David Beckham surprises fans at London 2012 photobooth

I hate to sound so cynical, ok, I am, but jeez, It's a multimillionaire footballer, that's all. Get a life.

If it was some fucking chump like john terry i could understand, but beckham deserves every penny and compliment he's ever earned and he's the only modern english footballer i'll say that for. He's less of a professional footballer nowadays than he is an ambassador for whatever good causes he has time to lend his name to.
Well in beckham, you're a source of british pride. Celebrity doesn't impress me but i'd have been well happy to see him pop his head round the corner.

It takes a big man to acknowledge that he was wrong. Luckily, I am a big man
I take my hat off to you Sir, you are quite right. Beckham Is a great ambassador, and doing what he did in this video was, at worst, harmless, and, at best, a moment these people will remember with a smile. My knee jerk comment was, I guess, just a response to the "instant fame" generation. Once again, I humbly accept your reproach.

Good job at attacking me and not my actual statement BTW.

You would really get riled up about Gandhi and Martin Luther King then as they provoked the law as well. If the police can break the law openly and on film and still get to carry a loaded gun then maybe gun rights are kind of important. Or do you prefer to wait try to fight enslavement once only the police and the military have guns?
>> ^spoco2:
No, see, I really don't like dickheads like this.
Smug little shit who has read up on one law and then has probably gone out carrying a gun PURELY to run into a cop and be able to spout off this shit.
What fucking reason does he have for walking around with a fucking gun? Really, this is shit, and people who go 'YEAH MAN, STICK IT TO THE MAN' are so full of shit too.
"Is that the only reason you stopped me? Because I'm carrying a gun?" YES! Why the fuck is that not a correct course of action? Why does this dick think that it's a GOOD thing for people to just be able to walk around with loaded guns?
He thinks he's being some righteous individual, standing up for the rights of citizens everywhere... IN WHAT WAY? Hurray sir, you've been able to walk around with a loaded firearm. You've improved our lives in what way?
If you want to improve our lives by railing against authority figures, why not do it by standing up for rights that actually IMPROVE our lives?
Just dangerous stupidity on this dick's part.

You are the exact type of person I refer to in paragraph 3 of my post.
Trying to say that this guy is in ANY WAY like MLK or Gandhi just demonstrates how utterly you have failed to grasp this.
Him having a gun on his person makes everyone less safe (including him), not moreso. He's a dick who loves guns and feels like a big man by walking around with one on his hip. He's discovered he's within his rights to walk around like that, and likes to wave that right in people's faces, no matter how scared he makes people or anything else.
The LAW may be on his side, but that doesn't make him 'right'...
I for one sure as shit don't want people walking around on the street with sidearms.

The police is more likely to be a threat so if you don't want citizens to carry guns then we have to get rid of armed officers too. I don't want anyone to have a gun but if you read what I said you might have noticed that I specified that gun rights are important in the situation we are in where known criminals in the police like the officer doing the detaining in this video are allowed to carry guns.

How They Deal With Fare-Jumpers In Scotland.

messenger says...

That was violent. I don't care if he didn't do any of the things on a particular list of violent acts that you hold, but picking someone out of a chair by the collar is violent, and so are throwing him to the ground and then off a train. And, he did hit him when he tried to get back on the train.

Non-violent solutions include what the ticket checker guy was doing from the start, using social pressure to get him to leave. Another is contacting the police, as @Yogi has suggested. Your personal judgements of this fare-dodger and what you believe he "deserves" aside, getting passengers home a minute or two earlier doesn't warrant this kind of vigilante violence. I hope the big guy gets charged with the assault which he clearly committed.>> ^Quboid:

I think you had a reasonable point in there somewhere - people who resort to violence aren't necessarily good, salt of the earth people. However, the "big man" doesn't hit this entitled little shit. He is physical, but he's not violent.

What in the living fuck are you babbling about tough guy? I'm sick of this "Salt of the earth hard working" Bullshit to describe Assholes who don't now how else to deal with their problems other than HIT THEM. I come from a family of Hicks with simple minds and hard working backgrounds...they don't go around beating the shit outa people they don't like just cause "That'll learn them."
Honest, good people...they're all a bunch of cunts.

The little shit was holding everyone up and knew exactly what he was doing. The big man hauls him off the train and keeps him off and that's not really cool, however, there's a hundred people who probably just wanted to go home. He didn't use excessive force in throwing the little shit off the train or hurt the little shit. The big man shouldn't have been throwing the little shit off the train at all but under the circumstances, I don't have any sympathy for said little shit and if the cops are called and the little shit does suffer consequences, that won't give a hundred people back their wasted time.

I am assuming the kid knew what he was doing. I am assuming no excessive force was used - at one point they fall over but that's inevitable in a struggle.

The Complete "Ich Bin ein Berliner" Speech

NinjaInHeat says...

You're right, the point here is (and I may be wrong about this because my German is far from perfect) that the term Berliner isn't used for both meanings (people from Berlin are not referred to as Berliners), The suffix 'er' suggests it's an adjective, a Berliner what? a Berliner man, a Berliner beer, etc... So even if there was no doughnut nicknamed 'Berliner' it would still sound kinda funny, more like saying "I am a big" instead of "I am a big man".

Not that I care much, just sayin'...

>> ^schlub:

This is so stupid. Just because SOME Germans refer to a particular confection as a "Berliner" doesn't mean that Kennedy's use is incorrect. It does NOT translate to "I am a jelly doughnut". That's idiotic. It would be like someone insisting that saying "I am a Canadian" means "I am a beer" since Molson Canadian beer is often referred to as "a Canadian"....
