Jeez dude - cut the little guy some slack. I mean, how often is a kid that plays the Star Wars Cantina song on harp going to get laid?
In reply to this comment by joedirt:
Seriously, screw this little rich brat and his mommy-made me learn harpsichord crap. ZOMG>.. I live in rich house with lots of useless culture. Let the pitchfork bearing mobs teach him a lesson in the new economy.
Fermi Paradox and Keanu Reeves (Blog Entry by dag)
Well, extraterrestrials are quite real. The, ah, "source" for this information claims that the universe really does look as diverse as the cantina in Star Wars.
My argument with the "source" was if the alien technology was so advanced, why dissect cows? Can't they download all that information? The answer was that aliens are devoid of and do not understand human emotions.
Supposedly the main alien groups are the "grays" (the generic Area 51 midgets) and the "reptoids". What they want is either too complex or ridiculous to imagine, and as there is no solid proof for any of it, the skeptics must rule.
After hearing all this, I was madder that the ET retards have anti-gravity tech and dimensional warp drives while we with our "love" can only make lame hoverboards with leaf blower engines.
Baccara - yes sir i can boogie
Well, America had some real Disco "gems" in 1977 as well... although I'm a pleasantly surprised by this October hit: "Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band"
The Hellecasters
This gives me a Star Wars Cantina vibe... super cool.
Star Wars vs. Saul Bass: Deluxe Edition
>> ^oxdottir:
OK, I admit, I watched the other one a while ago, but I detect no difference
Where is the parody?
all of the things that lucas had wanted to put in A New Hope, but couldn't, that was then inserted into the Deluxe Edition.
most of them are represented here, including:
brighter lightsabers, to match the look of the later films.
jabba's appearance, in the hangar, just after the cantina.
stormtroopers on dewbacks.
more spacecraft in the battle of yavin.
a bigger explosion for the death star.
Indiana Jones: Truck chase scene
Idiot! Idiot! Snaba Pa!
Man, George Lucas writes shitty dialogue. Everything he writes sounds like some weird alien from the Star Wars cantina.
The Battle of Naboo -- re-edited with more appropriate music
i really dislike how this kindof "muppet humour" pops up in everything that lucas (and often spielberg) do. the new version of the old star wars films, whats was added? cgi animal that farts and a singer in the cantina that is taken from fraggle rock... and in transformers, that new decepticon, fraggle/muppet humour...

Excellent! Coincidentally, Fox Sports Grill also at the Irvine Spectrum is where we happened to meet with Dag. Looks like that should be the starting point of consideration for all future OC SiftUps.

Again, I'll handle reservations once I've heard back from Jonny. Hopefully YDJ will bring his camcorder so we can create macro HD videos of each other. Kidding.

One problem I thought I should mention about that little area beside the Newport Beach pier is that there is an enormous number of people who patronize the beach, pier, and area businesses, but extremely limited parking. The kind of limited that will likely leave most of us circling the lot for a long time or parking very far away and walking in.
I'm not a big fan of that hurdle, so if there are any other suggestions worth fielding, let's hear them?
I for one think Javier's Cantina and Grill at Irvine Spectrum would be a wonderful choice. Also a local place, but quite a bit more spacious and easily accessed.
Thoughts?
Free to Be You and Me: William's Doll (1974)
Good research find, dotdude. I am rather surprised that 'action figure' as a marketing term was not around in the 1950s.
Once Star Wars came out, it rendered the central issue of this video moot. William could pretend that stormtroopers or cantina creatures were female or just spend an inordinate amount of time with Leia.
Star Wars - A Compilation of Some Mistakes
Um...this is pretty lame. First, the guy protecting his face as he's thrown? So what? That's pretty nit-picky. Also, the Jawas couldn't have another red R2 unit? Also, you only saw the little panel on the front. Did that really spoil the whole movie for you?
Second, the coat that was there and then isn't? It's called a slightly different angle you moron. The coat was probably still there you just can't see it because the camera came in for a closer shot and a slightly different angle.
The shadows that were outside the cantina changed? So a film crew should just shoot one shot, then wait until the next day at the same time to shoot a different shot with different things going on. If they did this on every movie, the budget would skyrocket! Again, that spoiled the movie for you? Just about EVERY movie has different lighting conditions in the same scene.
I didn't bother watching the rest of this clip if all this guy is going to do is show things that don't matter at all. Why not take it further and point out all the "mistakes" as in lightsabers aren't real, there's no sound in space or explosions and all the creatures you see are clearly just men in costumes?
Vote this down...it's too lame.
