Gun Control in the UK

Yossarian says...

Trust me there is no appetite whatsoever in the UK for looser gun control.

The fox hunting ban had nothing to do with guns or liberty and everything to do with a bunch of rich country gents wanting to tear apart foxes with dogs. The rest of the country wasn't so sure this was something worth marching about.

And nobody was denying Tony Martin the right to defend his home, although some did think that him shooting the burglar in the back with a shotgun might have been a tad overzealous.

NRA: The Untold Story of Gun Confiscation After Katrina

xxovercastxx says...

First, I agree that the NRA is totally nuts. Let's get that right out of the way.

During gun rights discussions on Videosift, I often hear "this isn't the wild west anymore", that gun ownership is no longer justified in modern society. Given that, when NO was reduced to something resembling a post-apocalypse movie, with burglars and looters a constant threat, and with authorities overwhelmed, isn't that exactly the time when people ought to have a way to protect themselves?

Confiscating guns at a time like this is no different than suspending habeas corpus for terror suspects or ignoring freedom of speech because people are critical of the government: that's what those rights are there for.

NRA people are so freaking nuts. New Orleans after the storm was a disaster zone not normal America. Was it wrong to take the guns? Perhaps, but after the storm passed and life started to get back to normal, did they continue to take your guns? Of course not.

Shelving System to Hide your Valuables, Guns & More Guns

I think it's kind of cool. Dude can store whatever he wants. Honestly, if he's going to have those guns in his domicile (which he is free to do) I'm glad they are in a place that is unlikely to be identified by a burglar, and thus they are unlikely fall into the hands of criminals. I actually prefer this to a safe, unless the safe is immovable.

Why does this guy need to justify his collection? Would you guys react differently if they were swords?

I want to see where it's stashing it all - how big is the pile?

The owner states: "I have 2 boxes full of stuff (never mind what I threw away) need to get a storage place for the future things." He/She also mentioned that sometimes the neighbors will come a'knockin' in search of missing items =o)

That cat is either a kleptomaniac at heart or is gathering resources so it can build a device to take over the world! You decide.

After this comment from the owner in response to a question from a YT viewer: "He doesn't want to know them once he brings them home, he screams until I acknowledge them and then walks to the fridge - cheeky cat", my guess would be klepto =oD
