Obama v trump - fox on american relations with north korea

bobknight33 says...

For all the BS from media this is still something to behold.
Yep FOX blasts Obama and now its Main stream blasting Trump.
What do you expect, real honest reporting? Truth left the train station decades ago.

Cyclists Tempt Darwin

ulysses1904 says...

Two things I learned living next to Amtrak rail in Mystic, CT, unless you're near a road crossing they are dead silent until they are right up on you or blasting their horn. So I learned never to walk on the tracks with your back to train traffic. Also it's easy to forget that they are a lot wider than the rails themselves. I was sitting on a rail bridge drinking a beer, heard a train coming and assumed I had plenty of clearance. I look up at the last second and realize I'm going to get killed, jumped down onto a bunch of boulders at the last second. Painful lesson that I never forgot.

Bug Cry 5: Far Cry 5 is full of surprises.

CrushBug says...

Far Cry 5 has some bugs. Most are hilarious because they involve the physics engine. That is what makes the game so charming in spots. Some bugs interfere with game play, but Restart From Last Checkpoint is your magical fix. Stuck in an object? You can Fast Travel and that solves it.

The 2 hands thing happens when you futz with your FOV and screen draw settings on PC.

The game is a blast. Companions are great and have things to say. Game play is great, and, I can't believe I am going to say this, but the fishing mini game is fun.

Totally worth the money I spent on it.

Gun Control Explained With Cats

My_design says...

You want to defend yourself from bad government with an AR-15? How did that work out for the people in Waco? An AR-15 isn't going to defend you from the government. A Michigan militia isn't going to cut it either. The only thing that will defend you from the government is a 2+ Star General who doesn't like what the government is doing and gets his troops to agree.
For dealing with Robbers/Mice - A normal cat, is much better suited in that case. An AR isn't going to provide you any more protection, in fact it will likely provide less. There are 2 schools of thought for home protection - A big bang to scare/kill a robber or accurate and a little less deadly. I'd go for less deadly as then I don't have to worry so much about rounds flying through walls and hitting other people. A 12 gauge with bird shot should be perfect for that, loud as hell, but wont blast through the drywall and hit a kid. Plus it will get a nice spread, so I'm likely to hit whoever was dumb enough to come into my house. An AR-15 will go right though the walls - of my house and maybe the one next door.
So I don't need a bad cat to defend myself. A good cat does it well enough and it isn't worth having the bad cats on the streets keeping me up all night.

Good analogy except isn't there is a real purpose for having a bad cat. To effectively defend yourself from criminals or what the 2nd amendment meant to defend yourself from a bad government. Now where the line is that prevents us from driving around in tanks or having missiles to just owning a cute little kitten is... I cannot say but I would think having a standard issue combat rifle (ar-15) is within the reasonable limits. Just my take on it.

Buster Keaton Talks About Making Classic Silent Movies

Fantomas says...

In the shot in which buster is blasted off the large spout by water, he broke one of the bones in his neck. He only found out when later in life he had an x-ray and the doctor asked 'so when did you break your neck?'

First article i found on it. Sounds like he linked two facebook accounts on twitter, one of them for posting a picture of some sort of super hateful poster that got put up in Peterson's neighbourhood? Blastedly hard to find bare facts in stuff like this.

can someone verify the claim that peterson "essentially" DOXed anyone? it seems a lot of info is being fabricated, cherry picked, and manipulated.

Colbert Fixes CNN's Apple (Trump Vs Fact) Ad

RFlagg says...

CNN uses more facts in a day than FOX has total since the days I watched it day in and day out and railed against the commie left, and the dangers of the Demoncrats some 11 years ago (here's a prior version of me on an account I couldn't recover: https://videosift.com/video/Fox-News-takes-Rep-Wexler-from-the-Colbert-Report-out-of-context-I-enjoy-cocaine-because#comment-12957 ... I thought there was another post under that account where I blasted evolution but I don't see it)... had I not opened my eyes and started vetting, I'd probably be right there with you though, so you go and do your thing.

Counter Protest Attacked In Charlottesville, Va

bcglorf says...

The extreme right IS growing it's base off the people the extreme left are alienating. It is NOT enough for the left to just hope to similarly grow it's base by those alienated by the extreme right. That didn't work so well for Hillary. "Growing it's base" is code for gaining power and support, aka more people that can act and vote. The Dems need to do more to draw in extra voters, the current trend of doubling down harder in condemnation of anyone that didn't vote Hillary is exactly the opposite of what they need to be doing. That's chasing away voters that need to be won over. Go back to those same voters with some of the olive branches I mentioned, or come up with some others, but at least make a blasted effort to grow your base out too or else your shrinking your own base while the right extremists are growing...

Hiker Followed By Bears

BSR says...

A great way to scare off bears and loose dogs while biking or hiking is to carry an air horn. Walmart sells them in the boating section. A can of compressed air with a loud, shrill blast. Boaters use them sometimes to signal bridge keepers to raise the drawbridge.

Nerdwriter - How Not To Adapt A Movie

cloudballoon says...

I've seen most of the GitS material incl. the comics & anime. I actually found the Hollywood adaptation watchable.... because I placed it in its own little isolated corner and the lowest of expectations -- Hollywood, blockbuster, skin-deep sci-fi... and I came out much relieved it wasn't as bad as the critics said. At least I had a nostalgia blast from the visuals. My blockbuster movies watching has evolved into a state of "don't care to be angry/don't pay to watch at the theatre/ just wait them out to be on Netflix/clearance DVD BluRay)

Seriously... how can anyone expect anything of above average depth from a Hollywood blockbuster anymore? Don't be silly and set yourself up for disappointment.

I can totally understand their reasons for risk-aversion. From their perspective, they got burned too many times financially (not saying it's not their own doing) to make films that demand thoughtfulness from the audience. I just don't believe in Hollywood will give us anything deep anymore for these big budget films...
