Oh no....Trump backing racist right wing terrorists Proud Boys and other far right violent groups are rioting in the streets of Portland, shooting pepper ball guns, spraying bear mace, shooting guns, shooting large fireworks at people, brawling with weapons, attacking press, and setting fires.

Police are standing back and have said publicly that except for life threatening incidents they won't even show up....giving tacit approval of the terrorists rioting. (Proud Boys are a right wing terrorist organization in case you missed it)

Trump's "good people" are now the ones "burning down cities". Own it.

Violent brawl at Disneyland

Royal guard punches annoying guy.

bremnet says...

Come on... when's the last time you were in a brawl? Have seen lots of guys go down with less than that, caused a few of 'em too. A guy back home (Mike Lubbock) was about 6' 1" tall, big broad shoulders and barrel chest, would sooner fight than eat and used to win most of the time. Unless you caught him just below the right cheek bone, and he'd drop like a soft rag. Usually woke up after a minute or two. The Metheral brothers were about the same, and so was Keith Verstagen. Doesn't take a serious medical condition, just one of those things.

Drachen_Jager said:

And there's no way that punch would have kayoed anyone without a serious medical condition.

And, and, and....

Yes, it surprises me anyone thinks this is real.

Why cultures that lose their wiser elders get into trouble

poolcleaner says...

@SFOGuy False positive. This is not the type of serious brawl that occurs when there is a severe lack of parenting in a particular neighborhood.

The "wise elder" in the video is proof of this -- he wouldn't have been able to so easily break up a fight if your anthropological study were at all accurate. The kids know they're in the wrong. They just don't like being laughed at by their "friends".

I've also never heard of a culture where teenagers don't get into fights after school and where classmates don't use peer pressure to bully less aware students into fighting. This is a classic scene from countless middle class neighborhoods, white or black.

When their yuppie parents see this video, I can almost guarantee some asses will be red. Unless they're the kind of ultra liberal parents that don't believe in punishment -- then I may be inclined to agree with you in part.

Ending Free Speech-Elizabeth Warren Silenced In Senate

newtboy says...

Actually, it was created because a horrendously racist senator that advocated lynching from the Senate floor was maligning a Jr. senator for considering the annexation of the Philippines. The Jr. Senator heard, rushed to the floor, and accused the Sr Senator of telling "willful, malicious, and deliberate lies", and the Sr, Tillman, rose and attacked the younger Jr Senator violently ending in a brawl on the Senate floor.

..so technically, it was created to protect senators from the lies of racists....but it's now being used to protect and hide the racists' lies and actions.

Another rule that's a rule, when a law is routinely not enforced, it becomes legally invalid. This rule has been used once in over 100 years, and consistently ignored for the remainder of it's existence....so if the rules of the Senate are law, and I think they qualify, this one is no longer valid.

Drachen_Jager said:

Except in this case the rule was created specifically to protect members of the senate from cries of racism.

When fascism and totalitarianism take over and the rules are written by bad people for bad purposes simply saying "rules are rules" is naive and dangerous.

Still waiting on some specific examples from you on how Obama "ruined" the country (or for you to admit you were wrong). Your words have no weight so long as you run away from the slightest hint of a counter argument. I can see why you like Mitch's move here, it's exactly the sort of thing you'd pull.

You fear words because you are wrong, Bob. If you stopped to pay attention you might actually have to reevaluate your position and you're too much of an intellectual coward to do that, aren't you? Prove me wrong, by the way, let's see an open discussion, rather than your usual drive-by commenting followed up by hiding in the basement from any cogent dissenting argument.

A bold strategy of non-stop baffling stupidity worked wonders for trump though. . .

It seems republican voters are just in the mood for a brawl, and a demonstration of force like this is just the sort of thing that turns them on.

Is anyone else just baffled by this move?... this had to be one of the most politically stupid maneuvers I've ever seen.

Who really told McConnel to do this...

He, and MANY of his contemporaries are unbearable cowards but he isn't politically stupid.

It's not just slavery.

The bible is also big on stoning your kids to death, forcing rape victims to marry their rapists and cutting off the hand of a woman who breaks up a fight. Hell, if you're a dude who's had a really unfortunate accident, no church for you!

As soon as the bible is no longer a perfect guide to morality (which it's clearly not), it is rendered completely useless.

my15minutes said:

i simply ask those people, "do you believe slavery is wrong?"

because the only mention of slavery that i'm aware of in the bible, is that you should treat your slaves well.
not only is that not a condemnation, it's tacit approval.

so if religion is the source of morality, how do you know slavery is wrong?

even just using god's name as a swear word makes the top ten list of hell-worthy offenses, but one of the most barbaric crimes i can imagine doesn't, and it even gets an implied thumbs-up in the fine print?

religion is not the source of anyone's morality.
it's the enforcement system we invented, for those of us so morally bankrupt that they can't see a good deed as its own reward.

Hockey Fights now available pre-game! Full-teams included!

Come on *Canada get your shit together. Bunch of fuckin' savages

I am however interested in knowing what kicked off a pre game team wide brawl.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Key members of a Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) franchise have been suspended until the end of the 2016-17 playoffs following a hot-tempered brawl during the pre-game warmup on Sunday.

The Laval Predators, who play in the infamously fight-happy LNAH, were involved in a melee before the puck drop on a game against the St-Georges Cool-FM.

Predators co-owner Eric Lajeunesse, CEO Lucien Paquette and assistant coach Dannick Lessard all received two-season bans on Tuesday.

The eight-team, Quebec-based LNAH, which is considered a "low-level professional league", is known for its outrageous behaviour, with footage of a bizarre on-ice scene going viral seemingly every other month.

Other supplemental discipline, announced on Wednesday, include:

LAVAL: Maxime Bouchard and Clint Butler (suspended for remainder of season/playoffs); Steven Oligny (7 games); Joe Rullier and Chris Cloutier (6 games); Philippe Pepin (5 games); Jonathan Oligny (4 games)

ST-GEORGES: Yannick Dallaire (3 games); Alexandre Gauthier and Jean-Michel Biron (2 games)

Only Canadian Hockey Fights End This Way

Fairbs says...

Players aren't obligated to fight. There are usually just a couple of guys per Team that are fighters. They DO really want to hurt each other. Broken cheekbones, broken noses, broken jaws, concussions, bloody nose, ... are often the result of fights. My definition of the term staged fights in the NHL is where two fighters agree to have a fight and it's not just part of the normal flow of the game or due to something else that's happened during the course of the game. I think the main reason there are not more injuries during fights is that it's not an easy skill especially on skates. Here's a good article on the role of the enforcer in the NHL (three part series is long, but very informative)...

AeroMechanical said:

Absolutely. I don't mean this in the WWF sense of "fake," but certainly in the sense that the players are obligated to fight as part of the show, know this, and don't really want to hurt one another. They're cooperatively putting on a show to get the spectators riled up. It's not stage fighting, but it's not real fighting either.

The main point regarding this video is that two men of that size and athleticism in the same situation, were they not holding back almost entirely, would kill each other in short order. Even so, I'd agree that they're hitting hard enough so that they're risking unnecessary brain damage over the longer term, which is why I think it's cruel. As they say about boxers: it's not the big hits that do them in, it's the accumulation of all the little hits.

Of course, there is a part of me that likes the fights too, but I personally would prefer ice hockey without them.

The Most Violent Sport On Earth - Calcio Storico

Mauru says...

Unfortunately it is only interesting when condensed into a video of this length. The usual matches seem to consist of 50 minutes of people engaging in poser brawls - then somebody remembers that he can actually run over to the other team's goal.
The lack of athletic competitiveness means that neither the fights nor the ballplay end up particularily engaging :-(

Oh, alright. Yeah, the song's okay, but it's the video I love. I guess we don't have to bare knuckle brawl then.

It's like a song an infant would write; the same nonsense phrases over and over, eugh, yuck, gives me a headache. Also, unforgivably, it has no guitar solo.
