very much pertinent today - atheist or not. The 10 commandments have a religious half (1st five) and a behavior half (2nd five). Atheists only have a problem with the 'I am your god, no idols, keep the Sabbath' bit.

And I also think it is highly unlikely that your local library would be able to post "God is dead." on the wall. But I'm glad to hear you would let it slide if they did.

I have never understood why people get so offended just by someone daring to have a different point of view. I'm not so insecure in my values that I dare not see the smack of some other value system. Are atheists so insecure that passing by a stone block 10 phrases on it is going to give them religious cooties? Are Christians really so weak that the sight of a billboard is going to turn all their kids into atheists? Feh!

Any person who demands that different points of view be 'removed' from their presence because they disagree with them is nothing but a coward. I was exposed to the beliefs of all kinds of philosophers, thinkers, and cultures at school. I didn't go around whining about it when I ran up against positions and ideas that I disagreed with, or that I thought were a load of hogwash. Oh no - someone is praying to Allah in my high-school! That's a violation of my 'rights' to be exposed to that! Pht - please - only a coward thinks that way.
