Michelle Bachmann Is Now Officially Only HALF American.

charliem says...

First the co-creator of facebook....now bachmann.....is this an indication of the rich abandoning the US citizenship to escape the popularist demands to tax those mother fuckers?

Oh Kirk, you crazy nutjob

jmzero says...

I don't agree with Kirk, but I thought he was pretty reasonable here (the bar has been set pretty low - I mean, watch Bachmann get interviewed). He dissembled a bit - but he didn't just flat out refuse to present his position (or complain that the question was unfair) as many have done recently.

Piers really wanted to stick this question, but he didn't do so effectively. I think he had a chance to tease out a better answer, and didn't take it.

Maybe something like "OK, so if you had this heart-to-heart, and your kid is still gay.. what do you do? Would you be comfortable having his partner over for family dinner? If they were together for a long time, could you support some kind of civil union between them?"

In the end, he got the worst of both worlds - he interjected and seemed combative, while still letting him off easy.

Media Treats Bachmann Unfairly Because She's An Insane Woman

Wow... uh... FOX nailed it.

VoodooV says...

yeah it seemed all even-handed and what not, but at the end it was just an ad for Ron Paul.

The frustrating part is just...at the end of the day, you never have a guarantee. Let's argue for a moment that that somehow the far right makes a resurgence and a far right religious crackpot like Bachmann gets elected. Like the guy alludes to, I really don't think a whole lot would change. The nation just does not turn on a dime.

We've had 8 years of Bush and then we get Obama in and guess what. The nation did not turn on a dime. All those morons who went out and bought a ton of guns and ammo out of fear just wasted their money.

The same thing happened when Bush was elected. The far left was certain Roe v Wade would get overturned and abortion would become illegal. It didn't happen. All that panic and worrying for nothing.

Now i'm not saying that things wouldn't change over time if one party or the other would stay in office for a more sustained amount of time. So I'm not saying the presidency doesn't matter. But we as a nation, left and right, put way too much stock in the Office of the President. It's Congress that really has the power, but despite that, all the scrutiny goes to the President. Congress does not have their activities under a magnifying glass like the President does.

Anytime someone argues that something is going to cause a radical shift left or right, they're typically full of shit. If a change does occur, it's going to be slow and gradual. That's assuming they can even make the change.

And quite honestly, I don't mind that. It would be insanely chaotic if things shifted radically every time power changed hands. I'm OK with change being slow. It swings both ways, If we're changing for the worse, it gives us the chance to make changes before things get too bad and if we're changing for the better, then it gives a chance for the opposition to understand why it's better so that everyone can be on board.

King of Bain: "When Mitt Romney Came To Town"

truth-is-the-nemesis says...

If Romney has earned this level of negative publicity then clearly 'he is the new front-runner' (Again!). every candidate thus far has suffered its consequence's, Bachmann's crazy tea-party rhetoric, possibly gay hubby & weird magazine picture & speaking off camera. Hermain Cain we'll just leave it there, 'you all know'. Newt and his staffing problems & taking donations of $1.6 million (that we know about) from Freddie Mac, Paul's Racists articles & letting people to die you aren't insured (As he must make his own choice?), and now coming full circle back to Santorums Bible thumping anti-gay fear-mongering & Romney taking exorbitant profit while CEO of Bain capital.

I never thought i'd see the day that when in a republican debate others on stage would voice any opposition to free market capitalism run a mock, quite an intriguing turn of events indeed.

Huntsman Attacks Ron Paul - frontrunner pile on

longde says...

What's wrong with Huntsman? And I would argue that Santorum is at least as religious as Bachmann.>> ^bobknight33:

The Grand Old Party aka the Republican Party
Rick Perry -- Once Democrat - Turncoat
Newt Gingrich -- Left leaning with way to much baggage
Mitt Romney -- Romneycare- Left leaning
Ron Paul -- Stickler for the Constitution- even to a fault (Foreign Affairs)doesn't waiver,
Rick Santorum -- Good,Conservative but needs to place well in Iowa
John Huntsman -- The Foreign Affairs Champ of the bunch -
Michele Bachmann -- Like Ron Paul but carries too much religious Baggage
As a conservative it appears the Paul and Santorum are the best choice.

Ron Paul Walks Out of CNN Interview

dystopianfuturetoday says...

Welcome to mainstream politics, Mr. Paul, you will now have to endure a higher level of scrutiny, just like all of your opponents.

Ron Paul has a large body of racist literature in his name. I think it is troubling and a fair point to bring this up. It's also a lot more significant than some of the bad press for the other candidates, like Bachmann's gay husband and Newt and Cain's affairs. Read the volumes of racist literature for yourself here: http://www.mrdestructo.com/2011/12/game-over-scans-of-over-50-ron-paul.html

Did Lew Rockwell write all of this without the editorial consent or attention of Ron Paul? Were they pandering to a racist base? Or is Ron Paul lying? Not good anyway you slice it.

Of much worse concern than old newsletters is Ron Paul's problematic Austrian economic platform, which is a more hardcore version of the free market economics that have bankrupted this country, decimated the middle class and sent our jobs to third world slaves. Ron Paul will not stand up to corporations. On the contrary, he is going to give them the gift of deregulation and tax cuts.

I'm sick of Ron Paul hype. Enough of this blind hero worship. Ron Paul is capable of doing wrong. He is not a deity.
