Computer Chips in Your Brain

Stormsinger says...

Nothing I've seen in 40 years of working and playing with computers has given me the slightest interest in letting someone run software directly in -my- brain. The prospect gives a whole new meaning to "Blue screen of death".

What Am I Doing Here?

Near death experiences have been scientifically investigated, and reproduced.

Large power, low frequency EM waves induce similar "white tunnel" prospect.
As does depriving the brain of oxygen.

Its not supernatural, its a hallucination cause your brain gets fucked up as you near death and cant process the world like it should.

Blue screen of death...if you will.

Visual Effects In Movies: The Green Screen

AeroMechanical says...

It wasn't really all that long ago that it was always annoyingly obvious when they used a green/blue screen with weird blue halos around the actors and inconsistent perspective, even in big budget films. Now it seems so perfect that even if I'm looking for it I can't see it, and on TV shows no less.

Computers are cool.

Acute Dupitis (Sift Talk Post)

BoneRemake says...

We do not have "Criteria" in place to constitute what is a dupe and what is not.

Its always personal justification it seems. One person sees it this way, another sees it this way and heads butt.

Calling dupes is part of sifting, but it has to be done responsibly and not with lame reasons.

How much extra content constitutes a non dupe ? ten percent more time or ten seconds more ?
do blue screens at the beginning have to do with content and time or just time ?

what if its the same video but the background music is different ?

We need like a ... "official" to make these sort of calls, not a self appointed one(s).

Thats my thoughts on the situation.

~0:54 - appears to be a bit of bleed from a blue screen. If not, the motion still appears off as though it was tacked on using motion tracking in After Effects. Heya @blankfist, you're a cinema wiz - care to weigh in?

I read somewhere ambidextrous people can have memory and learning troubles I think.

Like if you attempted to become ambidextrous, your brain would start to blue screen randomly as it began to re-wire itself.

Tho yeah, that's cool. =]

video of a REAL ghost NOT fake!

spawnflagger says...

I've experienced a "haunted" building before. It was in the basement of one of the local Library branches. (I used to do IT work for the network of libraries, so I've been to more than 60 in the county). This happened in the daytime, I was downstairs in the basement checking a network connection on the router or something like that. I heard a distinct 2-person conversation coming from the next room, as well as some old music (1920s?). I assumed it was just other people who worked or volunteered there, so I went about my business. A few minutes later I went in to ask if they knew where a ladder was, but no one was there. Also no radios, record players, computers, etc (anything that can make noise) was in that room. There was only 1 staircase up, and I was between that room and the stairs, so I would have seen someone go up.

I consider myself a skeptic of most things, and was not primed in any way - it was only after the fact, when I told one of the branch workers, that they said "oh yeah that room is haunted", like it was common knowledge and no big deal. Apparently they had many people witness paranormal stuff.

Maybe voices from upstairs could have gone through the ductwork, but that doesn't explain the music.

On a side note, that branch had a statistically significant high rate of blue screens, on identical hardware/software configurations deployed to many other branches. That was eventually tracked down to poor electrical wiring at the site (it's an old building- historic landmark status). When we installed good surge protectors at every PC, instead of plugging into wall, the BSODs dropped down to normal rate... but I prefer to believe that ghosts cause blue screens

A "give Steve Jobs your money" tribute video.

Thank god these god awful, combative, bullshit ads are over.

I like both the actors, but forever HATED this sort of trash talking advertising, especially as so much of it was based on perpetrating bullshit myths that maybe were true many, many versions of Windows ago but don't hold up today. (When was the last time you had a blue screen of death or system wide hanging in Windows? Really? I can't remember...)

And the blatant lies that Macs never crash, are the most simple things in the world to use, are molded from the flesh of willing angles... all such drivvle.

Pay to Wank - Porn-Star PSA

BoneRemake says...

I'll Upvote anything that has ALektra Blue in it. I kind of laughed near the end, somewhat in the same context of how I laugh when I start a movie from a vcd and see the copy write blue screen.
