If I'm the artist, I wonder how many cutouts I have to make to be as efficient as possible, 6-10 frames? Seems like a lot of boards to waste (even if they're recycled).

20+ year professional game dev here. This commercial conflates a mix of common game client bugs (eg: texture streaming errors, physics glitches, and animation attachment offsets) with straight up nonsense (upper half of coffee mug popping in with a phone over and over is caused by a slow network connection?). They never show any actual network performance problems that they, as a company, have been responsible for causing in real life.

It's as if a city council came out with electrified upgrades to their formerly-diesel city buses and to promote this fact, they cut an ad showing:

- monkeys driving the bus
- constant gunfights between the elderly
- piles of feces on the floor
- bus stops existing in a quantum superposition of clearly identified and invisible
- tribal warriors on the roof spitting blowdarts at passersby
- every seat is actually a block of super-chilled ice

Never once would they point out reduction in chronic asthma to the local schoolkids or lung cancer in their bus drivers. But hey, so long as the company looks good, who cares about accuracy in ads?

What about me? I do all those things and more. I didn't just change my own brakes, I swapped my own motor. I don't just plow my field, I sow, weed, and harvest that field. I've not only repaired a roof, I've built a few. I know hard work, I was a one man desert racing crew. Now that's hard work, being mechanic, transporter, driver, and pit crew....all at 112 degrees.

So, why don't I love Trump? Because I'm a real conservative....ecologically conservative, fiscally conservative, fact based, socially liberal (the government has no place in my bedroom or my body), and insistent on honesty.

Republicans abandoned conservatism before I could vote.

I agree with Mass Bike that the truck driver was responsible. Not sure that he should be criminally charged, that's a really big hammer to use on someone that almost certainly did not intend any harm. But he wasn't even cited, although he left the scene. He called the Boston police many hours later, from New Jersey.

That said, I would advise any cyclists to avoid ever putting themselves in the position that Dr Kurmann found herself in. It is dangerous to ride beside large vehicles with limited visibility, as we see. Also good to note that semi trucks frequently swing left to set up a right turn -- I don't believe she realized the danger she was in until the truck was close to actually passing in front of her.

The symbol in the middle lane is a "sharrow", which really indicates that the middle lane is not a bike lane. The sharrow is supposed to indicate to motorists that bicycles may be expected in the lane, and to remind cyclists that they are allowed to use it. The Boston police report gets this wrong, irresponsibly making the driving public stupider. At the time of the crash the right lane was used as a turn lane, and there was a bus stop just before the crash site, making it likely that cyclists would use the middle lane.

It's fun to say that you never trust anyone, but that can't literally be true. For example, I trust thousands of drivers standing at red lights or stop signs not to charge out and run me over. It would be almost impossible to move in traffic without relying on most drivers to do the right thing most of the time.

The driver behind flashed his lights and honked, to warn the oncoming truck.
The bus did not stop on an approved bus stop, and the transport company was looking into the incident.
But then again - this could easily have happened on a regular bus stop.
Some places, where there is quite a distance between each bus stop, the bus driver and parents agree to stop certain places between the bus stops.

Norwegian busses have always, since I was a kid, had warning labels "Do not cross the road before the bus has left". This is why.

Reminds me of the song about people who meet at a bus stop in the rain. Too tired to google it.

Everytime I see one of these "bus stop" commercials I'm 100% certain that:

1) they truthfully do put in the exact technology they say they do.
2) they never intend for it to work properly, if at all.
3) there's someone pressing a button nearby.
4) once they're finished filming, it all gets taken away.

I'm not QUITE to believing every smoker filmed was a plant, but I'm close.

Who could name it "Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel".

This video reminds me of a situation I was in about a year ago. I was sitting in a bus and all the seats were taken, but there was plenty of room to stand comfortably without having to press against each other. A guy got on the bus, came to my seat and stood unreasonably close to me, pushed himself against my left side and started rubbing his pelvis against me. I didn't know how to respond and although I was very uncomfortable, I just endured it, because I knew that the bus stop was only a few minutes away and I would soon be able to get off the bus. There were many people around me, who probably didn't pay any attention to it. Afterwards, I tried to think of other reasons for him standing so close to me, thought that it might have been unintentional and that I might have read too much into it. I tried to forget about it and moved on. Come to think of it, I can't find a reason for him rubbing against me, since the center of the bus was almost empty.
Until now, I didn't realize that these things seem to happen to women on a regular basis. I don't know if I would be able to speak up if something similar happened to me again. I would be afraid of making an unnecessary scene, thinking that it may actually be unintentional and that I am reading too much into it, in which case I would sound like a lunatic. I know that this thought is irrational, but this is what I would think in that situation.

The one car that pushed him into the bus stop had a graduated licensing "L" sticker. Means the driver -a Learner- HONESTLY didn't know wtf they were doing. Passenger/teacher's fault.

The collapse of the Cold War has let the repressed sectarian and religious hatreds of a hundred years or more (the Serbians still fixate on a glorious defeat that happened in 1389...I'm not kidding) boil over across the planet...

Two random factoids I can't quite resolve in my head:
1) American's think we spend 25% of our national budget on foreign; we actually spend somewhere between 1.5% and under 1 % depending on how you include certain payments (the Nordic countries embarrass us by spending 2-3X as much as us as percentage of GDP)...and

2) It is pretty much a demonstrable fact that we are now living in the most peaceful time in human history. How horrifying it must have been to live in any other time---
